About The_MoUsY_spell_checker

I first signed up because I saw really simple computer questions with no answers, and I just had to answer them. Today, my column still has more answers to questions about computers than anything else, but feel free to ask about anything. I can follow up on questions too.

I have been the featured columnist on 16 October 2005, 01 May 2006, 18 December 2007, 12 July 2008, 02 February 2009, 08 March 2009, 24 May 2009, 29 September 2009, 12 November 2009, 05 January 2010, 06 January 2010, and 26 April 2010.

ok um i have mozilla firefox, and like every now and then, it'll get stuck so I close it and when i click on the icon again to open it, it asks me which account I'd like to use. The one i was just on it wont let me go on. Why does this happen? Its really annoying because all the sites I went on with the other username arent on the one Im on now. Is there any way I can switch back to my other username? Please help me. ♥

It's because the program crashed but cannot completely close. End it manually.
1. Open the task manager (either right click the task bar and choose "Task Manger" or press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on your keyboard).
2. Click the "Processes" tab.
3. Click on "firefox.exe" and then the "End Process" button.

Hello, I'm a girl and I'm 14. I have a lot of fat around my buttocks, thighs, and my stomach. I'm actually had a woman at an amusement park ask me if I was pregnant! (If I was she wasn't going to let me ride a certain thing.) I didn't think I looked that bad until that day so now I'm worried about losing weight. I'm 130 pounds so I figure my goal will be to lose 20 pounds, but more importantly lose the fat. Has anyone got any tips, rountines, and exercises I should try? I like in the country so I haven't got any good places to run and it's so hot here. I can't swim, btw. Anyway, please help me lose the extra pounds so I can feel confident again!

First of all, 130 pounds isn't too much. However, if you want to lose weight:

-Don't drink sugary drinks such as soda or pop, not even the diet variety because the sugar substitutes can lead to an increased appetite. Make sure you drink enough water, because you can feel more hungry if you're dehydrated.

-Don't sit down right after a meal, becuase more fat goes to your stomach that way. If you can, stay standing up for an hour after each meal.

-Weigh-lifting helps you build muscle, which helps you burn more fat. Just be careful not to hurt yourself. I would recommend that you use weights that are no more than 5 pounds.

-Jumping rope is good because you can do that at home.

-If possible, do your own cooking because that makes you eat less.

-Don't keep junk food at home.

Is it true that a person can become skinnier but still weigh as much as they did when they where fat? Like that whole "muscle weighs more than fat", is that true? So, could I be skinny but still weigh a lot on the scale? Please explain that concept to me. Thanks!
P.S- I am 14/F if you need to know that;)
Also, I am about 145 pounds and 5ft 4in.

Yes, it's true. Muscle is denser than fat, which means that 1 pound of fat will take up more space than 1 pound of muscle; therefore if you lost fat and gained muscle, you can still weigh a lot but you will look thinner. This is also why bodybuilders can have very little body fat and still weigh a lot.

when i log onto myspace, this sign comes up:
http://i2.tinypic.com/2005vs8.jpg

and so then, i type in my password and email, but than this sign comes up:
http://i1.tinypic.com/2005w7n.jpg

PLZZZ HELP!

The computer has a firewall that stops it from accessing Myspace.

If this is your home computer, ask your parents (or anyone else that's in charge of the computer) why they blocked it.

Yes, it is possible to get around the block, but keep in mind that if you try to do that, you'll probably get in trouble and they'll ban you from using the computer altogether. Explain to them why you think you should be allowed to use it, and don't stay on the computer for too long.

If this is at school, the staff do have a reason to block it: you shouldn't be using the school resources for this.

I'm not asking this question to be funny or to play stupid, but I'm actually really curious. I've been wondering for a while, when you lose weight, where does it actually go? Does that make sence? Thank you.

The question does sound a bit funny, but it's actually a very interesting way of looking at it.

When you lose weight, it is because you use up your body fat in metabolism. The fats are broken down to other chemicals such as ketones, and energy is released. Most of the byproducts are removed when you go to the toilet.

The body also produces carbon dioxide when generating energy, and that is breathed out.

ok. well i was wondering if it's true that you miss chances to grow if you wear a bra at night. like a bra with an underwire and such as you would wear during the daytime. answers are very much appreciated, and thanks ahead of time!

That's not true. Think about it, that would be like saying that wearing clothes stop you from growing.

Of course, you might not want to wear an underwire bra at night if it's uncomfortable, and if you're lying down then you don't need the bra to support your breasts.

By the way, you don't need the apostrophe in the title.

Okay...I'm only 13 1/2 and I know what an orgasm feels like and I have them on purpose. I use this massage thing that you're supposed to use on your back. I keep thinking i'm really abnormal because i "like" having them and I do it about every other day...am I too young to be doing this? SHOULD I be doing it? No one knows I do it at all. IF it's okay for me to be doing this, would it be okay to tell my mom maybe? I share everything with her and she's a nurse so I don't think she'd be freaked out or anything but i think i would be very embarrassed if even she knew. PLEASE HELP!

First of all, it's normal to like the feeling. It's natural. It's only a problem if you're obsessed with it to the point where it inteferes with other things.

You don't NEED to tell your mom if you don't want to, but really, you don't have to be embarassed about it.

First, thanks for reading this. I've been dating a 40 yr old man, Chris, for a couple of weeks, and we get along really well, I like him a lot, and he feels the same way. Last week, I met a guy online, Jon, who is 26, much closer to my age of 22. Jon and I have an amazing connection, he's everything I ever wanted in a man, except that he smokes...and he lives two hours away. I'm having trouble deciding which relationship to pursue. Should I drop Chris and see where things go with Jon, even if I'd only see him once or twice a week, or forget about Jon and keep seeing Chris, who lives in my town? I'm so confused, and I really need help! Do you have any suggestions on what I should do to decide? Thanks!

You said that you met Jon online last week. By that, does it mean that you have never met him in person? If that's the case, I don't think it would be a good idea to stop seeing Chris just for a chance with him. Also, are you even sure that you want to meet (in person) someone that you've met online last week?

If you've already met Jon in person, that's a different story. It's still going to be easier for you to be with someone that lives in your town, but if you've met him in person then at least you know what you're going for.

Other things to consider: do you think that Jon likes you back? You said that Chris likes you. If you're not sure, it's not really worth the risk, is it?

OK, well, i have a mac laptop and i was wondering if anyone knew some good games, or where to get Sims 2 on mac along with the add-ons. Cuz i'm really bored with games i get from apple.com, and i don't want to trade in my mac for a pc laptop, cuz i love my mac, so some help would be grately appreciated! I rate fairly, if something doesn't help me, and its just all nonsense and all that. anyway, thanks in advance!!

According to Wikipedia, there's a Mac version of Sims 2. I don't think the expansion packs are available though. Many other games also have a Mac version, try searching on Google to see which ones do.

If there's a game that you want that doesn't have a Mac version, you can try installing a Windows emulator on your Mac, but it will probably be very expensive.

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to increase your max. limit of feedback rating points from 250 to 350 (or anything)?

If you mean the number of ratings that show on "Your Feedback", no, you can't change it.

I bought a pet rat a few days ago. I've kept hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs but never a rat before. We're getting on well and she's sitting on my desk as I type this. She seems healthy -- shiny thick coat, bright eyes, clean tail, eats plentifully -- but she sneezes an awful lot. Is it just dust or might she be sick? Incidentally, her cage bedding is recycled paper, not wood shavings.

Like the others have already said, wood shavings are more suitable for rat cage bedding than recycled paper. However, DO NOT use pine or cedar shavings. Those are toxic, and they will cause more sneezing.

I'm really pale. I mean, my body refuses to tan easily. I mean, I've layed out in the sun for about an hour and I have some tan lines but not really noticable. How can I tan better? I don't want to be the pale girl anymore! Oh and whenever I'm outside, I seem to get a lot of freckles...how can I stop that? Thanks~

Getting freckles is a sign that you've had too much sunlight. Really, even if you don't get freckles, UV radiation from the sun is still bad for your skin.

To avoid freckles, use sunscreen when you go out, and try not to stay in direct sunlight for too long.

Note that sunscreen does not stop you from tanning. If your skin will tan, it will tan even if you have sunscreen on.

Anyway, if you stayed outside for an hour and still didn't tan, fake tan is probably the best for you.

you know how in little kid's boutiques they have clothes that have patches on them that have like candy logos? like soffe shorts with a bazooks bubblegum logo on it? the logo isn't apart of the fabric. the deigners get some kind of patch and put it on regular old soffe shorts and make like 20 dollars off of 7 dollar shorts just cause of the patch. I want to know how to get things like this to put on shirts and how to put them on, or how to somehow make logos into things to put on shirts. thanks!

You can buy a special material for printing iron-on transfers from most computer shops. Try somewhere that sells printers. You can print any images on your computer onto these.

There is also double-sided iron-on material that you can buy from fabric shops. Those are for attaching fabric logos to clothes.

If you want to advertise your advice column, the best thing to do is to answer as many public questions as you can. If you answer them well, other people will notice you.

If you have an account on an internet forum, you can also put a link to your advice column in your signature.

Trading links with websites also works. It helps if you can make a logo for your column.

Everytime I take a shower, I end up losing a lot of hair for some reason. Like when I'm washing my hair and I run my fingers through it, I get a lot of hair falling out. Even when I brush my hair after the shower I still lose a lot. And I use a Garneir conditioner and it makes my hair soft and so its not like its tangly and I'm pulling hair out... it just comes out when I brush it... why does it do that?

It is normal for some hair to fall out each day. This is especially true if your hair is really long, because each hair has a limited lifetime, and long hair tends to be more fragile.

To minimise hair loss, you should:
-Use conditioner so that your hair doesn't get tangled.
-Don't brush your hair unnecessarily. In other words, only brush your hair to style it, don't brush to "massage your scalp".
-If you tie your hair up, use coated elastics (preferably the ones without a metal part), and don't tie too tightly.
-Make sure you eat well. A deficiency in vitamins or minerals can cause hair loss. (This does not mean that you should take vitamin pills. Just make sure you have a balanced diet.)

If you think you're losing more hair than you should (for example, if your hair is getting noticably thinner), go see a doctor just in case.

Is it out of line to correct somebody who you know is wrong in your answer? For example, say the question is "should I keep my pony?" and another person replies "no because a pony is a baby horse so you won't go as far on him", is it out of line to say "Actually, a pony is just a horse who is under 14.2 hh" blah, blah, blah?

If it's a question here, then I think you should just put what you think is correct in your answer. It would help the person who asked the question. Just don't attack the person that you are correcting.

Even in other situations, it's usually OK to correct other people as long as you don't make it a personal attack.

hey you answered my copyright question a while back. since its fairly expensive, do you know if id be able to, for example, put three songs on the same copyright? im in the US.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've never tried submitting anything for copyright, and I'm not in the US either.

From what I can find on the Copyright Office site (http://www.copyright.gov), I think that separate titles are indexed separately and therefore require separate payment.

my friend told me that if you put lemon juice in your hair and go into the sun that it would make ur hair lighther is that ture?
would it would if you have meduim brown hair
and how do you do it ?

Yes, it usually gives noticable results, and it is best for giving yourself highlights. There's no telling how well it will work on you, but generally you will get natural-looking highlights. It's worth trying.

Remember that even though lemon juice is natural, it can still make your hair dry, so make sure you use conditioner afterwards.

ok so im in the process of writting a couple of songs, and when im done im gonna want to put them up on a music myspace. im not a particulatly good singer and dont plan on starting an actual band, but i want to claim the songs as my own. i was wondering what i would have to go through to get a simple copyright so noone could steal my lyrics.

You automatically own the copyright to your work even if you don't do anything about it, but if you want to copyright to be enforceable, you need to register it with your local copyright agency.

For example, if you're in the United States, go to http://www.copyright.gov/ for information on how to register. If you're not in the United States, search on Google for your local copyright agency.

This will involve mailing a form and a copy of your song. I don't know if it means you'll have to write out the music or if you can just send a recording.
