hello i would really love a dog because i love animals and have always wanted a dog. My dad loves dogs but the problem is that we have 2 cats, is thier anyway we can teach them or get a special type of dog?

Enter your critereon and click search. If a dog is not good with cats, there will be a figure of a purple cat with a line through it. You can contanct almost every shelter via email, and see if a certain dog is good with cats (almost all reputable shelters test for cat-aggressiveness). Don't listen to the people who say you need a puppy; puppies are a lot more work than adult dogs, and adults are far harder to find homes for :(

Have fun with your new puppy!!! [ rick505's advice column | Ask rick505 A Question ]

They'll hate each other for a few weeks, and after that they'll still be pretty edgy, but it should calm down eventually. You should get a smaller breed, because large dogs can kill cats. Also, if you're up to it, get a puppy. That way, the dog will atleast grow up used to the cats.

It may take the cats a couple of days to get used to the dog, but I don't think you will have any problem having a dog with your two cats. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
