my name's rebecca. i doubt you're even mildly interested in the irrelevant aspects of my life, so i'll get to the point. i'm not a professional psychologist nor do i pretend to be, yet i'll try to give you advice based on the common sense that, unlike many others on here, i own ;]

advice

yesterday i fell nd i got cut pretty bad and in a few hours, im going swimming and if i get in the water, will the chemicals in the pool burn my scar?

If you put Neosporin on it, it will clean out the bacteria and the chemicals and bacteria won't bother you. A bandaid won't hurt either.

If you happen to be swimming with sharks, I definitely don't reccommend it ;D

I love music.
But, i want some good christian bands, or songs. So, does anyone know any?

what songs relate to your life or others? i have this project and i have to pick a song.. it has to be something i can find at like walmart or easily download from the computer.. because my project is due tomorrow! i have no idea what to choose.. i mean i am only 13 and i havent experienced alot of the hard stuff that goes on in some songs, like break-ups, having a boyfriend, divorce, etc things like that. not saying my life is all easy.. i have a bad short term memory, i get bad and good grades, my room is messy half the time, my parents are kinda strict since they are from africa and things are diff there than in america, uh.. my fave color is green, im a preppy tomboy, and i like the sun and beach, etc. but i dont go to the beach all the time.. in my entire life i've only been there 3 times. so basically what song relates to your life or maybe mine that i can use? i like hiphop, R&B, umm.. i guess some pop, and some softrock.. i dont like like hard rock, techno, emo, or whateverz. THANKS FOR HELPING! its hella hard to think of songs!!

Ooh, we had that same project in gym also. I picked 'Bad Days' by Something Corporate. I think it's about how even when you're having a bad day, you still have your friends and family to help you through it. At least I /think/ that's what it's about. I got an A anyway :)

OKay is there anyway to be a preppy scene kid? I so love the scene style and everything. But i also love preppy clothes. I already own tons of Lacoste and Burberry and such. And i dont wanna get rid of them. So I need some help. Thanks and im sorry if this question is so confusing. Oh and if you can help me find some websites with some good scene clothes, that would be most helpful. Cost is no problem.

Scene and prep are pretty much very different styles, but who says you have to fit into a label? You don't have to be preppy, or scene, or moderately-preppy-moderately-scene. Just be Cody ;D. Wear whatever fits your style.

What does it mean if your throw up after running a mile or more? Is it something bad or is that normal under some circumstances?

When I have to run a mile in gym, I always feel really nauseous afterwards. I've never thrown up, but you're not the only one who feels like that. You're probably not used to running so long or so fast, and you might not be pacing yourself well. It could also be the heat or lack of water.

I'm heavier than most girls[size 16, 5'5] but everyone INSISTS that I'm not fat[whatevs]. Anyway, this Friday, there's a costume picnic for my drama club. The theme is Peter Pan. I have NO CLUE what to be. I don't want to look like an idiot, but I don't have any idea of what to dress as.
Besides being heavyish I have medium brown hair, green/gray/blue eyes, fair skin, and good curves.
I want a semi-easy-to-make costume, because it IS finals week, and I need to focus, but I'm a good seamstress, and I CAN do a LITTLE sewing this week. The actual making needs to be less than 1 hour though. I have a huge amount of fabric, but not a whole lot of any one print and type.

Well, the two easiest costumes would be Tinkerbell and Wendy.

Wendy-- Long, light blue dress with a empire-waist belt around it. If you want to make it a little less conservative, shorten the dress. Put a blue ribbon in your hair-- it'd look good with your medium brown hair.

Tinkerbell-- Medium to short legnth light green dress, with the bottom cut into the triangular pattern. If you want, you could put on a wig or dye your hair yellow, but it should be in a loose bun. You could make little fairy wings; not like the 6-year-old costume, but cutesy. If you want, you could also make a little wand.

If you and your girlfriend want to get an abortion, don't listen to pro-lifers. It's your choice, your baby. However, if your girlfriend doesn't want to get one, respect her decision. Like Tina said, who cares if they're slightly baggy? If you saw someone in slightly baggy jeans, would you shun them for life and whisper about their terribe fashion no-no?? Of course not. Just waer what you think is comfortable :)

15/f. i'm so overwhelmed by everything right now and i just need help. i used to be so honest and always tell the truth, but now for some reason i find myself lying all the time, especially to my parents. whenever my parents are away my sister always has parties, and i always have to lie to protect her.

but i'm so over lying. it gets me upset to have to lie. i just want to be able to come home at night to my house, without a bunch of people here. then they all get drunk and sleep here.

what do i do? i don't want to betray my sister, but i hate lying. i've lied before to protect her, but i don't want to have to lie anymore.

I agree with the person below me. It's really great that you have a tight bond with your sister to protect her like that, but she should see what an awkward situation she's putting you in. It shouldn't be your responsibility to deal with all the people and the lying and the guilt. Next time your sister plans a party, tell her straight out that you're going to tell your parents. If she doesn't have the party or throws a party somewhere else, then thats good. If she has the party anyway; well, you warned her. You shouldn't have to take your sister's consequences. okay im 14 and im about 5' 2'' and 97 lbs. these guys at school keep calling me anorexic and i want to take it as a compliment but its getting annoying because they always shove food at my table at lunch. i usually dont eat at lunch because im not hungry. (we have lunch early and i eat breakfast) what can i do to make them stop?

First of all, I wouldn't take it as a compliment. It's fine to be skinny, but if you're so skinny that it looks forced, then you're too skiny. You can't really make them stop unless you have a serious discussion with it about them, which from the circumstances, you probably don't want to do, and they probably wouldnt listen even if you did do it. Why don't you have a lighter breakfast so you can eat during lunch? Or just have a granola bar or something. Good luck :)

okay i know this is an easy question, but i will still rate!!

I really like the second one (blue one). Theyre both really pretty, but the first ones a little bit more cute, if that made sense. When you get older, the first might seem a little bit less sophisticated than what you'd want your bedroom to be at that age.

here are some things that i do on a regular basis:
you tell me if they sound a little OCD-ish.

1. i have to check that i logged off the computer at least 8 times (literally) like i go downstairs. and then think OMG DID I LOG OFF? or like we'll be going out to dinner and ill make us go all the way back just to make sure i log off. and i always do to.

2. at school i have to go and check that my locker is closed. during the day i have to ask my teachers to go to the bathroom, so i can run and check if its closed, same with PE lockers.

It does sound a little obsessive, but not enough to be OCD. Everybody has little quirks.

The next time you log off, or close your locker, double check to make POSITIVE that you're logged off. Or that your locker is closed. That way if you ever feel that you need to recheck just to make sure, you can tell yourself that you already checked, and it's definitely logged off/closed. Hope it works out ^^.

ok im getting my hair chemially straightened. does it really work? is it bad for your hair? what are the pros and cons?

My friend got her hair Japanese straightened. It looks really good, but it's so incredibly expensive. It cost her about $800 to do it the first time, and now, everytime another 2 inches or so of hair grows back, she has to pay like $300 every other month to touch up the new hair, because it grows in curly. I'm not sure about the physical effects of it on your hair, but I do know it's going to cost you thousands of dollars.

ok this girl just asked my boyfriend to go to a water park with her and some other people. she knows that we've been going out all year, and i know her a little bit, but she didnt invite me. at first i thought she was just inviting him cuz shes friends with him, but my mom said that her inviting him like that, without me, means she likes him. do you think thats true? i would never invite someone else's boyfriend to do something like that, so its kind of weird to me. should i be worried?

No, I don't think she likes him. Just because you're going out doesn't mean shes obliged to invite you places. If she's friends with him, why should you have to come? You and your boyfriend don't have to do everything together, you're allowed to have your own friends. So don't take it the wrong way :)

Simple-- don't let her boss you around. You're 18, you're an adult. She's just a kid. It's hard to say "no" sometimes, but you can't let yourself be taken advantage of. When she tries to boss you around, just think of how nice it would be to say "no". She can't force you to do anything.

As for not speaking to you again, I think it's an empty threat. She's your cousin, she's not going to break off all ties with you because you refuse to let her boss you around. And if she does, she's obviously not a good friend or cousin and is just trying to use you.

Be strong, stand up for yourself ;D

I know this sounds quite weird haha but.. when i go to the bathroom, basically at school where there are like 2 stalls, i like can't pee if there is someone else in the bathroom. like i CAN pee if im going to like explode, but i just cant pee. i dont know why its like i am ashamed of it. its a mental thing and i dont know. whatss up with this it annoys me so much because sometimes i really have to pee.

Hehe yes, I have the same problem. Like people said, try making some sort of noisy distraction before you go. Like put on the hand-blowdryer-thing and then go into the stall. It really makes it less awkward :)

My boyfriend and I just bought a new home and we had a housewarming party over the weekend. We had a friend named john and a niehgbor we never met before hanging out touching, groping, problem is they are both married. His wife was at home with the kids, and he went to the neighbors house and slept with her. My boyfriend and I were stunned. He has been married for 10 years and his wife is sweet and pretty, neighbor girl 25, he is 38 and she is UGHHH! What do I do if I am talking to his wife in the future?? He is a dog and I am digusted. To tell or not to tell?? By the way he was pretty sober and never mentioned anything about marriage problems in the past. My man and he just went to vegas a few weeks ago and my man said he was well behaved.. what gives?? are men this disgusting after all?

It's a really tough situation. You don't want to get involved, but you don't want to just sit back and watch this happen.

Just think, how would you feel if you were the wife, and you found out a neighbor knew the whole time but never said anything? Think about that before you decide to do something. Hope it works out well =/
