What is music without harmony? Verily it is not music. Life without goodwill and fraternity - what is it? Indeed it is not life. He has not truly lived who has not lived for others, in sympathy and in harmony with his fellows.

i recently put on 10 pounds and it went mostly to my but and my boobs. I want to work out my stomach butt i dont want to lose the weight on my butt and my boobs. how can i do this? (link)
|
There is no way to spot-trim your body. If you start losing body fat, your body decides which deposits of subcutaneous fat will be used first. If you want to get rid of fat around your abdominal region, you must do so at the risk of losing the fat in your breasts and butt.

Do you think high school students should have to do community service to graduate and why? (link)
|
No, I don't think community service should be a graduation requirement for high school students. While this isn't true of all high school students, some are active in everything from sports to music to student government (and have jobs), and expecting them to have time for community service just wouldn't work.

even good fats (peanuts, beans, avacado, etc.) can make you fat if you're inactive right? (link)
|
Yes, "good" fats still have the same caloric value as "bad" fats and an imbalance between the amount of calories you take in vs the amount you use through physical activity can cause you to store more fat. Keep in mind, though, that this is also true of carbohydrates, protein, and alcohol.
Basically, "good" vs "bad" means nothing when it comes to caloric content and potential to make you fat. The good/bad has to do with the saturation/hydrogenation of the fat and how it acts in your body.

how well do ab lounges work? (link)
|
The Ab Lounge is just another piece of bogus equipment for which more money was spent in advertising than in development. If you want a good abdominal workout, sit-ups and crunches are still the way to go. You can find some abdominal exercise recommendations here: http://exrx.net/Lists/ExList/WaistWt.html#anchor172895 and here: http://exrx.net/Lists/ExList/WaistWt.html#anchor1944764
Honestly, any piece of exercise equipment with the word "Lounge" in the title wasn't thought out very well.

Ok male 17 and i am tring really hard to stop masterbating so often but i cant seem to do it any tips? thanks (link)
|
If you really think you do it too much, just try to keep busy. Find something you enjoy doing and go do it. If you keep yourself busy all day, by the end of the day you'll realize that you didn't even think about doing it.
Basically, just keep yourself occupied.

Say your spouse dies and goes to "Heaven". You learn to cope and marry again. Then you and your new spouse somehow die (whomever first, it doesn't matter), but you both go to "Heaven". Now you're there with two martial partners. How is your time divided? Or how does that work? Can you love them both? Can you "be with" them both? Will they know of each other's existence?
There obviously isn't a right or wrong answer, so all opinions welcome and appreciated. (link)
|
Keep in mind that, in most marriage ceremonies, the words "'Til death do us part" are used. I interpret this as meaning there are no marital relationships in heaven, and that marriage is strictly an Earthly concept.

Using a normal USB cable won't work. Here is a link to a USB transfer cable that will work the way you want it to. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/8199/

I met this 24 year old guy at the dog park. We totally hit it off, and we talked for two and a half hours. After that, I added him on MySpace, and then he randomly messaged me one day like amonth later, asking how I was, how I've been, and telling me he'll have more free time in the next few weeks (he owns his own business and works a LOT) So, I messaged him back, blah blah blah, we made plans, hung out again, etc. During that meeting/date thing, he persuaded me to start a doggie daycare business. Now I've been talking to him about that lately, and he's helping me through this whole starting a business thing. He's sort of my business advisor. Anyway.
I like him so much. It's one of those awesome romantic type crushes, as opposed to one of the sexual ones. But, as it is to be expected, he's SO much more mature than any other guy I've liked. So I don't really know how to approach the subject (with guys my age and younger, you just sort of bug them and tease them) without ruining what we have. Since he messaged me that time, totally out of the blue, do you suppose I have a chance? Do (normal, not just looking for sex) 24 year olds ever even consider dating 18 year olds? What should I do?! (link)
|
I think you probably have a chance with him, but try not to get your hopes too high. It's certainly possible that he's interested, but keep in mind that his difference in age means a likely difference in priorities. Anyway, yes I think you have a chance, and I think the age difference isn't a big issue at this point because you're 18. Also, the fact that you are starting your own business is likely to make you stand out from others your age, and it's also something that the two of you have in common. As for what you should do, I wish could help you. I would hope that a 24-year-old man who owns his own business would be assertive enough to ask you out, but you never know. I suppose my advice is to do what you can to put yourself out there without being too obvious - message him on myspace, ask how he's doing, possibly suggest hanging out sometime.
Best of luck!

for my birthday i got a pink iPod nano. so i didn't have iTunes set up yet, and my sister loaded music from her account onto my iPod. now i have iTunes set up, and i don't know how to get the music on my iPod into my iTunes music library. help please! (link)
|
You can't put songs from an iPod into iTunes. If you want your sister's music to be on your computer, you have to find another way to transfer the files. If the two of you are using PCs and are on the same network, myTunes Redux (freeware program) will let you download music from her computer to yours. If that won't work, you may have to resort to burning all of her music to discs and copying them onto your computer.

I have to write an essay comparing two things, and I cannot think of anything to compare that isn't too general. If anyone can give me original ideas, that would be helpful.=) (link)
|
This a bit nerdy, but I wrote a good paper years ago on the differences between Batman and Superman. If you know anything about the characters, you could pound out and essay with relative ease.

Does it help if you run in place like instead of running on a track u run in place for 30 minutes does that work?
(link)
|
hopeless_n_indiana is right - running in place is not nearly as effective as actual running. Running in place only forces one's legs to move up and down in a running motion, while running forces one's body to do the work necessary to propel oneself forward. Running is a more effective means of cardiovascular exercise and will result in higher caloric expenditure and more muscular activity.

I personally like Rock, acoustic, pop and stuffs. If you guys could list some artists or some songs you guys really like that would be very much appreciated. (link)
|
If you're looking for something different from the music to which you've grown accustomed, try looking into the ska genre. Artists I enjoy include The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, The Toasters, and The Aquabats. Visit www.turnuptheska.com for a 24-hour streaming ska station. Also, try www.pandora.com to create your own virtual radio station that can help you find artists similar to those you already enjoy.

Let me first describe this one girl to you--
-her names hayley.
-shes the popularest one in school
-people worship her. [she even has people who go out to her locker for her & get her things!]
-shes really confident
-but shes also really mean. .. if she doesnt like you.
-shes really rich. she has a ton of REAL louis, chanels, coachs juicys & all that.
-her dog evne wears like these juicy jackets & stuff.
She had this big party, & you had to be on her A-list to get invited. I wasn't I was like on her B-list or something. & she posted it everywhere in school, & everything. Anyways, shes been REALLY nice to me lately, & i want to be better friends with her. Her one friend just moved away, & that means theres a spot open. & i want to make that spot for me. how do i do it?
don't tell me, to be myself or anything.. because, that obviously hasn't been working out too well.
kthanks (link)

Why would you want to be friends with someone who is so shallow and treats people badly? This girl sounds like a spoiled brat who has never had to work for anything and values material posessions and social status over people. My advice is to stay away from her.

do they sell ipod videos in different colors like pink, green, and blue? can you buy them on ebay? (link)
|
The iPod video is only available in black and white. However, you can get a great case from iskin.com in those colors. I have an iSkin case for my iPod video and will never need to buy another case again.

So, next week i'm going to a Reel Big Fish concert with the guy I like. I'm just now getting into ska music, and I want to fit in with this guy and his friends. What clothes do I wear that won't make me look like an idiot? Because even though now I'm listening to this music that I'm starting to love, I have no idea what the "look" is supposed to be. Basically I want to look like I have a clue what's going on.
Thanks,
Sweets (link)

I have loved ska for many years and will also be attending a Reel Big Fish concert in the near future (11/17 in Champaign-Urbana, IL) One of the great things about ska is that there is no real "scene" associated with it, unlike other genres like emo and punk. There is some symbolism in the checkered pattern, mostly a reference to "two-tone" ska, which promotes racial tolerance and harmony. For the most part, there is no one way to dress for a ska show. Just dress comfortably, and be prepared to be hot from skanking/dancing around or being around people who are. Have fun!

Isn't annoying when people type in run-on sentences and don't punctuate? It makes the question/statement difficult to understand and read. I can understand when people sometimes misspell words; but I hate when people don't even attempt at making themselves seem somewhat intelligent. It is bothersome when people type a response or question like its a text message. No, I'm not an English teacher if you're wondering. I am a sixteen year old female that is in high school. (link)
|
Incorrect grammar is rampant on this site and can certainly be annoying, but I don't think it's worth worrying about. I admit that I am less likely to answer a question if it is poorly worded or full of intentional misspellings (i.e. "noe" instead of "know" or "rite" instead of "right"), but I do what I can to keep in mind that I am no better than those individuals who write such questions.
Also, not to be rude, but your question and statements lack grammatical perfection (as do my own), so do try to be tolerant of those who do not share your command of the English language.

Every week a section in my band class has a test on a piece of music. You have to play in front of everybody and I get really nervous. It's also a competition between you and your section, which makes me even more anxious. Sometimes, right before I play, I almost feel like I have to throw up. I'm really good at the music, but my nerves make me have a poor performance. What are some tips that can help me calm my nerves right before I play so I can relax and play well? (link)
|
In my experience with music, the only way to get over those performance jitters is to force yourself to play in front of people as much as possible. You might try getting a few people from different sections together after school to play for and critique each other.

I think that I am bipolar. I'll be happy and obnoxious one moment and then the next I'll feel so depressed that i want to die. How do you know if you're bipolar? What do I do if i am? How do I tell my parents? (link)
|
From what I know about bipolar disorder(s), depressive and manic episodes last for months at a time, not moments. It is likely that you are experiencing mood swings for some reason, but bipolar disorder probably isn't it.

This isn't exactly a "help me" kind of question, but, it is a valed question. I was just wondering, if anyone decides to answer me..."What is happening here?" I have been going through the questions and I am lucky if I see every 4th question have one answer! It used to be every question had at least 5 or 6 answers. Anything happening I should know about? Isn't anyone here anymore? Well, thank you for those of you who do answer. (link)
|
I agree with lauraxomichelle in that many questions on the site don't appear to be worth answering. I try to focus on questions in areas in which I am knowledegable and on questions that I feel need to be answered. I am sure many people on the site grow tired of commonly asked questions, especially those involving teenage relationships. Questions like "OMG!!! does this boy like me?!" become quite annoying after a while. And yes, as many others have said, the start of the academic year is probably a large factor not only in the lower number of answers per question, but in the overall lower number of questions being asked.

well I jump on my trampoline while listening to music on my ipod, and a few times my ipod falls out of my pocket and right now whenever I listen to music, sometimes it pauses with out even pushing pause! Its really weird! I'm wondering if something happend to it and should I get it repaired? (link)
|
Your iPod will automatically pause if the headphone jack is disconnected. Your iPod may have an issue with a loose jack connection.
