Does anyone know of any good bands/song I can put on my iPOD? I'm getting tired of all the bands I have. I'm mostly into indie/rock/acoustic/some ska/oldies.
I like Death Cab, The Postal Service, The Audition, The Higher, Panic!, Further Seems Forever, Dashboard Confessional, Hidden in Plain View, Taking Back Sunday etc. Preferably bands that you know and that aren't on the radio.
i reccomend this unsigned rock band from the UK called "Forbidden Lust".
theyre not your usual band you see or hear everyday. for starters, they have a female frontman, who (for once,)doesnt sing like a pathetic Lindsay Lohan "rock-chick-wannabe" lol.
their music is well structured, and carefully and thoughtfully peiced together.
they definitley vary in the rock category, as some of their songs can be really rocky and fairly heavy (especially live!), and they have other songs which are slower, more ballady and well...more mellow.
however - if you're looking for a tune or 2 to rock out to- they have the exact song you need called "what tyou're throwing away"!! this song can be found on both their website and their myspace!...its veeeery catchy!
FALL FOR A HEARTBREAKERR is another good one they have, and so is their more slower, mellower song "need you around".
they also have a song called "anything" which has a deeper meaning of love...but that has yet to be posted on their site and myspace :(
i think you'll like this band...theyve had good write-ups in papers and have been told they have potential!
i'd check em out...they're prety cool!
www.myspace.com/forbiddenlust
www.forbiddenlust.co.uk
they have a selection of songs on both their website and myspace, varying the "rockiness" - you'll know what i mean when you listen to it.
its good stuff!

Orpheus answered Tuesday June 27 2006, 10:55 pm: I have recently been very impressed by Dream Theater (rock/metal/fantastic music). If you're into ska, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have a very unique ska-core sound and also touch many other genres in their albums. Other ska favorites are Reel Big Fish, The Forces of Evil, Less Than Jake, The Toasters, The Aquabats and Voodoo Glow Skulls. Also, I recently stumbled upon a band by name of "Dragonforce" on MySapce. Also very impressive. [ Orpheus's advice column | Ask Orpheus A Question ]

use it, its awesome. Go ahead and tpye in all those bands and even songs that you like the most. Give it some time, and actually rate the songs - whether you like them or not. After about 30 or 40 songs, it will narrow down to new stuff that you would like and hanv't heard before. I havn't read any answers before this, so if somebody already wrote that site, sorry - they definately stole it from me. Haha just kidding. Hoped that helped [ HectorJr's advice column | Ask HectorJr A Question ]

LoveToLaugh37 answered Tuesday June 27 2006, 11:50 am: I'm in love with the band O.A.R. <-- they actually do have a song on the radio (Love and Memories.) But there stuff is absolutely posotively awsome. Try litening to the song "That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker." and listen to "Delicate Few" and "Mr.Brown." <--those are my favorites. There songs are usually like 8 minutes long and have two parts to them so don't be like what the heck if the music starts to change halfway through.
***Another band that I like is The Low Life. They are awwsoommmeee!! Listen to the songs-- Fiona, Bag of Money, You are everything. Those are my favorite ones.
Another really good song is "The General" By Dispatch, you probably know that song, though. [ LoveToLaugh37's advice column | Ask LoveToLaugh37 A Question ]

tasuki answered Tuesday June 27 2006, 11:00 am: The Rasmus is good. Also, I tend to like a lot of foreign music, mostly Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. It's fun to try new types of music, too. Go to the music section of Barnes and Noble, and grab a random CD. You never know what you may find ;-)

EDIT-I suddenly realized that you're not looking to buy CDs, so you know, you could just listen to one with those sample headphones, and write down the title of any that you find. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
