swimming with tampons

Question Posted Wednesday August 17 2005, 7:44 pm

okay, i use tampons during my period, but im nervous to go swimming with them in. Im afraid the water will soak the string, making the blood travel out trhough the tampon string. Does this happen or am i worrying for nothing?

Ignore the previous answer. If you tend to have heavier periods then wear a tampon when swimming. Once while I was swimming I bled, even though I was wearing a tampon. Imagine what would have happened had I not been waering one. Just be cautious and check to see that you haven't bled through the yampon, just as if you were wearing one while not swimming.

don't worry about it! you can definately swim with a tampon in, the only way it'll leak is if it's been in too long, just like any other time. the water has no effect on it leaking.

hey! theres nothing to worry about, believe me, i've done it before. cause when you're in water, the blood flow stops. so no blood cmoes out at all. the string doesnt soak or anything like that, its safe. just make sure the string stays where its supposed to be, and nobody will know anything :) hope this helped, of you have more questions leave a message in my inbox. peace and love, xoxo

Tampons are meant to hold the blood in. If you wear them for a long period of time, then yes it will leak. But you can go swimming with a tampon in, it will not leak. You have nothing to worry about...! Your worrying for nothing!!

You are just worrying. I was a little nervous when I started swimming with tampons in, but the blood stops when your in the water anyhow. The water will get the string wet, but it won't ruin the tampon. Just make sure you take your tampon out after swimming.

You can swim with tampons. That's pretty much the whole point of tampons so you could swim with them and be more comfortable. What you should do, if you have a light flow, wear a regular tampon. If you have a regular flow, wear a heavy tampon. And if you have a heavy flow, wear a heavy tampon but change it every 2-3 hours or so to be on the safe side. You should be fine if you do that. Much luck.
