Im sorry to say that most of the time , when I sleep I dream about killing people or I die in my dreams, me and my grilfriend are really worried about this, does anyone have and advice for me?
RBfootballTD answered Wednesday March 30 2005, 11:45 am: you cannot control what you dream, its your mind, it thinks what it wants, i know your not a little kid, but maybe its because of the movies you see, also, dreams do not always tell the future, they dont always even express your views, but they do tell you how your mind is thinking. You need to keep these dreams in mind, the setting, who it was, if you see any of these things as the same as your dream, steer clear IMMEDIATLY! gessyka answered Wednesday March 30 2005, 12:15 am: It doesnt necessarily mean anything bad. It could be internal anger or loss of something, or if you feel like you're lacking something in life or something like that. I know it sounds strange but trust me, dreams are more complex than that ONE thing you dream about. They have many different meanings, so don't be worried. But then again, if it does bother you a lot, then you can talk to someone who knows about this type of stuff, and see how it goes from there..
squirrell answered Tuesday March 29 2005, 7:48 pm: Don't blame yourself it isnt your fault so don't stress. Oh and no this doesn't mean you really want to kill people, offten dreams have hiden meanings and you just don't know what it is chances are it has nothing to do with wanting to kill people so stop worrying. Please rate. [ squirrell's advice column | Ask squirrell A Question ]
Crystal_Moon answered Tuesday March 29 2005, 6:58 pm: Dreams are all parts of us and when we sleep our bodies are completely relaxed and our subconsious is at work. It sounds like you are very angry at people and that you killing them in your dreams is an outlet for your anger and when you die in your dreams is you feeling threatend by something. Keep a tablet beside your bed and write down your dreams when you first wake up in the morning, it will help you relate to your dreams and help make them clear for you. alisonmarie answered Tuesday March 29 2005, 12:24 pm: Dreams are dreams - things that happen when you are not conscious. You cannot control them.
What you CAN do is one of two things (or both things!):
1. Decide not to let your dreams bother you. Accept them for what they are, your brain's way of dealing with leftover emotions from a busy day.
2. Find a counsellor who is experienced in discussing dreams and what they might mean. This is the opposite advise of #1, because these psychotherapists believe that dreams DO have deeper meanings. Discussing your dreams with a professional might help you work through deeper problems, or just set your mind at rest.
karenR answered Tuesday March 29 2005, 1:33 am: Since you have no control over what you dream there isn't much to advise you on.
I know that people on antidepressants can have dreams like these. Are you on some med that could be giving you them as a side effect?
If not I wouldn't worry about it. If you are on a medication check with your doctor and get it adjusted.:} [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
Siren_Cytherea answered Monday March 28 2005, 11:59 pm: Are they solidly reoccuring dreams? Like, do the SAME dreams about killing specific people, or the SAME dreams about dying come back over and over again, with the same details?
It could just be a fear of death, or a fear of losing something. Afraid of something ending, perhaps? Death can be a metaphor for a lot of things. It's really nothing to worry about - just an annoyance.
The last time I had a reoccuring dream, I analyzed the symbols in it, figured out what it meant/what was going on in my subconscious, and it stopped.
I don't know if you believe in all that stuff, but if you do and you'd like a little help, you can give me details of one or two of your dreams and I'll see what I can do.
If not, just know that it's probably just a fear of losing something, someone, or the fear of something ending.
I hope this helped a little!

Asc answered Monday March 28 2005, 11:48 pm: The fact that you're worried about it means that it's not a problem. Neat, eh? Since dreams don't necessarily affect your actions, the only way to predict whether you're going to, say, go on a killing spree is other factors. You're worried, which indicates that you have something along the lines of a conscience or morals or whatever, and don't want to. So you won't. Me and my B in psychology 101 agree that there's a pretty good chance that it's a result of worry or stress or somesuch, and probably isn't a mental problem.
The next paragraph is the 'just in case', which I know is probably irrelevant but which I can't really fail to mention for my, your, and other people who might have a vested interest in this question's peace of mind.
*If* you were a necrophiliac, algolagniac or hematolagniac, (one who derives pleasure from death/bodies, pain, and blood, respectively), it might be a different story. Even then, though, the fact that you're worried would probably mean you're not a danger; paraphilias don't magically make one a bad person and/or make one try to indulge in them. On the other knuckle, if you're experiencing strong homicidal feelings when awake, you probably ought to talk to a councillor. [ Asc's advice column | Ask Asc A Question ]
Vilebunni answered Monday March 28 2005, 11:45 pm: Dreams do not necessarily "mean nothing," but I have to agree with the general consensus about not worrying too terribly much about this "Dying dream."
You subconsious(the part of your brain that you can't control) is awake and processing things while you sleep, this is why you dream. Lots of times when you dream about things that are so final, and that you can't seem to escape, your subconsious is trying to deal with feelings having to do with feeling trapped in your everyday life.
Is there a situation in which you feel you don't have any say in what goes on? Are there people in your life that you feel are holding you back (thus, the dreams about killing)?
These may be issues to consider. Also, if I were you, I'd do a google search about the meaning of dreams and dream interpretations and see what you can get out of there.
xlostangelx answered Monday March 28 2005, 11:41 pm: ive had many many dreams where i die...i have nightmares about 4 out of the 7 days of the week and all of them now are me dying. im not sure if its normal to have these dreams but ive talked to alot of people about them and they all say that its okay, and that they have them sometimes too. you and your girlfriend have no need to worry because they are just dreams. if they are bothering you this much, you should definately talk to a professional about this to ease your stress. freun989 answered Monday March 28 2005, 11:15 pm: It is impossible to die in your dreams... well not impossible but highly unlikely. Since dreams are produced by the brain, if you die in your dream, your brain will think you are actually dead. In turn, your body systems shut down and you do die.
Sherry answered Monday March 28 2005, 9:03 pm: My advice is not to worry. Dreams are dreams, they dont mean anything...at all. No matter what anyone tells you. This doesnt make you a murderer and does not mean your going to die[well everyone dies but you know]. Dont worry about it...I have dreams of killing people, and getting killed too...so yeah its normal but its not really going to happen! [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
