Q: soo lastnight there was a party. and it was awesomee.i had so much fun.everyone was dancing/grindingg..and i was partying with my bf.we didn't make out or anything b/c theere were some parents tthere.but w/e. ANYWAYSS my x boyfriends mother[ who im friends with..b/c my x and i are still friends] she called my parents and told them there was dirty dancing going on! my dad came at like 10. [when everything was dying down] but im soo embaressed. that mother told my parents i was one of themm.and i think my parents are like dissapointed in me.is there anyway i cann earn their trust backk???
You will get better answers than the one I have for you, but to start this off, I think you should talk to them about what happened. Did you grind with your boyfriend? You can say how you will never do it again and that's the only dance you did only because everybody else was doing it and it seemed harmless up to now and you understand their feelings on the subject and you will the next time put an end to it.

Q: my profile picture isnt uploading on facebookk is anyone else experinencing this and what should i do

Q: the monolouge (sp?) from the taming of the shrew that goes:

The more my wrong, the more his spite appears: What, did he marry me to famish me? Beggars, that come unto my father's door, Upon entreaty have a present aims; If not, elsewhere they meet with charity: But I, who never knew how to entreat, Nor never needed that I should entreat, Am starved for meat, giddy for lack of sleep, With oath kept waking and with brawling fed: And that which spites me more than all these wants, He does it under name of perfect love; As who should say, if I should sleep or eat, 'Twere deadly sickness or else present death. I prithee go and get me some repast; I care not what, so it be wholesome food.

what does it mean?????
and whats going on with the play aroudn it?
help!
I just answered a question like this. :D

The answer to all your problems is this site:
http://nfs.sparknotes.com/

or more specifically:
http://nfs.sparknotes.com/shrew/

The monologue in particular you are speaking of is here: (Act IV, scene iii):

KATHERINE
The more my wrong, the more his spite appears.
What, did he marry me to famish me?
Beggars that come unto my father's door
5 Upon entreaty have a present alms.
If not, elsewhere they meet with charity.
But I, who never knew how to entreat,
Nor never needed that I should entreat,
Am starved for meat, giddy for lack of sleep,
10 With oaths kept waking and with brawling fed.
And that which spites me more than all these wants,
He does it under name of perfect love,
As who should say, if I should sleep or eat,
'Twere deadly sickness or else present death.
15 I prithee, go and get me some repast,
I care not what, so it be wholesome food.

It means:

KATHERINE
The more I suffer, the more spiteful he becomes. Did he marry me just to starve me? Beggars at my father's door are given money as soon as they ask for it. And if they don't find charity there, they find it someplace else. But I, who have never known how to beg and never had to beg, am starved for food, dizzy with lack of sleep, kept awake with curses and fed with brawling. And what irks me more than all these things put together is that he does it under the pretense of love—as though for me to eat or sleep would bring on fatal illness or sudden death. Please, go and get me something to eat. I don't care what so long as it's nutritious.

No Fear Shakespeare on Sparknotes helps so much! It shows the original text and a modern-day "translation" of the work.

I haven't read all of Shakespeare's plays but hopefully I can help!

Q: ok so I start camp tomorrow...and we're supposed to bring in three shakespeare monologues we want to work on and I found all these sites that have monologues, but I have no clue what's going in the play at that point, so it doesn't make much sense to me.
can someone PLEASE give me shakespeare monologues for woman with a mini discription of what's going on in the play and the translation?
thanks!

What three Shakespeare monologues do you plan on working on? Are you only doing the parts of women?

In any case, the answer to all your problems:
http://nfs.sparknotes.com/

No Fear Shakespeare on Sparknotes helps so much! It shows the original text and a modern-day "translation" of the work.

You have probably read or heard of Romeo and Juliet so you can pick a well-known monologue from the Sparknotes un-translated version, copy and paste.

Q: im intrested in reading alot of sarah dessens books this summer. but which one is the best, or can you tell me which is the best from greatest to least? thank you so much
Out of all her books:

The Truth about Forever
This Lullaby
Dreamland
Keeping the Moon
Someone Like You
That Summer

"This Lullaby" was my favorite!

I'm sure you will like all of them, no matter the order you read them in. Have fun!

Q: what song is this? i heard it in hco today
some lyrics are

"she was beautiful, but she didn't mean a thing to me"
Death Cab for Cutie - "Tiny Vessels"

This is the moment that you know
That you told her that you loved her but you don't.
You touch her skin and then you think
That she is beautiful but she don't mean a thing to me.
Yeah, she is beautiful but she don't mean a thing to me.

I spent two weeks in Silverlake
The California sun cascading down my face
There was a girl with light brown streaks
And she was beautiful but she didn't mean a thing to me.
Yeah she was beautiful but she didn't mean a thing to me.

Wanted to believe in all the words that i was speaking
As we moved together in the dark
And all the friends that i was telling
And all the playful misspellings
And every bite i gave you left a mark

Tiny vessels oozed into your neck
And formed the bruises
That you said you didn't want to fade
But they did and so did i that day

All i see are dark grey clouds
In the distance moving closer with every hour
So when you ask "was something wrong?"
That i think "you're damn right there is but we can't talk about it now.
No, we can't talk about it now."

So one last touch and then you'll go
And we'll pretend that it meant something so much more
But it was vile, and it was cheap
And you are beautiful but you don't mean a thing to me
Yeah you are beautiful but you don't mean a thing to me [x2]

Q: Okay, im natrually tan and i dont want to be at all! i wish i had light pale skin like movie stars have.
i use 50 spf sunblock but STILL i tan!
i know everyone wants to be tan but id just like to be a little lighter.. is there away to get rid of a tan or lighten your skin?
YES!

- Lemon juice helps lighten tans.

- You can look for Asian products. People in Asia are always look to lighten their skin and thus have a whole skincare line for that purpose and more. !!!Shiseido!!! (Japanese company) has a lot. Check them out! * Warning: Do not get products with hydroquonine as an ingredient in it.

- Stay inside buildings. That helps too.. but not really practical. I tan easily but was born white-ish and hate my tan.

Q:
uh i get confused when people say: jinx you owe me a coke
If two people say a word/phrase simultaneously and do not call Jinx, a third party MAY NOT call a jinx in order to receive two Cokes or administer two punches, only the direct members may call one.

As an alternative to the punch in the arm rule of the jinx game, a Coca-Cola is often used as a bargaining chip. The Coke is owed to the kid that yells "Pinch-poke, You owe me a Coke!" or sometimes just "Jinx with a Coke!" as soon as possible after stating the jinx. This child then wins the game, and thus a Coke. The true problem is in collecting the Coke. One alternative to the Coke rule often played by college students is to play for Rum and Cokes. Another variation is "California jinx" in which one cannot go to the bathroom until someone has said his or her name.

Q: does anyone know what poem

"and i reached, our hands touched / and we found our way home"

is from?

i'm trying to help a friend with their english homework and i need to know ASAP

please & thanks!
Is it from this book?

The Child's Song: The Religious Abuse of Children By Donald Capps

http://books.google.com/books?id=zxm--aRPUOgC&pg=PA140&lpg=PA140&dq=poem+and+i+reached+our+hands+touched+and+%22we+found+our+way+home%22&source=web&ots=suwVqPAjCc&sig=JuigQIzMBqGkUSVvr-IYfTA0njo

Sorry, I've searched everywhere but that is the only result that came up. The pages are cut off the page before and the index at the bottom doesn't help much. It should say somewhere in the book. Maybe you can run to the nearest library and see if they have this?

Q: at the end of this song, you can hear the audience singing, what are they saying?
I think it's:

"You never walk alone, you never walk alone
walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
and you never walk alone, you never walk alone"

from

"Pink Floyd - Fearless"

You say the hill's to steep to climb, climbing
you say you'ld like to see me try, climbing
you pick the place and I'll choose the time
and I'll climb the hill in my own way
just wait a while for the right day
and as I rise above the tree-line and the clouds
I look down, hearing the sounds of the things you've said today

Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling
mercyless the magistrate turns round, frowning
and who's the fool who wears the crown
go down in your own way
and every day is the right day
and as you rise above the fear-lines in his crown
you look down, hearing the sound of the faces in the growd

You never walk alone, you never walk alone
walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
and you never walk alone, you never walk alone

Q: I'm DESPERATELY needing to lose weight.
Ten pounds at the least.
I'm over weight, and I need it off.
I can do really well with healthy eating it's jsut soemtimes I CRAVE sweets, like I need them, so what can i do to either trick myself out of it, or what foods that are low fat and low calories are there that are sweet.

Wish me luck.
I can only think of weird alternatives.

Honey is a good alternative to add to snacks or suck on a sugar cane. Fruits are yummy and nutritious and sweet at the same time - a very healthy alternative! Why not just eat your favorite fruits?

Artificial sweeteners are sort of worse for you (current studies are trying to see if it links to cancer) but a little bit of sweetner is sweeter than if you had the same amount of sugar.

I think if you do eat sweets in moderation that would be better for you. If you starve yourself of sweets you may go on a mega-binge and that would be bad in the end. It's good to allow yourself a sweet once in a while. Maybe you can bribe yourself that you can spend your money elsewhere on CDs or clothes and stuff or have your family members help out and ban you from the sugar closet or something. lol or eat only once a week or keep yourself busy doing other things. Speaking of which, I myself cannot stop eating. My solution is to exercise more.

I don't think this is a good idea, but it's extreme. You can gorge yourself on SO much sweets at once that you don't want to go near it again. I don't know if that would work.

Q: I need website links for free music downloading.. I tried searching for them myself but most of it had some sort of payments to be made in them... I usually download music from wwww.yourmp3.com ..but then sometimes i end up in a fix coz the songs i downloaded would not be the full version and the link would be wrong and i end up downloading some other song....please help!!!
I used to have the same problem. There are many options for you:

1. You can search for "mp3 rotation" websites. There are a lot of music blogs too.

ex: SEARCH: mp3 rotation shakira hips don't lie

2. Or use this to narrow down your search. Just change the name of the song to suit your needs. These will lead you to a specific song and artist. You can try the examples below: (look at URL you are downloading from-Google will list it below the main link thingy. dont go to sites whose names sound like those yourmp3.com sites because the downloads usually don't work)

a) {-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "song name and artist"}

ex: {-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "shakira hips don't lie"}

b)?intitle:index.of? file extention file name

ex: ?intitle:index.of? mp3 shakira hips don't lie

3. Also, you can visit http://www.livejournal.com/community/screwyouhippies

OR

http://community.livejournal.com/mp3_share

and request a song there.

Best of luck to you!

Q: In the novel, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, what profession is Pip to be educated after moving to Londnon?
Miss Havisham's payment for Pip ultimately comes in the form of monetary compensation for his years of service as Joe's apprentice. Pip appears to be destined to become a BLACKSMITH, but he cannot forget about Estella, even with the advice of his female friend, Biddy.

The pivotal turning point in Pip's life comes in his fourth year of apprenticeship when a well-known London attorney named Mr. Jaggers informs them that Pip has been endowed with "great expectations" -- he will be provided with the necessary fortune and upbringing to make himself a GENTLEMAN. While Mr. Jaggers specifically states that Pip's benefactor will not be revealed to him yet, Pip believes that Miss Havisham is behind this, which is further strengthened by the discovery that Jaggers is Miss Havisham's lawyer.

Here are the comments:

I am totally obsessed now with finding an orange bag like the one Clare carries in the movie. You can see part of it in the still pic from when they are in the graveyard. I cannot find one anywhere if anybody could help!!!

julian mcdonald designed an orange bag for his collection for debenhams... i think it's leather tho... so maybe it's not the same but it's still nice... you could try the website- debenhams.com... good luck with the hunt!!!

Listen....I saw a decently similar one at Old Navy this weekend. Checked on the website, it's not there, I saw 4 of them...if you want to check your store...see if they can get it....I saw it at Old Navy in Irvnig Mall, Texas 75038. :-) If you want to email me, maybe I can help you out...get a picture.....get it for you...if you have paypal...we can work it out! :-)

Here's what's on it:

Ok. I am glad I am not the only costume watcher. I LOVE the bag Kirsten Dunst uses in Elizabethtown. If anyone knows where I can find one. Please let me know.
Cheers!
-Toni

I also am in love with the orange bag.. have you found out what brand it is or anything?

It is a fossil bag. But apparently there is no style number. I got ahold of the guy who bought the actual bag Kirsten used in the movie. He paid 400+ from Premier props. I actually contacted them and have a list picture of it.
But he looked inside and there is no style tag. I am still hunting. I contacted Fossil headquarters and they can't even find it.
IT"S MADDENING!!!!!! LOL
I know it's out there. And it probably was from last fall. People at fossil stores say they remember selling it around june-August 2005.
Let me know what you find. It may have been a California only bag. So I am having my friend in LA keep an eye out.

Keep me in mind and I will do the same for you. ;)

Cheers,
Toni

Toni, I saw a message from you on the Red Hat thread, and was wondering, where the heck did you get the shirt she wore? You're talking about the awesome brown one that has that white hand grabbing the white light, and have LOW in big letters at the top. I can't read any of the other stuff.

Where did you get it?? Please, let me know. I'm dying to own one for myself. =)

Well here is the thing about me. When I really want something I SEARCH! I blew the picture up and was able to read the entire shirt. my friends say I should be a detective. LOL! here is the link.
http://www.chairkickers.com/
It was a cheap shirt too. It's totally cozy. Just wash it a few times.
Sorry this took me so long. I have not read the bords in a while. I am actually working with a fossil reagenal manager to track down the bag. So hopefully I will be back with a post on that as well. (fingers crossed)

Take care!

-T

Here is an update. I was recently on a trip to LA to visit a friend. Anyway I popped into the Universal studios Fossil store. And the district manager has joind the quest for this bag.
She found out that it was from the "Mesquito" line. In the Fossil forevers line. It was out 3 years ago. And to her knowlege there are none left in outlet stores or the warehouse. The general public owns all bags.
I am continuing the search. If anyone finds anything else please let me know.

Cheers & Good luck!

-Toni

Update to the Update. The line is actually the Mesquito coast line. And the style number is ZB3569600. there atre NONE left in stores. I have listed a want add through craigs list here in the Seattle area. If anything comes up from that I will post it.

Good luck!

-T

Did you find out anything associated with the orange fossil bag. I'm looking desperately to find it and have no luck. Thanks!

The full cast and crew is listed here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368709/fullcredits

Somehow you can work your way from there and ask one of them about the bag?

Q: Does anyone know any cute pickup lines?
starts with a if you were a_________ i would _____or
if i was a________ i would_______
are you a______? because______
does anyone know

There are soo many! Here are a few non-dirty ones:

If you were a chicken, you'd be impeccable.

Are you religious? Cause you are the answer to all my prayers.

If you were a tear in my eye I would not cry for fear of losing you.

Baby, if you were words on a page, you'd be what they call FINE PRINT!

If you were a laser, you'd be set on "stunning".

Are you a broom? Because you sure swept me off my feet.

Are you a star? Because you always shine when I look at you.

If you stood in front of a mirror and held up 11 roses, you would see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world.

If you were a burger at McDonalds, you'd be named McGorgeous.

If I could rearrange the alphabet, I'd put U and I together.

If I followed you home, would you keep me?

If I were bread, would you be my butter?

If I were a gardner, I'd plant your tulips next to mine.

If I was an ice cube, I'd melt standing next to you.

If I were you I would go out with me.

Q: "in literature, evil often triumphs but never conquers"

can anyone paraphrase that?
also, does anyone know how i could start off some topic sentences?

thanks in advance :)
what is a critical lens essay? is it a term you teacher made up or uses? is it a literary criticism/theory essay?

"in literature, evil often triumphs but never conquers"

you can paraphrase that by stating the opposite:

"good wins over evil in the end, however much evil tries to prevail" or something like that

hmm.. for a thesis in an essay for your language arts class, i don't think you need the "in literature" part. or maybe you do. in my classes we wouldn't.

if you have a specific work you are talking about it would be helpful to tell us, otherwise it would be hard to suggest topic sentences for you.

formal essays usually have 3 body paragraphs, an intro and a conclusion, making 5 paragraphs total. more is always better, but remember quality over quantity.

Q: does anyone know any good history website that woud have info on the AIDs epidemic?

not like current info, but like when peoples houses were burnt down bc they had AIDs. (1960's maybee..?)

anyone know any reliable websites? or info?
http://encarta.msn.com

Q: ok, so my sister is going to graduate this june and she's really excited for it and have been waiting ever since, so i want to give her something special. Do you have any ideas what a 14 yr old girl would want?

p.s. she's not such a girly girl thanks~
A scrapbook of all your good times together, all the memories. Include movie tickets, photos, and other paper objects you can paste in your book. :D
You don't have to stick to just one thing. You can also give her something else in addition to this or whatever you decide to give her. You can give her a gift card to Barnes and Noble. Or take her out to the city for shopping. (does not have to be clothes shopping) Have fun and good luck!
