why do dogs lick people?
One thing it seems some of the former answers have missed...the reason it is a sign of affection is because the dog thinks they are grooming you. When my border collie starts licking my hand, she'll systematically cover every inch of my arm until I stop her. It's her way of cleaning me and straightening my hair out...not that I'm especially hairy, but whatever.
You may notice two dogs who like each other taking turns grooming each other. To them, you're one of those dogs.

My 1yr old german shepard puppy scratches her hair off and creates scabbed up bald spots, but when we check her, she does not have fleas.
She is an inside dog so she hasnt been exposed too much to the outside unless its to go potty and thats it.
We dont hve the cash to take her to the vet just yet, but i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what it could be.

does anyone know of any over the counter or department store medicines that could help ease her itch and heal her sores??

Our dog had the same problem. Turned out to be allergies. However, ours wasn't scratching herself that bad so if it's allergies, it's severe.
GET some cash, take her to the vet. If they agree, they'll do tests to determine what she is allergic to. That will give you a better idea if it's something in her environment that can be taken away.

Well, I measure my time on a treadmill in calories burned, not minutes. I personally use one as a warm-up before I hit the other machines, and I'll do about 200-250 cals before I move on. This takes all of 30-45 minutes at a slow pace. If I feel frisky enough to do some jogging the time is cut in half.
Start slow and get your body used to it. Try 250 calories a session. Increase calories burned by 10 a day until you've reached a point you feel like you've gotten something accomplished, without over-exerting yourself. A good tip is to time your workouts with your favorite TV show. If I get on the elliptical or treadmill when Monday Night RAW is on, I'll workout for 2 hours straight. There's no way I'd have the attention span to do that without the TV.
Glancing at the wikipedia article I just pulled up, calculating how many calories to burn over a period of time to find weight lost looks like a pain in the ass. There's too many factors. Just limit how much you eat. Eat until you feel full, not necessarily until you're out of food. Use the treadmill to make yourself feel better, not run yourself into the ground.
The big point is, don't focus so hard on the numbers you generate on your treadmill display. If you have a decent diet, don't eat too much, and exercise, you will see a change in weight. I can't say how quickly, but it will happen.

my bf has been really busy lately with work, baseball, and school. I work and go to school too but i still manage to have time to do things. my bf never has time to go out..we been together for 4years, I was just wondering what are things i can do to keep myself entertain while he is out doing things. I only have 1 true friend but she is always with her man.. What can i do?
My woman has this problem too, as I work far too much. She really doesn't have any hobbies, and that's her main issue. Find someone who shares a hobby of yours, and do it together. If there's a certain show you watch, find someone who will watch it with you and you can discuss it with them. If you like to work out, find a work out buddy to go to the gym with you. You can find communities online that share similar interests in your area, whether it be through Craigslist, Myspace, Yahoo groups or whatever.
I recently found an old friend through Myspace and invited him over to the house for a PPV I'm hosting. Social gatherings with no pressure are a great way to catch back up with old acquaintances. If you find you don't have any immediate friends who have the ability to hang out, you may search to reconnect with old friends. It couldn't hurt to try.

i'm selling a few items on Craigslist, the problem is, how exactly do you receive the money? Do you give your address, and they send a check in the mail? I was thinking to do it that way, but I'm not sure if thats what even what you're supposed to do . .
Like the last answer, Craiglist transactions are done in person locally. Don't buy from other cities; transactions like that should be done on eBay or some other medium where there is a second party to ensure the money gets there. Try to get the money in cash or money order. Checks can bounce and it may be impossible to find the person again (or they'll probably just ignore you.)
When I bought something, I went to their house and picked it up, giving them cash. Then again, I bought furniture, so I kind of had to. If what you are selling is small, you can either have them come get it or you can meet somewhere. At your age, I'd suggest not going alone.

Yesterday is when all the drama began(sorry if its really long please answer to it though!!!)..
Me and my bestfriend had planned for our boyfriends from Vernon lets call them, B.(my bf) and K. (bestfriends bf) to come out to see us and hang out with us the whole day. So the day before I cleaned the whole house so it looked nice and I even tidied up the deck and what not. So it would be nice to hang out. And that night my boyfriend b, and my bestfriends bf K and a few of their freinds were on the phone talking to me and they told me they were excited to come and didnt say anything about not showing up. The next day my bestfriend comes over at like 11:30am, and we are sitting around playing guitar hero, she was trying to get ahold of K. To see if they were on their way to the mall where we were gunna meet them for 12:00. She didnt get an answer so she was saying all this stuff about them not going to show up and everything and I told her about talking to them and stuff so I was posative they would show. So me and her phoned K. And the phone was shut off, so then we called B. His phone was busy so we decided to walk to the mall and meet them, we got there at 12:00 exact, and noone was there we stood by the store looking stupid for about 20-25 min. And no-one came, so we called K, and his phone was still off, and then we called B. and his phone was still busy. So me and me and my friend went to the other stores and looked around for a few mins and then walked back and seen no-one was there so we walk all the way home. When we get home it was already 1:14 and we didnt get a call or nothing so we tryed to call them again, still off, and still busy. We did this about 3 more times, and then we decided to walk back up to the mall adn see if they were there, we walked there, and decided to sit there for a while, we sat there for about 35-40 min. In between we would call and see if it wasnt off or still busy, and ocasionally check if they called just incase. then we walk home, and we were all upset, and my friend grabs the phone from me in anger and calls K. he actually answers the tosses the phone to be because she is surpresed. I started talking to him, all he said was that they didnt have a ride back, or their, and they slept in late, and blah blah, I told them that I worked realyl hard for them to be able to come and that convincing my parents to let them come over wasnt easy, and that if they went to sleep at a decent hour they could have woken up, and nothing could have stopped their parents from waking them up, and i asked him about why his phone was off and he said it was dead but then it turned on when we called! RIGHT! and I asked by B homephone was busy and they said his brothers much have not hung it up or his mom was on for 3 hours! and that they didnt say anything about not comming the night they called, and they said they had a ride here and that they would take the bus back, and I told them that my parents would drive them to their house, and it would have been a lot better if they called and said something along the lines of sorry that they couldnt make it but they dont have a ride, or something like that! Then my friend dumped K, because he hung up on me because he didnt know what to say, and then my friend kept asking me if I should dump my bf b, and stuff and then while me and my freind were at the beach she texted her "ex bf K" and asked to get backtogether with him, then we got home and i was on the laptop and my freind was on her her laptop tlaking to them, and my bf B signs on and says "Hey sexy" well that just made me more upset!! No sorry I didnt show up or anything just that, then i said hi, and hes like sup? and im like pissed off and hes like i know i was with K and so and so, and I was like yeah, and hes like why are you pissed off at me? and then i was just about to tell him why and he signed off!! and didnt come back on! Then my friend was talking to b and K's friend J on the computer and supposedly K and B were at his house now, and K was being mouthy and telling us to stop being bitches and stuff, then J was tellhing us to stop being bitchy, then, my freind asked K to get back together wit hher and hes like I got 1 thing to say to you "Its over bitch!" then signs out, and then I was talking to J on the laptop after B and K got off, and J said that B and K said we should stop being such bitches about it and to stop acting like bitches. And I explained why i was so upset and mad to him, but he didnt even listen! he stuck up for them!! So then my friend is asking J if Im still dating B, and if B still likes me and stuff.. Now I havent talked to them since then and I dont know what to do! I like B so so so much, and I dont know if I should dump him or not, my mom, dad, and bestfriend think I should dump him because I deserve better then that, and that i need to be treated right and that if I let this time slide he will just do it again and again(Is this ture? or what? I have told him he is free to go i am not holding him back and i have tried to leave before and he apologizes to me tells me not to go that he loves me and that if it wasnt for me he would be lost and that i am his gold and i have told him that if i was that precious he would not treat me the way he does. I have also told him that instead of treating me like sh**t for him just to be a man and tell me he does not want me around anymore and he always tells me if he wanted to leave me he would have done so a long time ago and he would not have married me. so what do think should i leave him now or should i wait until our next argument?
I'm assuming another argument has been had since then, or is at least close to happening. If not, he's just recessing his behaviors until he feels safe again to treat you like shit. True, I have a pessimistic point of view, but judging by the history of this relationship, I think I'm likely correct.
I still stand by my earlier decision and try a separation. Stay away and break contact. Don't even check on him through friends; that will get to him and he'll know you're still watching. If he finds himself completely isolated from you, and realizes that you are serious, that's when his true colors will show.

My husband gives me attitude just about everyday, when i call him on the phone he answers the phone "WHAT" and this is the only call of the day, instead of hi how is your day going, but then i notice when we are together and he answers the call of a friend or a relative he answers in the most loving manner. When i ask questions just to start a converstion he answers me with attitude and is short with his answers as if me being around him bothers him. Then he also answers me like if i am stupid for asking certain questions. When i attempt to talk to him about it all he says is "i dont want to hear it" and if you keep it on your going to have hell to pay and what he means by hell is ignoring me and giving me more attitude. It sounds to me as if he is no longer interested in continuing this relationship. The reason I say this is because in the past, I did the same things to my girlfriend and she quickly became an ex. I wanted to end the relationship and, pardon the vernacular, didn't have the balls to end it outright. So, I basically treated her like shit, ignored her pleas, and was a complete asshole until she ended it for me. It was a cowardly, stupid way to go about it, and I don't recommend it.
The quick answer is, he doesn't understand what he has, and he won't until he doesn't have it. Before you go with an outright divorce, try a separation. If you don't feel comfortable seeing other men while separated, you don't have to. He, more than likely, will take the opportunity to see other women. If he's anything like I was, he really wants out of the relationship to try being single again. I left high school with a girlfriend and never felt like I'd gotten a fair chance to live alone and be single. I realize now it's not all it's cracked up to be, but it took that wake-up call for me to realize it.
Best case scenario, he'll realize what a dick he's been, that he's ruining the best relationship he's ever had, and he'll come back to you full of apologies and the wish to get back together. If he's sincere, take him back. If he just struck out with the ladies and is falling back on you as a last resort, punch him and move on. You're wasting your time.
Worst case scenario, he'll hit the clubs every night and leave with a different slut every time, and never look back. This could be positive however, as you could see him for what he really is, and you could comfortably move on knowing he was not the one.
If you truly want the man you love to reemerge from this current incarnation, you have to let him go for now. Hanging on and hoping he'll get better will only make it worse. With any luck, he'll do what I did, realize what he's missing, and come back to be a loyal, loving man. If not, you'll know you made the right decision, and you can move on.

I know A.M. means in the morning and P.M. means in the evening after noon, but what do the abbreviations actually stand for? I've always thought of it was "At Morning" and "Past Morning" but I know that's just a silly childhood thing to help me remember which was which. Anybody know?

i don't mean to laugh or smile when someone dies at all. it's sad, and i mean no happiness towards it. i just can't help but to laugh or smile, even if it's sad.
today, when i heard michael jackson died, it was really sad, and i felt bad, but ... i laughed ... and i have *no* idea why i react like this. i'm not heartless, but i'm just hoping it's a normal emotion / reaction, while others cry or get upset ... i just smile unintentionally. i don't think i'd last at a funeral.. i have no idea why i react like this.
Laughing and smiling is your way to keep from frowning or crying. Everyone has a different way of coping with things they don't want to deal with. I tend to turn even the most traumatic of events into a joke. It's not because I'm an asshole (or is it?) but because that's my way of dealing with it.
If it were someone close to you, rather than a celebrity, it may seem a bit cold to others. But you can't help it. Let out your feelings. It's better to laugh at the wrong time, rather than bottle it up and explode all at once.

First of all, most people will not buy from someone who has a 0 feedback rating. If your account has had no activity, you can get feedback by buying a couple things with successful transactions. Alternatively, sell through a friend's account who has built some feedback up. Think of it as credit, the difference between making an expensive purchase from the shady guy on the corner who disappears afterwards, or the retailer down the street who can refund the money if needed.
Anyway, when I sell something, I take pictures of it, and give a detailed description of what it is, what condition it is in, how it works, etc. I typically sell video games, so I state how consistently it works, what system it's for, and exactly what game they'd be receiving. People want to believe you know exactly what you're talking about, and that what you put down is exactly what they'll receive.
Explicitly state how shipping will work and how much it will cost. Small items, like the games I sell, are shipped most easily by USPS. Priority Mail has a flat shipping rate for different size boxes. You can ask at the post office about that. Larger packages can be shipped through Fedex, or UPS. You need to pack it into a box yourself, using plenty of packing material to make sure it rides right. All you gotta do is take that box up there, fill out some paperwork, and they'll weigh it. They'll price it based on size and weight.
It's tough to gauge how much it will cost without packing it and weighing it first, so it's really tough to start selling on Ebay without any experience. That's why so many places have made a business out of selling people's stuff for them on Ebay. My advice is to find someone you know who has experience selling, and learn it first hand. It's hard to start selling, but once you figure it out it's smooth sailing.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. The bleach you use to lighten your hair and the bleach you use to wash clothes are two totally different things! Using Clorox will burn your scalp and probably make your hair fall out. If you shut the door in the bathroom and make it into an enclosed space, you may very well pass out from the fumes as well.
Go to the beauty store, buy some actual hair bleach, and use that. Even that, if used incorrectly, can leave marks on the skin of your hands. Wear gloves and follow the directions exactly. It's best if you have someone who has done it before help you out.

Well, yes, but if you are looking to burn calories with a daily workout, you can for sure find something more effective than a trampoline. It's low-impact and fun, but if you are looking to get serious, running or walking would do more for you. I get on the treadmill or cross trainer and watch my favorite shows. I'm gonna be staying in one place to watch them anyway; I might as well be doing something productive at the same time.
The trampoline will help your quads, but probably won't do a whole lot to lose weight.

Now, I am close with both "groups", but I am definitely closer to Jessica and Danielle. Today, while I was hanging out with Rachel and Sarah, they said a few things about Jessica and Danielle. Later that night, Jessica called me and I told her a few things that they said. I did not exaggerate anything at all, but Sarah called me upset that I told them and that she expected that I wasn't going to say anything. There's nothing I can do because obviously I can't take anything back (like I wish I could). How do I make this right? I already sent a message to Rachel because I haven't talked to her easily (she's asleep). I said my apologies (I am sincere about them) but I know they will hold a grudge over me and I know I lost their trust. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
It's not your job to play peacemaker. I had two of my good friends in a bad situation where one had wronged the other. Rather than being the middleman and doing the communication for them, it's best to just stay out of it all. I invited both of them to all events and showed them I was not going to pick and choose who I invite. If they had a problem with that, they could figure it out amongst themselves. My point is, drama is drama, and it tends to work itself out. Don't play favorites, show you're not going to be rocked by it, and just ride it through. If they are your friends, they're reconcile.

I'm looking for an anternative solution to cutting myself... I'm 14, and I've recently been caught in the act of cutting. My parents have decided to take me to a psychologist, and I'm really not looking forward to it... It's hard enough to talk to them. The problem is, everyone is asking if I'm okay, and what's wrong, but I don't know the answer to that. I don't know what's wrong exactly. It's a lot of stuff, I guess. I know it's wrong to cut myself, and honestly, it's just plain stupid. Nobody wins with it. I've tried to keep all this hidden from my friends. I don't want them to worry, or judge. There's one friend who I've told, but I don't want to keep pushing all this on them. It's really none of their concern. They've helped me by talking about it, but I can tell they feel awkward about it. So I'd like to get some advice on what I can do to express how I feel without hurting anyone; myself included. (The psychologist didn't suggest squat)

If cutting is your escape from reality, the trick is to substitute it for something less self-destructive. Personally, hitting the gym is a great way for me to relieve stress. Working myself stupid gives my body a release and the ability to relax afterwards, and being alone gives me time to think.
Just try to find another vice. It'd be hard to find something more destructive.

Yes, it is extremely dangerous. Crushed up pills, dissolved in liquid, work faster and more potently than when taken normally. He could have an allergic reaction, an accidental overdose, any number of things that aren't worth the risk. Is your dad's health worth a night's fling?
Just sneak out like every other teenager does. The punishment is easier to deal with than guilt.
