My boyfriend is 29, we've been dating two years and we're getting married in three months. He has a nine year old daughter in another state. She doesn't know about me. He only visits her once or twice a year because she lives really far away, but he tries to call a lot and always sends money to her mom. I'm just scared because I've read articles about how a lot of kids have a harder time dealing with a parent getting remarried than they do dealing with their parents getting divorced in the first place! What's the right thing to do? I don't want to make her accept me as this new "mom" if she doesn't have to, but I also want to be honest, and I feel like I should get to know her if we're family now. The most important thing is that she's not emotionally traumatized... how can we do that?

Q: My aunt is the biggest sister of 3 siblings. I went by her for a month and now we're deciding to go by her to live. Not by her house, but get our owwn house in time.
She said she'd help but recently we've only been talking on the internet and she barely calls.....if she calls at all!!!
I really miss her calls and I wonder if she still wants us there. She completely never (ok maybe sometimes) talks about us moving there and I wish she would because how else would I know if she wants us or not.

Q: How do I get over being as self concious as I am? It's like I refuse to sign up for all the homecoming events or dance at the pep rallies. I'm really not a shy person, just a little unsure of myself. I constantly tell myself to stop caring, but at times I feel like I look majorly stupid. Q: I broke up with my bf of nearly 4 years about 3 months ago. He was emotionally and mentally abusive to me. I had been in councelling for a while and I thought I had nearly got over him. Well yesterday I decided to sign up for a dating site. I actually received about 4 responses to my profile. Instead of contacting these guys that wrote me; I got freaked out and deleted my profile. Does anyone know what is wrong with me?

Q: I think my boyfriend and one of my best friends may have feelings for each other. They've always been friendly with each other, but lately it's more than that. They're always really playful - joking/laughing together, and they've been quite touchy feely of late, too. The other day I watched them when they thought I wasn't looking, and she said something to him and he started laughing like it was the funniest thing ever and he kinda slapped/punched her on the shoulder. Then he pulled her woolen hat down over the back of her head for her....the whole time I watched she was fiddling/playing with his jacket, and she even touched his face a couple times.....

Q: hi, i just took a really long shoping trip at the mall for back to school shopping with my parents. when we went i needed to buy shirts and pants and whatever i looked at my mom kept saying thats too tight or its going to get too small. she told me to get everything one size bigger. i came home and went to the bath room and burst into tears. i gained a little bitt of weight this summer and everyone has been noticing. its not even like im fat... im like s\'6 and weigh 120ish my doctor told me im average, but now i feel fat. my aunt and my cousins keep mentioning things like hmmm you should be carefull what you eat or sweety your not any skinnnier than me. and my moms friends are also telling me.. at a party 1 of them even told me i looked fat

Q: I am about to leave a relationship that isn't broken, and I'm petrified. I have been dating a wonderful, wonderful man for just over a year. We fell in love very quickly and very soon it was understood that we would marry someday. He's 34 and I'm 26.
The problem is that I have it much more together than he does. I am on the career track, and I am universally acknowledged to have lots of "earning potential"-- I am going to work hard and earn money. He is the antithesis of this; he's not against work, per se, but he's not corporate. He wants to ocean kayak and rock climb and ski and lead tours to Latin America. We joked early on that he would be the house-husband and I would earn all the money.

He also has a very significant amount of debt-- twenty thousand dollars. When his previous relationship of 5.5 years broke up (VERY acrimoniously), his girlfriend shoveled her credit card debt onto him, arguing that she had supported him and he deserved to assume debt she had undertaken. Despite the fact that he had no idea she was getting herself into debt, he accepted the debt load, because it seemed the honorable way to end things and to get her out of his hair. Now, of course, he has no chance of paying it back and might go bankrupt.

I love him. Everyone loves him, but more than one of my family members has come to me to express doubts about him. At first I shrugged off all the criticisms, saying, "If I love him, and I do, we will make things work."

Now I am considering breaking things off. He is the sweetest, kindest, gentlest person; he would be the most wonderful father I can think of; he is attractive, decent, and devoted to me. In other areas, we have nothing in common: he is outdoorsy, adventuresome, confident and arbitrary, while I am bookish, ambitious, tentative, and reserved.

My question to you is: Is it possible to wish someone well, to want him to be happy, and yet to know on a deep level that it just isn't going to work? Part of me wants to hold on to him, just because he is so special. The other part sees fights in the future, conflicts over money and attention.

Q: My situation is quite confusing. I'll start from the beginning. I'm 17 years old...and will be 18 in 13 days. I developed feelings for a guy at work over this past summer. He is 24. Keep in mind, I am a virgin and plan on staying that way for a long, long time...and he knows this.

He always treats me with kindess and respect...and has the ability to put a smile on my face no matter what. He is the ideal guy for me. Well, I am terrible at keeping things a secret. Apparently, I made my crush a little too obvious.

When he found out that I like him, he completely shut me out. I can't even go near him. It's as if I'm invisible. I thought he was mad at me. I asked someone if he was, and they said that I flustered him. That isn't exactly a good thing. Basically, he's going to stay away until he's comfortable around me...especially because he's afraid to lead me on.

What do I do? What does this mean? How do I fix this? Even if I don't have a chance romantically, I need to know how to fix our friendship. I've known him for over a year and for him to completely shut me out like this...it's killing me.

Ok, well right now im crying. I was supposed to go to my boyfriend Ian's house but my mom just wouldnt take me. She left a note on my back so that I saw it when I woke up. She's doing this because of my grandpa. I know she doesnt mean this because she approved of me and him. Its just because of what happened to my grandpa last night...

Right now we are experiencing a hurricane in my area and it has rained for the past four days now I think. My garndpa walked 3 miles in the rain to the cemetery where my great-grandma was buried, laid there for almost an hour, and talked to her. He told my grandma that my great-grandma said that she would see him soon, he would die soon. He told my grandma that no one loved him, no one cared for him, he was just too afraid to kill himself. He walked half way back and then started getting chest pains so he stopped and got someone to call the house. It was like 10:00pm. It's 7:00am right now, and he's still in chest pains, denying that he lives in th house, and my grandma is going to send him to an asylum. THIS IS ALL MY FAULT. IM A BAD PERSON. MY GRANDPA ALMOST COMMIT SUICIDE BECAUSE OF ME. IM A BAD PERSON. Rihgt now I just want all o this to go away but I love Ian, I dont want to stop dating him. Q: My family and i aren't really as close as i'd like us to be. my parents are always yelling at me and my brother about nothing and my parents are always arguing. I feel like I can't talk to them about anything. I'm 13, so this is a point in my life when i need alot of advice that can only come from them. my brother blames me for everything. he's 10 going on 11, so he shouldn't be THAT annoying. I spend all my time on the computer or watching TV because that's the only way that i stay out of anything, but then everyone yells at me because i spend too much time doing that. once i do stop, i compulsively organize everything and then they yell at me for "losing" their stuff. what can i do to stop all this insanity and bring us closer together??
