Of course, my dog is a heeler, and those are tougher than nails, basically. But also he'd probably jump back into the window, and thus, the fire, to be able to see me. He may be tougher than nails, but he's also very needy. This isn't helpful in the least, I'm sorry. [ stephanerd's advice column | Ask stephanerd A Question ]

FunnyCide answered Friday September 23 2005, 6:09 pm: That's a little odd, I must admit. I would definitely go for my family and friends before I would even THINK about the animals. Animals have a sixth-sense, so to speak. They can tell if the house is on fire or sense a danger before humans. Cats have been known to save peoples lives, warning them of burglers and prowlers, helping them escape fires and gas leaks. The cats will KNOW if the house is on fire.
I don't really think you're over reacting that much, I can understand your feelings though.
Just ask her if she'd at least yell to you that the house is on fire. I mean, you have two legs right?
Another good question to ask her would be if you were injured, would she help you, or would she go for the cats. (Remember, the cats are going to be frantic, trying to find a way to get out!)
I know that I'd always go for my friends and family. I've recently discovered what it really means to care for someone greatly - I know that I'd give my life (or a limb, anything) for one person. Including in a fire. I would be more worried about that one person (then the rest of my friends and family) than I would any material item or pet.
Let's just hope and pray that you're not stuck in a burning house with her. :)
tasuki answered Friday September 23 2005, 6:43 am: Eh. I think it's an over-reaction. I mean, you and her parents would probably be able to get of the fire on your own. The cats can't open doors and don't know to get out. They are helpless. I say still be her friend and don't be hurt by this, and don't waste too much emotion on her because you know she won't return most of it. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]

Teza answered Thursday September 22 2005, 6:16 pm: Well, it's not that you are overreacting its just that you are worrying too much about it. I mean it is her decision and I guess her cats are just way more important. She isn't saying that she doesn't like you as a friend or anything, but its just her decision. I personaly would pick my family and friends first before my pets, even if they meant a lot to me, family & friends always come first. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
twizzler2 answered Thursday September 22 2005, 5:57 pm: i hate to sound mean or whatever but that is her choice. she isnt saying "ohh i would ONLY save my pets" she just said "i would save my pets 1st". this isnt lyk she doesnt care about you. My pets/animals are very important to me. This definately doesnt mean i hate or want my friends to die. NO WAY and im sure your friend is the same way. people have different opinions and you sometimes just have to accept it...even if you don't like it. hope i didnt sound rude or anything!
