My best friend is everything to me, but sometimes we make plans and she ends up ditchin me. And she always says that SHE'LL BE THERE, and then I ask her if she if going and she says "no", and when I ask "why" she says "I made plans before" and that absolutly ticks me off. And I get sooooo mad at her that I end up calling her a name or something. I always think that she talks about me because we kinda fight when we're not together. What do I do? Not be her friend? or... tell her to screw herself? or just ignore it and keep being her "friend"?
Sit her down and say, "look, we really need to talk." Once you have her attention continue on to say something like, "I love you and everything, but it really hurts when you blow me off all time." If she starts to explain, let her and really listen to her. The best case would be she would realize what she was doing and stop.
However, there is always the worse case when she might not stop and keep blowing you off. As hard as it may be, I think then it would be time to start looking for a new friend. Maybe you can stil be friends with her, but BEST friends with someone else. [ CavieOwnsU2's advice column | Ask CavieOwnsU2 A Question ]

Be the bigger person and dont be mean even if she is... if shes not matture enough to tell you the truth of handle it correctly then just start hanging out with other people.. a best friend is someone who should always be there and not cause so much drama or make you feel like shit. Meghan09 answered Saturday July 8 2006, 9:08 pm: Slowly start to make new friends, that she doesn't hang out with. That way you can get a new best friend and for once be the one ditching her. If she gets mad tell her to get over it! Tell her how she has always done that to you and your done with it. Make sure you have back up friends though. That way you won't end up alone. It'll teach her that it isn't right to treat people that way. Hope I helped. [ Meghan09's advice column | Ask Meghan09 A Question ]
miren2k answered Saturday July 8 2006, 8:51 pm: You need to start going out with other people, or maybe go out in a group instead of just this one friend. Clearly though, if this friend means a lot to you, then don't just drop her, make her feel a bit jelous though about your ongoings with other friends and if she asks about it, tell her that you invited her but she didn't bother to come like she always does; it might occur to her that she is being irritating and obviously it will result in affecting her as much as it does to you. You need to mainly sit down though and talk to her, tell her it's really bugging you, you won't lose her as a friend, you're in power of this situation. Exquisitechick answered Saturday July 8 2006, 8:44 pm: Well, you say she is everything to you? But, it sounds like she doesnt think the same about you. You need to get rid of her, i know it is hard...But it will probably be the best thing to do. A real friend doesnt do stuff like that to you. She is not being fair to you or to herself. And when you finally get rid of her, later on she will kick herself in the butt for doing what she did to you.
Just be done with her. Or talk to her about it, and if she does it again...Just be done
DefinedEyes answered Saturday July 8 2006, 8:44 pm: Communication is the key.
You need to talk to her about what she does and how it makes you feel, its the only way to get things straight. If you do talk to her and she ends up getting all defensive and yelling and whatever, then you have figured out your answer to if you want to be her friend yet, you know?
thelaura answered Saturday July 8 2006, 8:43 pm: Having a friendship works both ways and she isn't playing her part.
Frustrating, isn't it?
Alot of people go through this with so called "friends".
You need to have a talk with her. Tell her it upsets you when she makes plans with you first then changes her mind. Ask her why she does this.
She needs to make an effort. Otherwise, to put it bluntly, she will walk all over you and expect you to always be there and catch her when she messes up.
Work at it though. It's silly to lose friends over petty things like this. Although sometimes, it really cannot be helped.
I hope you work things out. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
