Today I decided to completley put my faith and trust into God, I really took him into my life today. However, I just started going to church last year so I was never baptised and never confirmed. Can I still expect to go to Heaven? What exactly does being confirmed or baptised mean?
Showtime answered Friday February 10 2006, 4:27 pm: Dont listen to the advice of those fools. You can still get baptised and confirmed. You will be transformed. The official teachings that Christ has handed down and has been deposited over the past 2 thousand years can be found here.
I am so excited for you. Go to the nearest Catholic Church and get signed up for RCIA and you will recieve all your sacraments in less than a year. If you die before you recieve them you will still be saved because you have made the commitment to do what he wants. God bless you. [ Showtime's advice column | Ask Showtime A Question ]
Heartwhisper answered Thursday January 12 2006, 9:49 pm: I've not attended and church or read the Bible, nor have I been baptised or confirmed and not for a single second have I ever wondered if I would go to Heaven or not. I believe a Creator, as Divine as Christianity's God, would not ever judge It's own creation. That just wouldn't make sense to me. I know I haven't answered your question... but from my almost 61yo perpsective, I see the Bible as a history book, used for centuries to put fear into people's hearts, to control the masses in times of upheaval. You dear heart are a beautiful creation, a one of a kind, and doesn't it feel good to know there is only one person just like you, YOU?! I have the Creator in my heart, it came about when I almost died, and I simply allow my heart to guide my choices and live by the Christian's Golden Rule. I believe Christ came to teach me to love others unconditionally and that I am responsible for my choices/sins and that no one had to die to save me. It is for me to save me. Christ came to earth as the ultimate example of a human being who had simply stepped into his 'magic' powers if you will, to heal, to lead by example, and to show us the Way back to the Divine Light of Love that is eternal. I hope you find your answer, that you find peace with this issue in your life and that one day, perhaps years from now, you remember my answer and it clicks with you, like it did for me back in the late 80's. I wish you well, and send you all blessings in all ways that you may 'see' you way to inner peace. [ Heartwhisper's advice column | Ask Heartwhisper A Question ]

himalayanlotus2003 answered Tuesday January 10 2006, 10:28 am: So atlast you made upyour mind. that is ok. but it does not have anything to go to heaven or hell. it is still a belief. you have said, all with my faith and trust...where this question will come for the person who has faith or trust in somebody. the question shows, that your logical mind needs some solace, nice words from somebody. a person who has faith on something will never worry about future. because of this belief or that belief you cannot go anywhere. but if you make it as a experiential process, you can enjoy the heaven right here. will you have faith about your 2 hands, is it not experiential. similarly whether you believe god or demen - will not make any difference for this life to live in this world. but you can make yourself to evolve such higher dimension thro scientific processes such as yoga. it doesn't mean you have to give up your faith, religion, culture for that. you can verywell keep them with you. it does not any impact to pursue thepath. the path like "isha yoga" taught by realized master sadhguru jaggi vasudev- who runs isha yoga centre under his guidence is a suitable one for you in myown experience- however if you wish you can visit the website www.ishafoundation.org [ himalayanlotus2003's advice column | Ask himalayanlotus2003 A Question ]
TinkerbellsHelp answered Monday January 9 2006, 9:10 pm: (I'm aithiest. But I was Catholic. And I was baptised and confirmed, so hear me out.) Baptism is when the priest puts holy water on a persons forehead to sort of "Welcome" them into the Catholic church. Confirmation.. I have no clue what its for (pathetic I know, I went through with it), but I think its like "confirming your religion"
To get baptised and confirmed, you will have to work really hard and study. You have to go to the church that you want to go to and talk to the lead priest, he should tell you what you need to do.

mylordwon answered Monday January 9 2006, 2:47 pm: Being baptized is a public display of your faith. Going down in the water represents your belief in Christ's death and coming up out of the water represents being born again; that your old self is left behind and you are beginning your life with Christ. There is a spiritual freedom that takes place when a person is baptized. The Bible says in Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Confirmation is a tradition in the Catholic and Lutheran churches. Maybe some other mainline denominations too, but that's all it is, it's a manmade tradition. There is nothing in the bible to support this act. Denominations that believe a person needs to be confirmed usually believe in infant baptism. But the verse above is very clear that belief comes first. If you look through the bible, there were no infants or little children baptized. Only people old enough to make the choice to believe. purpledragonfly answered Monday January 9 2006, 4:04 am: follow God. follow your beliefs. God knows what you know in your soul. If and when you are ready you will go to Heaven if you believe in your heart that you will. Being confirmed or Baptised just means that you have devoted to Christ. A lot of people have done this without going to church and maintaining the Christian lifestyle on their own. You will be fine if you believe. Sherry answered Sunday January 8 2006, 4:55 pm: Being baptized means your publically displaying to everyone that you have accepted Jesus into your life. It is not required to go to heaven, but it is a nice thing to do..to show others that you have become a christian. Your still going to Heaven if you dont do it, dont worry ! mystical_breeze answered Sunday January 8 2006, 4:03 pm: Being baptised doesn't make you go to heaven, only loving Jesus and accepting him into your heart will. I was never baptised, and as Christians we only believe that being baptised will confirm to everyone else that you really love God, but it doesn't stop you from going to heaven if you don't. I love Jesus Christ with all my heart, so I am going to heaven (by what the Bible says, anyway).
AdViCeGiRl14 answered Sunday January 8 2006, 3:35 pm: Dear Heaven, I am a Christian and I have been since I was 8. I am 13 now and have recently started geting more into Christianity as I get older. The true meaning of being saved, you do have to be baptized. But before you get baptized (and this is what its all about) the true meaning of being a Christian is believeing that Jesus, the Son of God came to earth in human form died for all of your sins and is the true lord and is your savior, and you need to TRULY believe that with your heart before you want to get baptized. When you are baptized there's no reversing it. You are saved. But ou cant go to heaven without it. [ AdViCeGiRl14's advice column | Ask AdViCeGiRl14 A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Sunday January 8 2006, 3:18 pm: According to what I believe [I've grown up in non-denomonational churches and baptist churches], you DO NOT need to be baptised to go to Heaven. A baptism is simply a public statement of faith.
Jesus was baptised - but He is God's Son. He didn't need to be baptised, He was just showing us what we needed to do. We are supposed to follow His example and be baptised - but only after you've accepted Him as your Lord.
It's like.. having a baby. You had a baby, whether the announcement was in the paper or not. You're still saved, whether you're baptised or not. The announcement in the paper just tells everyone that you had a baby; as the baptism tells everyone that you're a Christian.

jenymca answered Sunday January 8 2006, 1:28 pm: YES! You have trusted God and now you will be accepted by him. It is very happy to hear another person joining God. Baptizing means that you've been forgiven of all sins. I recommend getting baptized, you can do it at any age (I've seen adults at my church, I was a baby, my sister was 10). Confirmation isnt that important, its just learning about the bible (at least for me that was what it was) I was confirmed at the age of 15. I think "becoming a member of a church" is the same thing. Congratulations again!! I wish you the best in life with God! [ jenymca's advice column | Ask jenymca A Question ]
HectorJr answered Sunday January 8 2006, 1:26 pm: Talk to your parish to see what you can do about it. I think you might go through the process maybe in easter; adults go through that process in easter, not sure if you are an adult or anything so find out. Yes you can still expect to go to heaven. It depends on the church really. If you mean Roman Catholic Church (follows the authority of the Pope as the direct decedant as leader of the church from St.Peter), then essentially Baptism and Confirmation is the same thing; look at it as like a two step process. Baptism is being admitted into the church by parents or guardians at a young age usually, where confirmation is your own choice - you have to confirm that you truly believe and do want to be a part of the church. Glad to hear about your spiritual awakening, good luck and hope that helped. [ HectorJr's advice column | Ask HectorJr A Question ]
jamziix16 answered Sunday January 8 2006, 1:26 pm: Being confirmed [at least in a Catholic church] means you're becoming a adult in the catholic world. You are responsible for your own actions. You can expect to go to heaven, because although you didn't get baptised or confirmed - there's no sins that are unforgiveable. I'm 15 - i'm not confirmed yet. Hope I helped :)

rainbowcherrie answered Sunday January 8 2006, 1:21 pm: Congratulations on being able to do that, I personally lost any faith I have in God. I respect the fact that you have faith.
Of course you can still expect to go to Heaven. Like I said, I no longer consider myself a Christian, but I go to a Christian school and went to church for a long time and I know that you don't have to be baptised or confirmed to go to 'Heaven'.
