Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?
Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.

advice

my dad dosent live with me. and i just sent him an email saying that i didnt want to see him anymore. before you say i did something wrong, let me tell you everything that he has done.

1. when i was 4 months old, he ran out on me and my mom and went and lived with another woman.
2. hes cheated on my mom so many times that she cant even remember.
3. hes very disrespecful to my family, espessially to my mother.
4. he treats my sister like crap.
5. im the youngest out of 4 kids, and he has 2 kids with another woman(his ex wife) and he pays their FULL childsupport, and we only get half, or sometimes way less than we are suppost too.
6.he sleeps with wemon who are 10 years younger than him.
7. he dosent know how to act around people.
8. him and my mom dont get along(of course)and everytime that it comes close for me to seeing him,my mom gets pissed, and she dosent talk to me for days.

so, anyway, i sent him that email saying that i didnt want to see him anymore. is it a bad thing that i sent him that email, and i dont feel bad about it??

I'm getting major deja vu reading this...I was in almost the same exact situation in 8th grade. My dad left when I was about 13, but that's the only difference. New family, everything.

I did the same thing...I sent him several very, very nasty emails, and eventually he stopped responding. However, I was forced into court-ordered visits and had to deal with him. I love my stepmom and half-brothers (it was hard, because at first I wanted to hate them so much) and learned to deal with him. (Things have totally changed now, but that's a whole nother story).

What I'm trying to tell you...in a few years, that email won't make a difference. It's good that you expressed your feelings and were honest with him, and it's okay to not feel bad. Don't worry about it. Things will always work out.

And please, for your sake, stay out of the parent drama. I've been there and it's absolutely horrible. Believe me when I say you really have no way of knowing everyone that's going on...so even though it's very easy to hate people, try not to take sides.

I'm about 5' 8" and only in the eighth grade! I know being tall should be a good thing and all that crap, but i just need something to raise my self esteem. Being the tallest in the grade (even above the guys) is never comforting. is there anything you can say to cheer me up? :(

I'm 17 and the same height.

The good news: you probably won't grow anymore. And you have one more year til high school, where I promise almost all of the guys will be taller than you (5'8" is like short for most guys). And it means you can date cute juniors and seniors instead of awkward freshman guys!

Being tall is seriously a great thing. (And that's coming from someone who used to cry because I hated being tall so much). You have amazing long legs which most girls would KILL for. You can rock miniskirts like no one's business and look great in ballet flats, because honestly, heels make you look like you're trying too hard anyway. And just because of your height, people will assume you're older, definitely a great thing when it comes to cute older guys.

Remember, supermodels are super tall (a 5'8 girl on America's next top model was called short)...and they are some of the most beautiful, wanted women in the world.

Oh, and one more good thing: If you gain weight, it won't show as much as it does on short people.

Enjoy your height. Hating it does you no good.

My birthday is coming up and my parents said that they would get me a new camera for it because the one i have now was a freebe. Basically, I want to know which cameras you have PERSONALLY used and are really good. What brands are good as well also?

Sony Cybershots are really great. They take great pictures and videos, are small, easy to use, and you can edit your pics while they're still on the camera...crop em, apply special effects, even make a slideshow with your own music. I love mine.

Also, you can make your own...like use magazine pages. I have a wall covered in designer ads from Bazaar and I always get compliments on it.

Another thing a friend of mine did...she saved bags from her favorite stores, then cut out the store logos and tacked them together.

what brand the best kind of coverup? i need a liquid and a powder...right now i have covergirl (the powder and the concealer stick) and its not working the absolute best...it doesnt really cover what i want to cover, and its almost empty anyway:P
if you could provide links to pictures that would be great then i would know what im looking for.
PS i have sensitive skin thats easily agitated.

Revlon Colorstay Blemish Concealer is amazing. And I just read that Jessica Alba uses it, so it's better than a lot of expensive brands.

im 16 and looking for a job but i dont know what place will hire me do you know place would hire 16 years old? i never worked before and im planning to work on weekends, and summer and it should be around hayward-union city thanks and how much they pay me thanks!

and im thinking ill have 2 jobs in summer one on weekdays and one on weekends do you think its okay?

Get a work permit from your school and almost anywhere will hire you- retail stores, pizza places, ice cream shops. Just apply and make sure to make a follow up call no longer than a week later.
In the summer, having two jobs isn't necessary. Just change your availability and your employer will have you work both weekdays and weekends. Otherwise it'll be too stressful and one of the jobs might be mad that you are only available two days a week.

i'm looking for a job to pay for senior year expenses, and i was thinking about coldstone creamery. it sounds fun, and i love people, and can sing well. i heard that to apply, you have to, in a way, "try out"? and another thing, i have basically no arm strength, and as weird as it sounds, would that impact it in any way (since i'd be scooping out ice cream)? any help is appreciated (:

I have had friends who worked there who HATED it. You get really bad hours and you are paid exactly minimum wage.

A less "fun" job will pay better...so you can work at Coldstone, make minimum wage but have fun, or work at like Walgreen's (only example I know, lol) and make $8.80 an hour with commission. It's your choice.

Also, they're very hard to get into, since obviously a lot of people want to work there.

i was looking at some Illinois drinking articles and i was wondering if its true that it is ok for an adult to give there children alcoholic beverages as long as they are on private property and accompany them

Well, technically, it's still against the law, but there's not a whole lot of likelihood of you being arrested.

You never know, though. Parents have even been arrested for letting their teens throw a party where alcohol was involved.

whats the order of cleaning your face? exfoliator, toner, moisurizer? am i missing any?

Exfoliate and do a facial mask once a week before cleansing.

Every day and night, cleanse, tone, moisturize (that includes an eye cream), and treat.

the one where you stick on your face and it gets rid of all bumps/marks on your face in just one day
does it really work??
and if does, does it work really good for a certain skin type??
and if your not sure about clean and clear, do you know any products that get rid of marks from pimples and get rid of blemiches??

i eat nice full meals, but sometimes after i eat and i know i'm full, i want more or i get cravings
i mean im not fat but sometimes i go in the kitchen and get a cookie and i want to stop
so how can i stop these craving for sweets (im trying to eat better and healthier) and how can i cut back on bad foods?

*please don't say "don't go in the kitchen" or "stop the cravings" cause that doesnt help much

Please ignore my previous recommendation for NV. That stuff is horrible. because of it, I have spent the last two days very, very sick and I almost passed out at my work. Don't take it!

NV is...well, I hate to say diet pill, but that's sort of what it is. You take it twice a day, it energizes you and helps suppress your appetite. It also has vitamins that are good for your skin and nails. You can get it at drugstores...






The other columns are right, you need to find stuff to do, but...also, you need to eat more protein and fiber.

I used to be the same way, but I found this Special K Protein Water drink mix. It tastes like pink lemonade, you put it in a water bottle and shake it up...it's helped me a lot.

are revlon berry lip stain and sugar lip worth the money? its like 14 bucks for one small container (sugar) and the lip stain is pretty expensive too but they do look good.

The lip sugar is definitely not worth it. It makes your lips really really weird and it only comes in like super-like colors.

I have the Just Bitten stain and I love it. I use a little bit with clear gloss on top and it lasts all day. Definitely worth the money. :)

If it was in an email, it means the email was spam. To get past spam filters (which detect words like "refinance", "viagra", etc) spammers often put random words in an email to throw the filters off.

Im 17/f.

The other morning I woke up and my mum was like "omg look at your face! Your skin is all yellow!" I couldn't tell when I looked in the mirror but. After a day it is gone but I have noticed that when I look to the side the corners of my eyes are yellowish on the white part of my eye. And a little bit when I pull my lower lid down. My skin is no longer yellow but my eyes have been like this for about 2 days or so now.

What could this be??

You definitely need to see the doctor as this could be jaundice (I had it as a kid and was in the hospital for a long time.)
