i was looking at some Illinois drinking articles and i was wondering if its true that it is ok for an adult to give there children alcoholic beverages as long as they are on private property and accompany them
theymos answered Tuesday January 22 2008, 1:53 pm: That is correct. In most states(including Illinois) it's legal if a parent gives you alcohol and you are in a private residence(not necessarily your own).
It's not legal, however, for a restaurant of bar to sell you alcohol, even with a parent.
Cupcakesandrayzerblades, the Federal government doesn't have authority to pass laws like that. They threatened the states with budget cuts if they didn't impose a 21-age limit. It was up to the states to make the specific exceptions. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
