I have a border collie/heeler, a heeler/greyhound, a goldfish, a betta fish, and a Colombian Redtail Boa.

Yesterday I ran away.
I've been ditching alot and I have plans in life with my friends and they are like everything to me.
I hate school.
I hated being home so much I asked my friend if I could stay at her house and my mom hates her. she said no because she didnt want the cops coming to her house.
She took me home and I stayed there for an hour and I cried and I stopped a realized I didn't want to be there
I live in las vegas so I pretty much walked 20 miles to my friends house and I stayed there.
I felt bad but I had nowhere to go and I just needed to be away for the weekend.
Well my mom found her number and called her and threatened to get the police on her.Well instead she told her to come pick me up at 530 and she did because I didn't want to do that to my friend.
I'm still so very miserable here.
What should I do? I'm just so confused I need someone to talk to
anyone

Deal with it. You've got a mom who cares about you. Friends that care about you. A place to live. If I walked 20 miles every single time I got frustrated with my family, I'd be across the country and back 3 times. You live in the most beautiful state in the world (I'll give you, though, that Vegas isn't a peachy place) Give it a week, you'll calm down. I promise :) If not, you can come 80 miles and punch me in the face. :P

So my dog is small and fat. He was the runt in his family.
I don't want to lose him so soon. I realize he's not a baby anymore, but I don't want him to die because of his weight.

So is there anything I can do for him?
He will no longer eat people food.

I really can't go walk him in my area though.
I don't have much time to and my neighborhood is not a good place to do so (druggies, sex assaulters)
Well, I'm just afraid, you know?

So in my free time (which is about 2 hours) Should I play with him (with balls/toys)? Would that even help? Run around the yard with him or something?

Is there anything good for him to eat?
He eats cat food (he grew up eating it before we got him, we tried dog food.. he didn't eat it)

I just want him to be himself again. All happy and hyper. His weight is holding him back.

Wow. First of all, kudos for choosing health over "omgcute!" So many people want their dogs to be cute, and somehow fat=cute in animals in our society.

First of all, this is going to sound mean, but take the food up. Unless he's a toy breed puppy, he can survive not eating a day. The next day, give him some wet dog food. If he eats, praise him like he saved your life. (If not, pick it up after 15 minutes. Put it down like 3 hours later. He'll eat eventually. when he does, praise him like he saved your life)

When he's eating the wet food regularly, mix in high quality dry food. High quality foods are slightly more expensive, but they contain less fillers, and that means more nutrients, so he'll eat less to get what he needs. Innova is a wonderful food, almost perfect, but Natural Balance is also wonderful, and it's cheap and more readily available. That's what I feed my dog. Now, ask your vet how much of the dry food you should be feeding your pup. Explain that you're trying to help him lose weight. Don't be surprised if the number is very low. Dogs need a lot less than we think. My heeler mix, at 56 lbs, eats two cups, two and a half on a very active day.

As for excersise, playing ball is a wonderful activity! It's a blast for him, and you'll have fun as well, knowing your pup is having fun and losing weight. Also, try out a laser. Some dogs (toy breeds and terriers, I've noticed, but probably others) LOVE to chase lasers. The good thing about this is that you can play with him while you're doing homework. Write with one hand and laser with the other :) Or when you're watching TV or playing on the internet, you can just wave the light around. Another fun thing is if you ever get a chance to take him to a lake or river or pond or something, you can let him swim! That's always fun. The ultimate fun play time, though, is playing with other dogs. Introduce them properly, and then if they like each other, let them loose in the backyard. Dogs can play with each other like you wouldn't believe. It's crazy! They'll go on for hours!

So heres my problem...

my parents are really uptight, and a little closed minded when it comes to my future. They still have this picture perfect mental image of me graduating with honors, and getting a bussiness degree, and starting a normal life. Problem is, I dont want that. I have bigger plans, and a passion for music so great its almost unreal. All i want to do with my life is something meaningful, and inspiring to others like me. Sure it may sound like a childish dream, i want to be a rockstar kind of thing, but hey who ever said we cant dream big right?

My question is, how do I get them to realize its not going to be how they picture it. every time i try to confront them about it, they brush it off as if to say "you think thats what you want to do" but i dont think, i know. thats what they dont seem to understand, becuase they never had a passion like I have.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Give music a shot. They'll seem angry as hell for a while, but they'll be proud that you are trying hard to accomplish your dreams. Your parents know what it's like, even if they don't tell you. They were 17 once, after all. For example, my parents want me to have a good job with good pay. But I want to work with dogs. So in February, I'm going to be spending all my savings (and risking my credit by taking out a loan!) to start a doggie daycare facility. And you know why? Because I want to, and when I look back, I don't want to say "what if..." I could go bankrupt, and never be able to start another business, buy a house, or even get a measly cell phone, because my credit sucks. But I might also learn that this is what I need to do with my life. This will be the start of something big, whether I succeed or not, and it will be for you, too. I wish you the best of luck.

Okay, there's Tim and Harry. Tim is really cold hearted, doesn't care about others that much, blah blah. In a cute way. Harry is overly sensative and over dramaatic most of the time. Well, they are both gay and they've been friends for a while and they're perfect for each other (in a friend way mind you)

Well, Harry told Tim something that he was apparently sad about and Tim thought it was funny how Harry was making a stupid incident so dramatic and laughed and told Jen who is a really good friend of Harrys. Then Harry goes and says "I can't believe you! You're laughing and telling everyone about a sad troy?!!" or something like that. SO basically Harry is mad at Tim and TIm doesn't care and thinks it's funny and now Harry is all not hyper and somber looking most of the time and he's ignoring Tim whom I am always with at school and so I don't get to wlak with Harry to classes sometimes now. The thing is Harry won't forgive Tim unless Tim says he's sorry which TIm isn't going to do anytime soon.

So how can I get them to be friends again?> How can I get Tim to say sorry to Harry? ( I already tired the--"But you're being so mean throwing away such a good friendship" and all that stuff and it didn't work on Tim)

Can anyone help me??? I'm stuck in the middle and it's a very awkward position for me..

Tim's being a jackass, and there's nothing you can do about that. He knows Harry thought it was important, and he's not sensitive to his friend's feelings.

i was wondering the difficulties of taking care of a yorke are. i'm 14 years old and i live with my 12 year old brother and parents, and i was wondering if this would be a good enviornment for a yorke. i was also wondering about any cute orginal names for a little yorke thats male, thank you in advance.

Yorkshire terriers are wonderful dogs, but they ARE terriers. Terriers were bred to chase vermin (rats, mice, maybe snakes) They are VERY stubborn little creatures. They are hard to train and notorious to housetrain. Terriers, along with every other breed group, need lots of socialization. Do you know lots of races of people? Do you know people in wheelchairs, on crutches? You need to get your dog socialized to these people. Terriers also need LOTS of excesize. That means you need to get him a harness and walk him before school, and after school, and maybe around dinner, and just before bed. Yorkies, contrary to popular belief, are not fashion accessories to be carried around in your new gucci bag. Also, a properly bred yorkie should be 5-7 lbs. Do not buy a "teacup" yorkie, or one that is four pounds or less. A "teacup" yorkie, or a "teacup" any breed is not a "super cute special breed" it is an unhealthy mutant. What will you do with the dog when you go off to college? I don't mean to sound mean, I really don't I just want you to know the realities.

Well I really really want a cat badly. I've had about 3 cats in my life and they were all bad. They scratched up the furnature or stunk up the whole house. Well basicly I really want a cat. My mom says no she says shell never get me a cat ever again. But I really want one. I keep telling her ill be responsible but she keeps saying NO. What can I tell her or do she can let me get a kitty?.! Help please!

The kitten usually will end up in a shelter. That's what you should do, is volunteer at your local shelter. You'll be taking on responsibility, and it's one hell of a responsiblity, at that. You'll scoop litter until your nose burns and then some, brush the cats, feed them daily, help with feeding, and help with euths. It can be so rewarding, though, and it gives you responsibility. Once your mom knows that, promise to her you'll do all those things you do there - and follow through on that promise!! Cats are not just animals you can keep food out for and maybe clean their litter box once a week. You need to dedicate at least 1.5 hours a day to your kitten; it depends on you. Promise to have the cat spayed or neutered or better yet, adopt one you have come to grow attached to in your volunteering. Think this all through. What will you do with your cat when you go to college?

I have a female, seven year old dog that is a rat terrier. For almost four months, she has had a bump on her right side. It's about half the size of a nickel. What could this be?

It could be a bug bite, it could be cancer. Take your dog to the vet.

Okay so im getting this kitten and its a boy but i dont know what im gonna need for him as far as supplies so can anyone give me a list of things i will need for him and 2 more things 1st one does anyone know the best brand food for kittens? 2nd thing does anyone know any good names for a baby boy kitten?

The best food you will find won't be found in a grocery store. Purina, Iams, Kit'n Caboodle, Meow Mix.... all that stuff is CRAP. Look for food where the first ingredient is meat. Corn is never good, avoid it at all costs. I personally use Natural Balance for my cat, and he's got a wonderful shiny coat, and he's healthy as can be. Other good foods are Innova, Felidae and Royal Canin. Nutro is OK, too. You'll pay a little more initially (about $1.25 per lb of food) but you'll save money in the long run because your cat won't be constantly sick and won't be highly overweight. Also, you can give your kitten raw chicken bones to gnaw on. Raw chicken bones do NOT splinter like cooked ones do. They will clean his teeth very nicely and you will save money on dentals for your cat.

ok well my friend max is an athiest. he doesnt belive in any kind of god. hes like a science nerd so that probably has something to do with it. well i really want him to belive in God but i dont know how i can talk to him about it. we arent close enough to talk about that stuff. what should i do?

How would you like it if someone came up to you and said "Stop believing in Christ, there is no such person, Christians are fools!" I imagine you wouldn't be very happy at all! Nor would I! This is the same way Max would feel if you told him "Believe in Christ, athiests are fools!"

Don't talk to him, be an example. Let your light shine through, and be the happiest, most upbeat person you can be. Be reliable. Let people come to you with problems, and show without telling him that Christ has made a positive impact on your life.

Another thing you might consider is asking him about science and what he believes and why he believes this. For example, as a christian, I am incredibly confused about the genus Homo. I believe with all my heart that we evolved from homo erectus. Why else would it look so much like us? But my Bible tells me God created us in His image. So, is God homo erectus?

It will take a while. It's not uncommon for people to take years or even decades to accept Christ. Many never do. Pray for him, do what I said, and just leave it to God.

I need help. I do not know what to do and no matter what choise i make i will end up hurting someone. So heres the story of my life...
I Love this kid named Mark* and well he broke up with me planning on getting back together with me, and after 3 weeks this kid named Brad* asked me out and I said yes, dont get me wrong i do like him. But when it comes down to it, Mark is the one i want to be with. Mark and Brad are totally two different people. Mark is kind of bad ass... different, stubborn at times, knows what he wants and doesnt let people stomp all over him. And Brad well, hes sweet, caring, romantic, yeah sounds like the ideal guy right? BUT my heart keeps going mack to Mark and i like the bad ass kind of guy, and also mark has lied to me in the past and hurt me, but i just cant seem to let go of him... and i feel like if i leave brad i will be alone because i dont know if mark still likes me and even if he does i dont know if things could ever be the same again, and if i stay with Brad i feel like i am gonna hurt him for me being with him and wanting to be with mark... ahh i dont know im confused, I like brad i do... but i like mark more... but i guss i am trying to convinse myself that if i stay with brad my feeling for him will grow..... i dont know what to do.. any advise?

Stop leading Brad on. You're going to do this for a while; thinking, "Well if we keep dating, I will like him more" and then you won't, but he WILL like you more. Dump the poor kid.

hello i would really love a dog because i love animals and have always wanted a dog. My dad loves dogs but the problem is that we have 2 cats, is thier anyway we can teach them or get a special type of dog?

Go to petfinder.com and go to pet search. Select "Dog" under "Animal" and then type in the breed you prefer. Enter your critereon and click search. If a dog is not good with cats, there will be a figure of a purple cat with a line through it. You can contanct almost every shelter via email, and see if a certain dog is good with cats (almost all reputable shelters test for cat-aggressiveness). Don't listen to the people who say you need a puppy; puppies are a lot more work than adult dogs, and adults are far harder to find homes for :(

I adopted my dog at the age of 6 and he pretty much ignores the cats :)

Just curious, why don't you want your dad to know? Your dad may be strict, but he's a part of your family as well, and he loves you guys and cares for you guys.

Guys like video games, generally. Maybe a DVD? Get him something personal, you know the guy, you know what he likes :) If he likes sports, maybe get him a signed ball, glove, or jersey? A signed guitar if he's into music? It depends on what he likes and what you're willing to spend.

One of my closest friends just recently admitted to me something that I found quite disturbing.

She told me a couple days ago " no offense, but my cats are more important to me than any of my friends or family.

She said if her house were on fire the first thing she would grad were her cats, and not her parents or friends!!

I didn't say anything but I was quite upset. I would always pick my friends and family over my pets.

Am i overreacting to being upset?

Well, I tell you what. If I were in the house, at night, like usual, and things were like usual, I'd do it like this.
-Wake up.
-Notice the house is on fire.
-Say 'oh crap' while putting pants on
-Throw open the window and shove the screen out.
-Pick up the dog and throw him out the window.
-Go help the rest of the family.

Of course, my dog is a heeler, and those are tougher than nails, basically. But also he'd probably jump back into the window, and thus, the fire, to be able to see me. He may be tougher than nails, but he's also very needy. This isn't helpful in the least, I'm sorry.
