Dance... with a nerd
Ok, this guy asked me to a school dance. But, he is fat, and he is a real nerd. He was the first to ask me. Im afraid that people will laugh at me for going with him. I really want to go because it will be fun and we get to go to six flags afterwards. What should I do? Go to the dance with the fat nerd... or stay home?

I know exactly what it's like to be that shallow. I've turned down guys because they weren't up to my standards. But as you actually grow up, you learn that not all "fat nerds" are bad people. I'm not going to say go to the dance with him or don't take him. Think of it from his point of view though. If you think this way of him, just think of how he must feel about himself. It probably took a lot of courage to ask out someone like you. If your that confident, you've got to be a pretty girl. Just think about it though, if you were in his position and worked up the confidence to ask a hot guy to the dance, would you rather him go with you or be shallow and say, shes not good enough for me. Either way you are lying, but think of his feelings instead of your own. Yes, Nerds have feelings too. Everyone deserves a chance at some point or another, maybe you can be the one to give him his chance. Never know what could happen.

Go to the dance if its something you want to do. You should'nt worrie about what the others will thik. Besides im shure it took alot of couradge for that guy to ask you out, why not give him a chance? He may be a verry nice guy and you might have loads of fun.

You need to stop being rude first of all. Looks does not matter. Thats very sad. If you are going to judge people like that you will not make it far in life. And second you should not care what people think of you. If they dont like you or laugh at you or say mean things to you then tell them to fuck off. I am not saying all of this because I am "fat or a nerd" because im not. I am a small person and I am not very smart. And no people never made fun of me because they knew if they did I would have hit them. PLus I wasnt in school that much. I was a trouble maker. lol. So see right there should be all the answers to your questions.
1)I dont care what you say or think about what I wrote you dont like it then shove it.
2)Dont worry about the looks of someone I am sure that that "fat nerd" is a very nice person. At leat you know he will make something and be someone out of life.

I cannot tell you what to do. Only you decide for yourself. But think, do you like this guy? Do you even know this guy enough to decide what you think about him? If you don't really know him, give him a chance. If you know a lot about him, and you don't like him, simply say no. It will hurt, but you can't make up another story or stay home and not enjoy yourself.

Why is evryone being mean to you?
Its like, i totally understand where you're coming from, and yeah, i know its mean and a bit shallow. But when you're a teenager in high school there's alot of pressure and i know i would rather turn him down and say i just wanna go with some friends than have people laughing at me and teasing me.
The other advice columnists might think im selfish and horrible, but its hard at high school.
Anyway, soz about that, i'll answer your question now. Really, i think that you should tell him that you just feel like having a laugh with your friends and going with them, tell him he can come with you and your friends, but you dont wanna go with a date.

If you want to have fun, just go to the dance. You're being so selfish and mean to this guy. Just tell him that you would rather go with your friends and that you don't want to go with him because he's a fat nerd and you don't want to ruin your reputation. He really does deserve someone better. Stop being so stuck up and give some people a chance. I really don't care what you rate me so if you're going to call me a bitch or whatever, go for it. i'd say definitly go with him unless you're only going to spare his feelings. you said yourself hes really nice and it would be fun! thats what counts! if you go there, have a good time and act really excited before hand about who you're going with, peoples opinions will change. they might and probably will still talk. but seriously. who the hell cares? dont even pay attention to what people think. its all about you anyways :-)

hey. dont be afraid to turn the guy down. just say that you were already asked (even though this may be a lie). you could also kindly tell him that you had someone else in mind that you would like to go with. make sure to be really sweet about it though, you dont want to hurt his feelings. if you say it in a sincere way then he shouldnt be mad and he will understand. go to the dance and have a good time. dont let one guy crash your your great dance. hope this helps!! :] ♥ ♥ ♥

you say he is a fat nerd, but you didn't say anything about his personality. if he is a nice guy, you will have an amazing time whether you like him or not. if he is not so nice, you might not have such a good time. no matter what, you don't have to be with him the whole time, so you'll have fun either way. i say you give him a chance. you never know what could happen.

Maybe you should go with the "fat nerd". If people laugh, just say it's no big deal, we just danced. If you stay home it will hurt his feelings, so I say go with him.
