I love cats. I got a new kitten a few months ago and I'm now a kitten-care pro. So here's what you do:

For supplies, you are going to need kitty litter, a plastic box for a litter box (a baby wading tub or something like that), De-Odorizer so it doesn't stink the place up, and maybe a small cat toy to keep him amused. A great brand of cat food is Nutro Natural Choice for Kittens. It's got all the nourishment and vitamins for him to grow properly. Stay away from stuff like Meow Mix....that's just junk food.

Once you've gotten the kitty, keep him in an enclosed room where he can freely roam and explore, like the laundry room or the bathroom. Remove all large and objects that he could knock over, small pieces (beads, screws and the like) that he could choke on, or anything that you don't want broken. NO FISHBOWLS.

Prepare him a place to sleep with a small basket and a folded up towel. Go in the room every so often and play with him to keep him company.

Once he's been enclosed for about a week, let him out a little more so that he can explore the hallway. Bring him out every day for about a week. If you have other cats in the house, put the kitten under a laundry basket so the other cats can smell him.

Eventually, you can just let him run around the house. If he starts getting on the dinner table at dinner, you'll have to discipline him. Have a little squirt bottle with you....when he's on the dinner table, just squirt him and he'll fly away. Keep doing this until he starts avoiding the dinner table out of habit.

Here's a great site with loads of cat names:

Have fun with the kitten!!!!!

I went through the same thing when I got my kitten.

For food I highly recommend Purina Kitten Chow. It's high in vitamins and it contains vital antioxidents for your kitten's growth. My cat loved it when she was a kitten!

For boy kittens names, I personally like:

*Midnight
*Star
*Stripes
*Gizmo
*Doodle
*Wally

I also came across a great site for naming male kittens:[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

They have like hundreds of names to choose from, plus a naming guide if you still can't decide.

Hope I helped =]

usually if you go to a pet store or talk to the person that sold you the cat they can let you know what kind of food you should feed your cat. also try different things and see what he likes best.

The best food you will find won't be found in a grocery store. Purina, Iams, Kit'n Caboodle, Meow Mix.... all that stuff is CRAP. Look for food where the first ingredient is meat. Corn is never good, avoid it at all costs. I personally use Natural Balance for my cat, and he's got a wonderful shiny coat, and he's healthy as can be. Other good foods are Innova, Felidae and Royal Canin. Nutro is OK, too. You'll pay a little more initially (about $1.25 per lb of food) but you'll save money in the long run because your cat won't be constantly sick and won't be highly overweight. Also, you can give your kitten raw chicken bones to gnaw on. Raw chicken bones do NOT splinter like cooked ones do. They will clean his teeth very nicely and you will save money on dentals for your cat.

sounds like your pretty excited for him, so why not spoil him a little bit?! since he's a kitten, he'll probably like something to play with so you can get that at any pet store or walmart. usually something that rolls or jingles is good! also he'll probably like some sort of bed, place to call his. so you can make one out of old pillows and box or you can go buy a cute one at a store. oh and also he'll need something to eat out of so make sure you have a bowl for food and a bowl for water...box with kitty litter in it. tidy cats is what i use for my cat's litter. and as far as kitten food goes, you could give him some variety. get some dry food made for kittens (says it on the bag) and you could also get some of the canned food for cats too. i'm not really sure if there's one specific brand thats better than the other, so just experiment. if your cat is picky like mine, he might not eat one brand at all and love another. so just see! some good names hmm well its hard to think of those off the top of my head since i dont know your kitten. try watching him and seeing some weird things that he does, or a special marking on him...you'll figure it out once you get to know your cat! xoxo helpachick

well 1st the best brand is I AM.. you can buy diff kinds. There's a specific type for kittens. 2nd umm you can name it by its behavior? observe it and think of a name that fit. (hope that helps). and othet items are: toys (littly mouse, scratch pat, etc. ), litter box, food, cat nip, place for it to sleep and I that's pretty much it. I hope it works out. Hopefully things I listed help. good luck =]
