Q: well ok, im 13/f and my family thinks im going emo. well like i want to learn to play the guitar so bad!! and i wear black nail polish and arm warmers and i dress kind of (punkish) well anyways, i wear black make up and stuff but i dont cut myself or anything like that. I mean i skateboard and i play football, and i hang out with my brothers alot. but my dad is all "you need to act more of a girl" and it ticks me off. how can i get him off my back? thanks in advance

You're a tomboy, tell him that and that he needs to deal with it. Ask him why it bothers him so much that you do these things. It doesn't make you any less of a girl if you skate or play football. If he is worried you may turn out to be a lesbian or something, ask him about it. Also, inform him about this "emo" business and that it does not mean you're into drugs and generally, help him dispel the stereotypes that go along with the "emoness". He is just worried that you're changing and needs to understand that you are just you and he should love you no matter what you are.

Q: I'm beyond frustrated. Shopping never does me any good when it comes to style choices because I feel like I don't know myself or what I'm willing to wear at this point. Can anyone give me some at home projects I can do myself to make my own clothing and accessories? I would prefer if it were something that didn't require me to go to a craft store. I like things that are very earthy and not tacky. Thank you!

Q: There's a song that rarely comes on the radio, I'm guessing it's like years old. It goes like this:
"As we go on, we remember, all the times that, we had together."
And it would be a great song to play at a graduation, I'm pretty sure they do.
Tried google, didn't come up with anything.
---Many thanks.

"Graduation (Friends Forever)" by Vitamin C
And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And I keep thinking of that night in June
I didn't know much of love
But it came too soon and there was me and you
And then we got real blue
Stay at home talking on the telephone
We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels
Chorus
As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, come whatever
We will still be, friends forever
So if we get the big jobs and we make the big money
When we look back now, will our jokes still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school?
Still be trying to break every single rule
Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can Heather find a job that won't interfere with her tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
And this is how it feels
Repeat Chorus
La, la, la, la; yeah, yeah, yeah
La, la, la, la, we will still be friends forever
Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there? Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women and men
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us round?
Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
Repeat Chorus (x3)

Q: There's a song I heard on Q97.9 before Q it or Screw it sometime last week. It came on before Matt Kearney's new song, undeniable.
It goes like this:
"Pictures of you, pictures of me. Remind us all of what we used to be." In the main verse. I've tried google days ago, so please don't tell me to go there.

Q: Okay well I guess I should describe myself before asking for advice.
Well I am 16/f and I'm Asian.
Anyways, now that we have that out of the way, I've been interested in dancing, especially hip hop, breakdancing(yes the typical asian move there XD) and etc.
I can't really take classes because I can't get a ride so I got some dvd's like Laurie Ann Gibson one and the one where they teach moves from 'you got served'
So what I wanted to learn more was how to krump, poplock, and breakdance. I mean there's instructional dvd for hip hop but there really isnt any for pop lock and krumping.
And I can learn breakdance by my boyfriend later on.
Actually I can get taught how to pop lock by my boyfriend because he's really good but I kind of wanna surprise him.
And I heard this kid in my school learned how to Krump all on his own.
So How can I learn all those?

Q: When i read in the car, i get sick. well, i feel queasy. what can i do to stop this?
thanks

It's called motion sickness.
Also called: Airsickness, Carsickness, Seasickness
Motion sickness is a common problem in people traveling by car, train, airplanes and especially boats. Motion sickness can start suddenly, with a queasy feeling and cold sweats. It can then lead to nausea, dizziness and vomiting.
Your brain senses movement by getting signals from your inner ears, eyes, muscles and joints. When it gets signals that do not match, you can get motion sickness. For example, down below on a boat, your inner ear senses motion, but your eyes cannot tell you are moving.
Where you sit can make a difference. The front seat of a car, forward cars of a train, upper deck on a boat or wing seats in a plane may give you a smoother ride. Looking out into the distance - instead of trying to read or look at something in the vehicle - can also help.
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/motionsickness.html
In other words, it helps to look outside. When you read you're not focused on the fact that you yourself are not moving but the car is and that can disturb your body because visually you're not perceiving that you're in a moving object and so your sense of equilibrium gets thrown out of whack, that's why.
Happens to a lot of us.

Plus, it's catchy and sort of fun to say even if it is irrelevant to the situation at hand. People always go around saying random stuff like that and sing random lines they can remember. lol there's this show where they test people to see if they know the lyrics to songs but they usually just know the most famous part. You can definitely see the influence the media and culture has on us.

My Leftovers by Porcelain and the Tramps
You're havin a midlife crisis tying to get where I've been
Well if you want 'em that bad Ms. V
You can have 'em
So when you see me comin'
You better back down
Cause I've been waitin to smack you around
Oh I don't hold my breath
And I don't hold my tongue
And I know that you know that I don't back down
To no one
To no one
(repeat)
Chorus:
Oh you should've stayed home
You should've known better
Yet I melt in your mouth like liquid sugar.
You thought you were gonna throw it back in my face
But tell me, how do my leftovers taste?
With all your plastic surgery you still think that you're 20
Well, honey, you'll never look half good as me
It would take a lot more money
You can't keep your legs closed
You're cheap and disturbing
And you wonder why your still single and past 30.
Oh, I don't hold my breath
And I don't hold my tongue
And I know that you know that I don't back down
To no one
To no one
(repeat)
(Chrous)
How do my leftovers taste
Tell me, did you lick my plate?
Oooooo.
How do my leftovers taste?
Oh I don't hold my breath
And I don't hold my tongue
And I know that you know that I don't back down
To no one
To no one
(repeat)
(Chrous x2)
Tell me, how do my left overs taste?(x3)

Q: ok so in about a week my family reunion is coming up and i'm responsible for creating games for the younger children to play part of the time. They are about 2 - 7 years old. I need game ideas that they can play like on teams for prizes i will have. I already have things like a pinata, an obstacle course, and a water balloon toss.
Can anyone think of any other game ideas that i can use?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|

You have a wide-ish range of ages. Younger kids like coloring. You can also leave out some jump ropes, maybe if you have a tiny house with fake food and utensils (if possible), get a sprinkler going, bubbles solutions, marbles, you can get out any random toys you used to have like Barbies or cars and have a toybox, maybe a mini basketball hoop (lots of games can be played with this like HORSE), etc.
Here are some games the children can play with each other:
- Duck, duck goose
- Charades
- Children's books
- Kick the Can (Play: Place coffee can in a large open area to be home base. It counts to 50 while the other kids hide. When It SEES a child, he calls her name. They both race to the can, and try to kick it first. If It kicks the can, the hider is caught and placed in "prison" on the porch. If the hider kicks the can, she and all players in prison are free, and It must count again.)
- Hopscotch
- Red Rover (Play: Kids line up in two lines, each line holding hands and facing the other. The two lines should be some distance apart for running back and forth. The first line chooses a runner from the other line to call, saying "Red Rover, Red Rover, Let [chosen child] come over." That child runs to the other line, trying to break through the hands of two children. If the runner breaks through, he chooses someone from that line and takes them back to his line. If he doesn't break through, he joins that line. The game ends when all children are in one line. *Note, arm holding is not allowed.)
- Singing children's songs
- Four Square
- I Spy (Play: It silently chooses an item in the observable environment. He says, "I spy something [the color of the item he picked, for example - red]. The other kids blurt out their guesses of what the item is until someone guesses it, or they are stumped.)
- Capture the Flag
- Hide and Seek or Sardines or Chain Hide and Seek (Play: This is an easy and wild hide and seek variation. Itcounts to 50 while everyone hides. When the first child is found, he takes It's hand and goes with him to find the others. Each child joins the chain as he is found.)
- Hold contests with prizes like who can spit out the watermelon seed the farthest
