Nerves and thinking too much sometimes lead us to not be able to sleep. Visit your local vitamin store and ask for Melatonin (Around 2mg) which is good for sleep supporting. If you can't get to the vitamin store, then a nice glass of warm milk will have a good amount of melatonin in it itself to help you sleep.

I have the exact same problem! I go to bed like at 10 and I can't fall asleep until 1. Try these though:

1. Pretend you're "sinking" into your bed. As you are "sinking", relax each part of your body. Then say them in your head. "Foot, Knee, Leg, etc."
2. Talk to yourself. Its okay to talk to yourself. Just whisper to yourself, "I'm okay. I'm in my nice house which I am thankful for. My parents are downstairs...."
3. Make up a story. Just start thinking up a random story, as you are telling it in your head, you might fall asleep.
4. Go to the bathroom before bed. Then you won't have to worry about getting up in the middle of the night to go and then not being able to fall back asleep.
5. Have your room be dark, with little light, and little background noise.
6. If you have a fan in your house and you can hear it, listen to the repetetive noise. Repetetive noises are the only good background sounds to have before bed.
7. Look at some pictures of you and your family and friends before bed.
8. Count to 1000.
9. This sounds SO weird but it always works for me: Make up random screennames or names for people. lol
10. Pick a bedtime. Stick with it. Every night if you can.
11. Talk to a doctor.

Hope I helped!

I have trouble falling asleep sometimes .. the best thing to do is try to watch a movie. Dont watch a movie you really want to see because you might get caught up and not be able to fall asleep. Watch something you've seen before and maybe you'll doze off. If you really cant fall asleep I once heard benadryl (for allergies) knocks you out! lol. PS: If you sleep in all day then try to go to bed at a normal hour, you'll probably have difficulty sleeping - avoid doing that unless you can go to bed later. =) Hope I helped. Good Luck! -- Isabel

Wake up at a reasonable time and get into a good sleeping pattern. Sleep like anything is mostly habbit, and once your body gets used to going to bed at a certain time, it will be easier for you. To get into the cycle, try watching something boring and fall asleep with the TV on. Have a drink of cocoa or horlicks before bed or get some Kalms tablets from your pharmacist which encourage natural sleep. Hope that helps.

I just listen to Smooth Jazz or Kenny G while Im trying to sleep. I just imagine myself playing the saxophone along with Kenny G, and before you know it... Im out!

It might work for you... if you're that kinda person..

HyperactiveMiss answered Tuesday July 5 2005, 8:05 pm:
1. Stay up for a whole 24 hours if you can. If you can't, I'd try to stay awake for as long as you can, taking a quick nap, and waking up. After a day of no sleep, you'll be awfully tired. Wait until the time you'd like to go to sleep (Like 10 PM or something) and then sleep. You'll sleep like a log and you'll be back on track!

2. Maybe you can't sleep earlier because you're on the computer. When I'm on the computer, I can be on for hours and not feel at all sleepy. You should probably limit yourself from the computer.

3. If you're laying in bed and you can't sleep, maybe it's because you have too much on your mind. If that's the case, take a notepad, and write your thoughts down. Clear your head. In the morning you can go back to those ideas later.

4. Listening to classical or boring music might help. Or you can try any music, actually. Whatever works for you.

5. When you're trying to sleep, don't think about anything. Just clear your mind and concentrate on your breathing. Some people think about being on a rollercoaster, concentrating on the twists and turns. You could also try that, however whenever I try that I end up thinking about how fun it was and then I can't fall asleep. Lol.

6. Try reading. Eventually your eyes will get tired and you'll drift off to sleep.

7. Watch TV. You can put it on sleep mode, so it won't be on all night after you've fallen asleep.

8. Eat something and/or milk. You could also try a warm drink, like tea or hot cocoa. After having a full stomach, you might feel sleepy.

9. Take a walk. After a long walk, you'll feel tired and ready for bed.

I hope things work out for you! =)

blondebaby1016 answered Tuesday July 5 2005, 8:03 pm:
Theres an old myth that if you heat up milk in a mug in the microwave it'll help you sleep. But I myself, have sleep problems. I take medicane about 1 hr to 1 1/2 before I go to bed, and it'll help me sleep, its called "simply sleep", you don't need a prescription to get it, you can just buy it.

Also, other tips for helping you sleeping, avoid watching tv, talking online and video games, instead do something like reading, or just writing, something like that. I've found reading a great way to get tired, (not just because its boring sometimes ;) hope that helped,
