usb cord

i just bought a usb cord that has two sides with like a usb so i can connect it to my laptop and to my dad's computer so i can transfer my files to my dad's computer.. and i plugged both sides in and nothing happened.. i wanted to put my music on my dads computer but nothing would happen.. what do i do?

I've tried that before, moving my moms pics and music to mine, and i tried a usb, but i couldn't get it to work either! keep asking, maybe go to a best buy or radio shack and ask someone, but no matter what i tried, it wouldn't work. In the end what i did, and what i suggest for you is to either buy a flash drive(yes it's small so you have to do many transfers) or an external harddrive, those are more expensive but they are easy to use and are also great for backing up your computer, goodluck
