40s - f - uk.
I've recently been diagnosed with COPD which is Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease. I also have unstable asthma. Due to this I have to take steroids quite often which makes me put on weight. The extra weight is not good as it puts more strain on my lungs. I am trying to be careful with what I eat. I'm not fat as such, but definitely under height for my weight!
I find it very difficult to exercise, walk far etc, due to the lung disease, but I need some form of exercise to try to keep the COPD at bay as long as possible.
Also, due in part to the steroids I have early onset osteoporosis, so exercise would be good for that as well. Doctors have not really been much help. Any suggestions please? (link)
|
You really should consult your doctor before you take up any form of exercise- every exercise regime recommends that you do.
I'd try something fairly low impact, like pilates or yoga. However you really want to check with your doctor before hand.
Some gyms have open houses. It's a great way to go in talk to a trainer, and get some advice on exercises that would be alright for you, see what classes and machines they have avaliable. You don't have to sign up either, but it's a good way to get some information from someone who knows a lot more about this than myself.
You might want to check out this site, it has message boards for people with COPD to share information, like exercises, with one another: http://www.copd-international.com/

first of all its not an STD b/c my b/fs never been with sum1 n neither have i.....but it sumtimes burns when i pee and i have a little tiny sliver like thing...and ive been getting them since i was little....and i do wear thongs n tight fitting cloths....what could it be a yeast infection? (link)
|
ditto to Rahzie's answer. It could be a UTI, but more likely a bladder infection since you've been having the problem since you were younger. Get to the doctor, he'll make you pee in a cup, and then probably give you some antibiotics.

I'm just curious. About how much money does an average parent spend on his/her child per year, including food, insurance, school, clothes, furniture, everything? (link)

Ok, this question is preferably for guys.
You and your girlfriend are playing a sport (how about soccer) and she's pretty good at it. Do you like a girl who gives it her all and plays like she's one of the boys--even if she beats you? Like if you don't know how good she is until you're playing with her, would you want her to hold back just a little so you both will have more fun and it would be more.. flirty, I guess? Because wouldn't you feel stupid if she was more manly at a sport than you are? And if she played as best as she could and beat you, wouldn't the relationship be more competitive then romantic?
(link)
|
I'm not a guy, but I wouldn't hold back how good you are. I mean, I don't really see the point. Because if he comes to one of your games, or all of a sudden you get really good, he's going to be like "hey she lied to me". It might be a bit of a blow to his ego to find out you thought being better than him at a game would hurt him that much. Besides, really, what good has ever come of selling yourself short?
That said, go with the flow of the game. If it's just a fun, play around game, then relax, but if it gets competitive, play competitive.
A relationship isn't going to be competitive if you two are comfortable enough to be yourselves around one another- you won't feel like you have to impress one another, and one up each other, or in your case hold back.

My one friend was being very mean to me on the phone, and I didn't do anything at all! Well this is how it started (sorry this might be long)...
Well my one friend usually calls me about everyday, and I noticed she hadn't called all day yesterday or today, so I thought I'd give her a call. Everything was fine until I asked her if she was gonig to an amusement park for our school or something. She said that her parents would never let her. So I started making these little crying noises because I did want her to go. Then she gets all mean telling me to stop making those squeaking noises. I told her I was just kidding, and she said that it gets annoying sometimes. I couldn't believe that she said that! I mean we're girls! We all make weird noises, especially squeaking ones! After that it was quiet for a while. Then she was talking to me like nothing really happned.
I was trying to figure out why she said that. I thought maybe it was because she might have been jealous because she couldn't go to the amusement park, but she didn't sound so dissapointed about it. Also, it was very hot outside today, and I know they don't have air conditioning, So I thought she might be hot, and irritable. I'm not sure. She seemed like she was in a bad mood, but then she didn't. It was very strange. Maybe she was moody, but I really don't know.
I'm getting kind of worried because I'm affraid she might call our other friends and tell them, which I don't think she will, I sure hope not! But I don't think our friends would get mad, because we all make weird noises for fun. Maybe she was just annoyed and not in the mood for talking, but then again, she didn't seem like it. Like she talked to me on the phone how she always does, but it was different in a way. I don't know, I'm very confused. So do any of you know why she was acting this way? Thanks! (link)
|
She was probably mad that she can't go to the amusement park. She's probably talked it over a hundred times with her parents- making her irritable, and you crying just seemed to rub it in that she can't change it.
I'd just give her a day or two, she'll probably be gfine.

your breasts grow until your early twenties, but they can always get smaller or bigger with weight gain/loss or pregnancy.

Okay, so I was trying to get my ear holes to a 16ga, and I couldn't find a nail or anything, so I used this broken earing, and the part that is supposed to go through your ear broke off, so I used the hoop part. Now, this isn't sterling silver, its a cheap earing. Is their any chance that I could have infected my ear, because I didn't sterylize it, but i thought if I got it hot it would melt.
My friend pierced her ear without starylizing it and she almost got blood poisioning.
2 questions:
1. Is there a chance I could get infected or blood poisioning? the earring wasnt dirty or anything.
2. What are some ways I can prevent any infections right now?
PLZ HELP FAST! (link)
|
There is a huge chance your holes will get infected!
You never want to stick something dirty through your skin, here's an easy way to remeber how NOT to do this, if its too dirty to put in your mouth, don't put it in any orfices.
Keep cleaning them, but try not to touch them too much. You can use a gentle soap like a baby soap or physioderm, but it might be wise to go to an actual parlor and pick up some of their cleaning solution. If you can put gold or surgical steel earrings in, they tend to irritate the ears less. If they are super painful, go to the doctor.

26 year old female, I've know this guy for over a year, we've always been friends and there has always been an attraction between us but he had a girlfriend until a few months ago. For the past few weeks we've been hooking up he's said he isn't ready for a relationship but since we've been together he's treating me like a girlfriend almost we talk all the time, hang out almost everyday he got his feelings hurt when i didn't call him one weekend. I'm not sure if this means he has feelings for me or if he just wants booty. (link)
|
I think the only way to figure it out is to put it right out there.
Tell him you want more from the relationship- you like him too much for this to just be casual, because if not you get to be his girlfriend without him having to actually declare it. From your question though it does seem like he wants more.

Hello. My name is Whitney and about a year ago the doctors found out that I was lactose intolerant. On the 18th of July, they want me to go to a local hospital and get this treatment done. Here is an explanation from what I understand about what is going to happen: I go to the hospital and stay for 3 hours. I drink some sort of liquid and breathe into a bag every 30 minutes.
This is what I am a little concerned about. I don't know what that liquid is that I have to drink. Does anyone know? My mom thought it was going to be lactose.. but my case is very severe. I throw up instantly and my stomache feels like it erodes when I drink//eat something with lactose in it. I HATE being sick from the result of lactose. If it is lactose, will they give me something to stop the vomiting or the upset stomache?
Please, only answer if you have, or you personally know someone that has had this treatment done. I am very nervous and unsure, so I would be very thankful if you could give me a well-detailed answer.
I will rate high.
Thank you in advance..
--Whitney (link)

The hospital will give you a drink high in lactose, and then when you breath into the bag they will be testing for hydrogen.
I think they will give you something for the upset stomach and vomitting, however when you get to the hospital explain your situation to the doctor beforehand. It shouldn't be as bad as normally however, because you don't eat before you're tested. If your nervous feel free to ask any questions, they'll be more than happy to explain them properly.
This site explains what happens when you get tested

Every time I go to buy jeans, my mom thinks that they are supposed to fit baggy and come up to your belly button. I've tried to tell her that they are supposed to be low rise and tight, but she just tells me not to argue with her and gets really mad.
What can I do?
P.S.-She's the only one that will buy me jeans, so I can't get them from anyone else. (link)
|
show her a magazine, or when your friends come by point out (after) how their jeans fit. Or sit her down in front of an episode of What Not To Wear, she'll soon understand what and why "mom jeans" are atroscious.
If that doesn't work, go shopping with your friends before shopping with your mom, pick out a bunch of pairs of jeans, put them on hold, and try them on for your mom.

Alright so in the middle of like May I got birth control. I started it right when I got it because I had just finished my period and that's when you're suppossed to start. Anyways, the last week in June I got my period (a little late but that's normal i guess) but it was EXTRMEMLY heavy and I honestly thought I was having a miscarrage (im a virgin so i knew i wasnt but thats how bad it was) and I even had to leave work early. Anyways, on Friday (today's Sunday) I noticed that I was getting my period AGAIN. After only a week. It's extrememly light this time and it's more of a brown color (sorry if that's too graphic) and I can get away with a light tampon all day.
Is this normal for being on birth control or should I be worried?
15/f if that helps. (link)
|
No, this is not normal. You should go to your doctor and explain what's going on, and they'll probably recommend a different dosage of hormones, and therefore a different birth control. The birth control hormones are not "messing" with your body, they're meant to mimic the hormones the female body releases naturally, some girls need more, some girls need less. Generally birth control is supposed to lessen symptoms associated with menstruating like cramps, and heavy flow, not increase them.
Although it does take your body a little while to adjust to birth control, hence the spotting (which again seems too heavy), your period shouldn't be interferring with your life.

My dad is mad at me because I bought a bathing suit that cost $35. It was really good quality and material, and it's the one I've been wanting for a month now! It's really pretty and I don't have ANY other bathing suits that fit me. I think $35 for both pieces is cheap considering at American Eagle they are much more then that. Do you think it's a good price? My dad flipped out on me! He said to go to Walmart and get $10 ones, but personally I think all the clothes at Walmart are crap and they arn't even worth $15 ! How do I explain that $35 is a good price for a bathing suit, and even though Walmart's is cheaper, it's not good quality. He said if I can think of 3 good reasons to why the bathing suit is worth $35 I can keep it. Help? (link)
|
Most stores have a final sale policy on bathing suits so I don't know if you'd be able to return it all.
The easiest way to explain to him is show him other websites of stores that sell bathing suits like Victoria's Secret, Bikini Village, American Eagle etc. Tell him you plan on wearing this bathing suit all summer and next summer. You might even want to throw in that you did look at Walmart or other places but the bathing suits in the price range he suggested were too skimpy, or didn't have your size. He'll probably appreciate if you look or at least say you looked for a fairly modest bathing suit cus he's your Dad.

hey! i recently permed my hair (about 3 weeks ago) and while i was at the salon, the stylist told me that i cant swim in swimming pools because the perm will come out. origionally, this wasnt a problem, but i separated my shoulder and now have to get in the pool (head under also) for physical therapy. is my perm going to come out? (link)
|
The perm should be set for now, so swimming should be okay. However to be on the safe side I'd use a swimmers shampoo that helps minimize damage from chlorine.

my boyfriend (24)and I(20) have lived together for over a year we live with a roomate who happens to be my friend . just recently last friday actually we got in a big fight and he shoved me into the closet door, our roomate heard it all and said something to him and he got in her face screaming and pointing his finger in her face so i ran flailing my fists aqnd i caught him in the nose , i didn't punch him but i did hit him though and his nose started bleeding which i instantly started bawling and trying to clean away the blood , i knew what i did was wrong and felt horrible anyway we both agreed to forgive each other but then this past tuesday i had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out and he was the one with me getting all the post-op insturctions and then after we got home we got into a dumb fight and he said "i can't take getting beaten anymore" and he left me i havn't heard from him since tuesday and now he is at his parents house I don't know what i should do because i am stuck here with all the memories and i am crying everyday I just want him to come home but at the same time i don't know if i should let him come home i need help!!!! (link)
|
I wouldn't let him come home. He let a fight get physical, and now he's blaming you for it. He pushed you first, he provoked you. Cut your losses, because there's a chance he'll do this again, especially if he can't suck it up to help you during your time of need.
Breaking up is hard, but if you stay with him you'll be subjecting yourself to more pain.

Hello. I'm supposed to be going to get my eyebrow pierced soon and a tattoo on my shoulder. I was wondering if anyone on here has their eyebrow pierced, but also has glasses. I have glasses and I'm thinking it'll look horrible if I get my eyebrow pierced. I just thought of this cuz I'm really weird. If anyone has glasses and also has their eyebrow pierced please let me know, cuz I'd like to know if it'd look good or not. If not, I probably won't get it done. My sister has it pierced but she doesn't have glasses. I asked her if it'd look good and she said yeah, but I think shes lying to me. If you need to see what I look like you can go on my myspace to look at my pics. I only have 2 on there of myself, and their not all that great. I'm an ugly person. I don't have a specific link so just search KxIxMxMxY51890@aol.com That's my email address. My myspace should come up, because I think I changed it from being set to private. Anyone should be able to view it now. If you have a problem viewing my pics please let me know. I really appreciate it. Thank you very much to anyone who answers. (link)
|
unless you are 100% sure you want an eyebrow ring, I'd put it off. It's permanent, and getting pierced can be painful. If you do get one and decide you don't like it, there's a chance of scarring.
Maybe try something more discreet first, like an industrial or something, plus that way you're a bit different from your sister.
If you are set on the eyebrown, then if you have the confidence to pull it off, then it will look fine. http://www.bmezine.com has pictures and piercing stories, go check out the eyebrow piercings, I bet a bunch of them have glasses.

can you use hydrogen peroxide that you buy from like walmart, to bleach your hair? will it hurt your hair at all? how do you actually do the process, if you can? (link)
|
bleaching your hair is something you really don't want to do at home. It damages your hair, and chances are it's going to go orange-ish first.
If you really are set on doing it at home though try Loreal's Blondissima, or a similar product. They're right beside the dyes, and READ the instructions. Get some help with it, and make sure you buy a box of blonde to put over it, because bleach strips the colour from your hair, but it's usually not too pretty afterwards.

i have a bump on the right side of my nose and kind of near my right nostril it hurts and if i touch it a little it hurts, very sensitive and my nose is starting to turn red in that area, i didnt hit my nose i think its like an infection or like a pimple under the skin, has anybody else had one and what can i do to make it go away caus its not on the exterior so there is no reason to use a cream? (link)
|
it sounds like a pimple. To bring it up faster (and then pop it, if you're a popper, or put cream on it) get a washcloth, and run it under really, really hot water. Put the cloth on your nose, and hold it there for awhile. It should come to the surface so you can treat it. If not, try it again.

do you get the same workout by using a gazelle for 30 minutes as using a treadmill for 30 minutes? or does one burn more calories then the other? (link)
|
it depends on a lot of things, like your speed, or the incline of the treadmill, etc. However, instead of sticking to one, I'd recommend alternating between the two, to prevent boredom, and tiring out the same old muscles.

My dad is watching porn right now. He does every night because we have lots of channels and at night theres porn. I know for SURE because Ive walked in on him before. And I can see from here. He thinks hes hiding it but hes not. Should I tell my mom my dad watches porn?! what do i do. Ive never told anyone, because its awkward and i dont want my friends to not want to come over my house because they feel weird around my dad. hes a really nice dad/man! I WONT confront him about it, so if you say do that Ill give you a 1..sorry. (link)
|
If you've figured out your dad watches porn, your mom probably knows too. It's probably not something new- some couples even do it together. For some guys it's a perfectly normal thing they do whether or not they are in a relationship. Hey your friends dad's might do it too, but don't worry about talking about it with them, I don't think most people discuss their parents sex lives with their friends.
If your dad is watching porn say 24/7 and it does affect your friends coming over, then I'd speak up. But from the information you've given it just seems like he does it at night, when it's not likely anyone will be around. The only thing you can really do is say really pointedly "Dad I couldn't sleep last night the tv was REALLY loud", or something similar, he should get it.
