Does it help if you run in place like instead of running on a track u run in place for 30 minutes does that work?

yes it does and it works just as good.Sometimes you accully run more because you have it in your head that your not running far.

hopeless_n_indiana is right - running in place is not nearly as effective as actual running. Running in place only forces one's legs to move up and down in a running motion, while running forces one's body to do the work necessary to propel oneself forward. Running is a more effective means of cardiovascular exercise and will result in higher caloric expenditure and more muscular activity.

well, technically running in place is still considered exercise but i highly doubt it is comparable to actually running. When you run, you develope fast and slow twitch muscles in your legs, you develope leg turnover and improve your VO2 max, running in place would NOT do that. However, if you just want to exercise, running in place would be comparable to doing jumping jacks
