For some reason, I find that running on the treadmill is much easier than running outside, like on an actual track.
For example, I can run for over 30 minutes nonstop on the treadmill, but I can only run for less than 15 on the track.
Anyone know why the treadmill is easier than running on the track? (link)

I think it's probably easier for you to give up on the track becasue you aren't really setting a goal whereas you probably are on the readmill. It could also be the surfaces. Try running outside, not on a track, but like in the wwods. I find that's where I run my best because it's really hard to give up.

I want to keep more things to myself. I complain about everything all the time, and I always talk about people, good or bad. I hate it, how do I learn not to tell people everything, like when to stop? thanks! (link)

As somebody already suggested, start writing in a journal. Write down everything and anything you want because who else is going to see it? Make sure you keep it in a safe place though! One of my good friends suggested that because we both have the same problem, we don't know when to keep our mouths shut. It worked for us so it should work for you!

My friend cuts and she hasnt exactly told me or our other 2 friends about it..but she told our friend morgan and she knows and morgan has been telling me about it and stuff. Its getting bad and we all are about to go sit down and talk about it..can you suggest a good way to bring it up? anything to be sure to say? anything to make sure we DONT say? please help...i really wanna help her and its a tough subject......

The main thing to do in a situation like this is let her know that you all care about her and value her as a friend and stuff. Many people cut because they feel like nobody in the world loves them, including themself. When you are talking to her normally, bring up some of her great accomplishments, like "Remember when you hit that home run in the softball game and we ended up winning." Also, remind her of happy times you and your friends have had together, like "Remember when we all we outside and got out shoes stuck in the basketball hoop so I had to go to the store with one shoe on and one other random shoe tired around my ankle because my mom was yelling at us to leave?"
Also, some problems require solutions that are beyond what even a best friend can give. The fact that she told Morgan tells us that she knows it is a problem and she is searching for help. Suggest that she goes to see a therapist and tell a trusted adult.

Well, I have these two friends [lets call them...Anna and Sue] Well, They claim to be Best Friends but they NEVER hang out and always get in fights, and they dont know anything about eachother!
I am good friends with Anna, and she is moving in a few weeks. Me and her have been hanging out A LOT this Summer, and Sue always gets mad. So I fight with Sue, and she calls me a bitch a lot. But she doesnt realize some things...
Whenever I am with Anna, she talks about Sue like crazy! And not good things either...
So how can they be best friends? I care about both of them...but Sue really is a beotch. I dont know how they are "best friends"

If I were you, I would try to stay out of it. Talk to Sue and let her know that you and Anna have fun together but that Sue is still allowed to hang out with her. Tell both of them that you do not want to stand in the way of their friendship. If I were you, I would not tell Sue what Anna says because that would put you even farther into a problem that you are better off not bing invovled with. Just continue hanging out with Anna because she sounds like a true friend of yours.

I'm considering performing "The Contest" from Sweeney Todd (the musical) at camp. I know I can definitely pull it off vocally, because I have a very low voice, and not trying to sound cocky, but I'm a pretty good actor, so I could do the fake Italian accent accurately. And I could put shaving cream all over my friend.

That is not weird at all. It just shows off your acting ability even more. I played a guy in my 6th grade school play and had a blast. (I was Garvin in Footloose. So much fun!) Just go out there and have fun and nobody should care, except for maybe your friend who is going to be covered in shaving cream! Haha!

Also, your doctor should have a chart that he or she shows you every time you go for an anual check up. This should tell you where you are and where you should be. At that time, your doctor should also tell you what percentile you are in. At your next check up, you should ask if they don't show it to you or if you are really concerned go in for a visit sometime.
Also, there is this thing caled Body Mass Index (BMI). You can google it and you should get alot of information. I know there are some sites that have you enter your weight/height and it gives you your BMI. I'm pretty sure it should be around 20. I think I'm a 17-18 and I am 5'3" and weigh 105.

ok i'm 14/f and im 5'5 and i weigh like 110 pounds. am i like fat for my age? be honest. and dont say that its whatever i feel comfortable with or muscle weighs more than fat. i do gymnastics but only like once a week but i practice on my trampoline a lot so i do have muscular arms and some muscle in my legs.

Okay so im going to my best friend's house today. Normally i would never have to ask this question, because we have so much fun together, but she just moved, so she doesnt have any T.V., internet, or anything like that right now. So its going to be WICKED boring..so i was wondering what would be something fun to do?? like something involving, maybe paper, like the game MASH..does anyone know any games like MASH that we could play, or like something like truth or dare (but not nessacarily truth or dare..its just an example.) by the way we're both 14/f.

Maybe you can bring makeup or somethng like do each other's hair, if you are into that type of stuff. TALK! Sometimes we just sit and talk for hours. But as for games like MASH there is this game that my girls and I always play at sleepovers at like 4 in the morning. Person 1 lists 14 guys and 10 girls on a piece of paper that Person 2 tells her. Then Person 2 says random letters. (for example: 3 and 10) Person 1 says the names who are next to the letters that she wrote. (in the example: kim and tommy)Person 2 then says either "yes" if they think it would work for the two people to go out or "no" they would not go well together. Person 1 tallies up the amount of "yes"es and "no"s until there are no girls left. There will be 4 guys left. Person 1 asks Person 2 questions about each guy. (for example: would you ever go out with liam?)Each answer that is "yes" gets tallied under that column and each answer of "no" is tallied under the "no" column. Then Person 1 counts up the amount of "yes"es and the number that coresponds with that sum in the guys column is "the guy you are mant to be with". Wow, sorry, that's confusing but I explained it as best I can. Also, you can bring your portable CD player and some CDs if you have them and crank up some tunes and dance.

Hey, I know what you are going through. At the end of 3rd grade my best friend moved away (actually, at one point in time she was on here) and we saw each other but just for like birthdays and stuff for the next couple years. Then we pretty much lost touch until one day I was like, "You know what, I'm going to go call *inserts name of friend*". Ever since then, it feels like she hasn't moved away because we talk almost every day and are still pretty much best friends. Also, its cool becasue you can tell that friend anything because, seriously, who are they going to tell, you know? Anywayz, my advice is stay close to that friend through IM/email/calling/writing. Also, if you can swing it, call her up with a surprise visit. (my friend did that to me last year and while we just went to McDonalds and to see a light show, it was one of the best days of my life) But alos, do not be afraid to make new friends. You are allowed to have more than one best friend so try looking for one around where you live. Hope I helped!

I'm 13 years old and I'm about 5'4. I once heard that if you're 5 feet tall, your supossed to weigh 100 pounds, and for every inch after that, it's another 5 pounds. Well, that would mean that I'm suposed to weigh about 120 pounds, but i only weigh 95. Does this mean I'm 25 pounds UNDERweight? It seems that if I gained 25 pounds, I'd be looking near obese. I don't feel or look underweight. Am I? (link)

That's just like the general rule. People, hello! I'm sorry but it isn't whether or not you think you are okay unless you are some special in health care. It certainly isn't whether or not you feel good about yourself. The real way to find out if you are the right weight is contact your doctor. They should also tell you at your anual check up. Ask your doctor what the right weight is for YOU. But seriously, to gain weight, gain muscle. I'm not saying that you aren't muscular but you seem to not have alot of muscle weight.

Most people do a 2,000 calories per day diet. However, the correct answer is the same amount you burn, you should take in (meaining if you burn 2,000...you should take in 2,000) To loose weight, burn more and take in less...to gain weight, burn less and take in more. However, when you think of burning calories, it is so much more than just excercise. Right now, I am burning calories by typing, thinking, and even just breathing. AS I am unsure of the exact amount of calories different activities burn, I would google it or talk to a health care professional.

Hey, I probably shouldn't be ansering this because I'm in the same exact position but what I can tell you is to join clubs. I'm doing Cross Country and we've already had some practices and so I already know people and have made new friends. Just smile and be yourself. Try some self confidence boosters (such as naming 10 good thing sabout yuorself)and remember to lvoe yourself first. It will really show through your personality and make people want to be friends with you. The last thing I will say that I am going to try to do is have the friends you made in middle school, or junior high, as a back up support system. When things go bad, call them up and just chat for a while.
Sorry, one more thing, also invited people to sit with you at lunch. I'm going to tell the story of how my best friend and I became friends...We were in two of the same classes and she just walked up and said "hi". At the time I was really nervous but (as I keep finding out to this day) she is like awesome at making friensd. Then she asked me to sit at lunch and the rest was histroy. Seriously, it was that simple.

Well, if you want to stay the same weight, you need to burn as many calories as you take in. To gain weight, you need to take in more, and to loose weight, you need to take in less. Using the basic figure of 5' is 100 pounds, and every inch after that is another 5 pounds, you should be at a pretty good weight so if at all possible, try to count the amount of calories you brun in an average day. While that is nearly impossible. you can make an estimated guess. Next try to match that number in the amount of calories you eat per day. FOr more detailed help, I would go see your doctor or a nutrionist.

I used to have that problem and I hated it. I got one of my best friends (who is pretty strong) to slap me wicked hard every time I did it. She did and that pretty much got me to stop. Now I just substitue in things like "fudge" for something else that begins with an "f". Also, just really think before you say something.

I feel like I am not needed. Like I don't have a purpose on this Earth. I feel like if I was gone, no one would notice. And I honestly believe that no one would. I would be gone for weeks before any of my "friends" noticed I was gone. And my family, they would all move on extremely quickly. I am always forgotten, left on the sidelines, doing nothing, locked up in my room, wishing that someone loved me....

First of all, I know how you feel because I've felt like that many times before. Every one has a prupose in life, or else we wouldn't be here. If songs and music help you, like they do me, listen to "Welcome to Wherever You Are" by Bon Jovi. It usually picks me up when I'm feeling like that. Second of all, you have to understand that there are at least 10 people in this world who truely care about you. Really take time for think about it and name them for yourself. I assume your parents and best friend would top the list. As someone else said, my friends (especialy my best friend) and I always say, "you go, i go". We don't even have to be talking about anything like that, but we can sense how we are feelign and that just makes us feel better. Another way to make you feel like you have a purpose in life is star helping around the community. Last of all, you need to live for yourself. Other people are going to carry knives and stab you in the back or otherwise hurt you in some way. My best friend is everything to me, but sometimes we make plans and she ends up ditchin me. And she always says that SHE'LL BE THERE, and then I ask her if she if going and she says "no", and when I ask "why" she says "I made plans before" and that absolutly ticks me off. And I get sooooo mad at her that I end up calling her a name or something. I always think that she talks about me because we kinda fight when we're not together. What do I do? There was a period in time that my "most bestest friend" did that to me. However, then I talked to her and she said that she didn't "reliaze she was doing it". Well, she got better after that.
Sit her down and say, "look, we really need to talk." Once you have her attention continue on to say something like, "I love you and everything, but it really hurts when you blow me off all time." If she starts to explain, let her and really listen to her. The best case would be she would realize what she was doing and stop.
However, there is always the worse case when she might not stop and keep blowing you off. As hard as it may be, I think then it would be time to start looking for a new friend. Maybe you can stil be friends with her, but BEST friends with someone else.

You can run, swim, bike, jog, or otherwise just get moving. Eat healthily, but do not starve yourself. 1. If you don't eat, you die eventually. 2. If you start eating again, you get bigger than you were before because your body wants to store the fat. Someone else suggested drinking alot of water, which does help because it "flushes out your system" (to quote my best friend) aka it makes you go to the bathroom. Simple things like reaching for a piece of fruit instead of a chocolate bar, cutting down the proportions of food, and fitting in at least 30 minutes of excercise every day. The simple equation is eating less calories+burning more calories=lossing weight. Oh and eating smaller meals, more frequently helps because it jumps starts your motabolism. (sorry, can't spell but it's the thing that burns fat)

The Graduation song by Vitamin C is almost so overplayed that it is expected. It was my 8th grade song and still got all of us close to tears although it is over played. To look back on memories, I suggest "Young" by Kenny Chesney. (played on the way back to my friends house, we all belted it out, and made it our song). Also, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day and "our Lives" by The Calling.
Sorry, I don't really know about 60s, 70s, or 80s rock songs!
