Persuasive Essay on abotion
ok in my english class I have to write a paper on a assigned topic. My topic is abortions. I need opinions and any information that is good and bad about abortions. Please I need help on this. I have my own opinion but I need more than just what I think.

Well, since you've gotten so many opinions against abortion, I will give you a few arguments against making it illegal.
1. Women still die carrying and delivering babies.
I won't go into all the possibilities here, but if you want them, ask. Even if we accept that a baby becomes a person with all the legal protection that a child has at conception, outlawing medically induced abortions is not the same as asking someone to be inconvenienced for another person - it's forcing them to risk their lives for them. The answer to "put it up for adoption" can be "why should I risk my life so someone else can have a baby?" It's considerably less likely that a woman will die as a result of an abortion - at any stage of pregnancy - than that she will die as a result of pregnancy or labor complications.
2. Conception cannot be used as the point where legal protection begins.
Using conception as the point where legal protection should start is well, impossible really. Excepting the instincts of the occasional woman who is really in tune with her body, there is no way to tell that conception has occurred for several days with any available test. Pregnancy tests rely on hormone changes that don't occur until after implantation (the attachment of the fertilized egg to the uterine wall). An ultrasound can't find something that small. On top of that, accepted birth control methods like the IUD don't stop conception, they stop implantation. We honestly don't know if the birth control pill will cause the uterine lining to shed even if there is a newly attached zygote. No one has ever tried to find out, although a lot of people spout their opinion on the matter.
3. Difficulties Determining Pregnancy.
Sometimes you don't know your pregnant until after the first trimester. My sister's pregnancy tests kept coming back negative - all the way through the 5th month - after they found the baby on the ultrasound. It's not all that rare for a woman to still get a light period the first month. Take into account that irregular periods are not considered abnormal until after your 18, and become normal again after 40, you have nearly 1/2 of the time that a woman could become pregnant where it's not unusual to miss a month. So it's not all that unbelievable that many unexpectedly pregnant women won't realize they're pregnant until the start of the 3rd month of pregnancy. If the woman's life includes exposure to alcohol or drugs, irreparable harm has most likely already been done.
Anyway, those are some bits that might help you out. Remember, in a persuasive paper, you want to take the arguments for the side you don't agree with and show why you don't agree with them.

My opinion is that there's nothing wrong with it as long as the baby hasn't yet started transforming in to a proper human being.
People that had sex and got pregnant for not being responsible and using protection should take the responsibilty of looking after there own kid but if they are planning on having an abortion before they are three months pregnant it shouldn't be considered murder since the baby only starts transforming in to a human being from an egg through the third month.
After three months I think abortion should be considered murder because 3 months is enough for anyone to realise that they can't handle the baby and they need to get rid of it.
However, when someone is raped I'm 80% for abortion seeing as I know if I was raped I wouldn't be able to have the child because it would be a reminder to me every single day that someone forced me to have sex with them. However if it's after three months I still consider it murder (hence the reason why I said I'm 80% for it)
You now have my opinion, that honestly, no one cares about =P

Just a couple of facts -
*A baby can actually stand up, stretch and YAWN inside the mother's womb aged 18 weeks. People used to think they simply stayed curled up in the fetal position, but new 3D ultrasound has proved otherwise :) This shows that a baby at 24 weeks, the abortion cut off date, is most definately a human being, and not a 'thing' unrecognisable as a human being.
*The legal end date for abortion is 24 weeks - six whole months!!! (That's a fully formed baby - 6-9 months is just growing time).
*Do you know what the actual abortion process is? Very early on they use a vacuum and 'suck' the baby out, but when the pregnancy is further along, they actually insert an instrument into the uterus and chop the baby up so they can pull it out through the vagina.
*The UK is considering shortening the final date for abortion to 20 weeks.
*A baby is considered viable (i.e. it could survive if it was born at that time) at 20 weeks thanks to modern technology (so 20 weeks is kinda late for abortion).
*There are two typed of people who campaign about abortion - pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life are against and pro-choice, while they don't parade around screaming 'lets kill babies' support the woman's right to choose what happens to her body.
*Counselling is offered before and after an abortion.
*The father has no rights over the unborn baby.
*You might wanna look up the 1967 (as ammended 1990) abortion act to see what reasons are allowed for an abortion.
*Abortion is only allowed after 24 weeks if the baby is severely handicapped and would have no quality of life.
*Pro choice groups say that a woman should have the right to choose what happens to her own body, and that bringing an unwanted child into the world would not be fair on that child. They also say it wouldn't be fair on child or parent if there wasn't the finicial means to care for them both. They also say a zygote/embryo/fetus is a 'thing' and not alive until it is born.
*Pro life groups say that life begins at the moment of conception. They say that abortion is wrong because it is murder.
*Abortion has to be agreed to by two doctors before it can take place.
*Abortion is NOT available on demand in the UK - see above point.

Well, first decide which side you are on. The point of a persuasive is to be opinionated. Then, gather facts, studies, articles, and websites about abortion. This should not be hard. Google is your best friend. Find as many things to support your side as possible and then present these facts in an original and coherant fashion. (ie the ESSAY)

abortions are murder. just because the baby is still inside the womb or mother, doesn't mean that it is not living. i believe that abortions should be outlawed totally. if people don't want kids, don't have sex. that is how it is. there is absolutely nothing good about abortions. some people think they are good because the control the population growth, but what about the thousands that die each day. doesn't that controll it too? you are breaking the law if you have an abortion, whether you believe in the Ten Commandments or not, it is still against the law to murder someone else. every person, baby or not, deserves life. there is no reason to steal someone's life away jut beacuse you don't want to take responsibility for your own actions. bottom line...if you get an abortion, you are a murderer. and that thought should haunt you till you die of natural causes.

ok. personally, i think abortion is a horrible thing. if it's wrong to kill a baby who's 1 week old, what makes it okay to kill a baby just because it hasn't been born yet? in certain situations, such as rape, it may be okay. still, i think it's totally wrong to get pregnant and then just kill the baby...then that makes it seem like a girl can get pregnant whenever she wants and not worry about having the responsibilities of raising a child and do it over and over and over again.i totally agree with thug girl's advice/answer. but still, i think you should put mainly YOUR opinion about this. if you need any more info, just do a google search on "opinions on abortions" or " are abortions right?" or simply "abortions". or you can just ask friends and family what they think, but i hope i helped! ♥ MaRi ♥

In some ways im for abortion cause i think if its going to cause death anyways then abortion is a good idea.. but thats the only reason why i think abortion is okay.. I think that abortion is agood thing because its a living person and thats murder.. and i dont think it should be legal for mothers to kill a baby jus cause they made the mistake of having sex and its not the childs fault.. i think if they dont want the child they should jus put it up for adoption.. I answered a question earlier about my opinion on abortion, so I'll just paste it again.
I am pro-life. I feel that once the baby is in a women's womb, it is a living person. The baby has no choice as to whether or not it can live. I mean, at least have the baby and give it up for adoption, or (in MA anyways), they have something called "Safe Haven" (sp?). It allows you to bring your baby to a hospital, fire station, or police station without being charged. It's for the better of the baby, and it allows the baby to live. The ONLY way I am against it is if the doctor's know the baby is going to have birth effects (ex: down syndrome). The reason I think that is because I don't feel too many people would adopt a baby like that. Not necessarily because they're different, but because they take A LOT of work to take care of them. Somebody always has to watch over them in their life. I hope that made sense.

I am for abortion. Sure it's killing but nobody's stopping euthenasia. Or the death penalty, so suck it up whiners. And the birth control pill has a 2% chance of failure. Why should people be forced to have the baby that they took the precautions for. And mother's die when giving birth. Why should people have to put their lives at risk just because of a baby. And financial difficulty. Adoption costs money. Giving birth costs money. Abortion is more cost efficient than all of the ways that people bring up instead of having one. And if everyone keeps saying it's murder, it's murder. I ask them, what are you doing about the genecide in Rowanda? That's murder and you aren't doing anything about it. The whole US isn't.

Abortions are HORRIBLE unless under certain circumstances. I think that the ONLY valid reason to kill a growing baby is a rape case. If you voluntarily have sex, then its your fault your pregnant. There is no other excuse for having an abortion. To me, its murder. The child is a human whether its a few days along or a few months along. Abortion is just plain wrong!

ok heres what you do, start out your essay with "killing a living breathing feeling human being is wrong" then go into how feeling doesnt happen until the second trimester, and how breathing not only doenst happen until birth, but it doesnt happen until the baby is spanked by the docter to get his/her lungs working.

ok i am for abortion.. for one reason and that is rape. First of all, men should have no say in abortion because they do not know what a woman goes through. We take the pain and all they get is the pleasure. If a huge ugly monsterous 40 year old man rapes a 12 year old girl.. that is not fair for that young girl to go through the terrifying 9 month period. It wasnt her fault. The baby inside of her doesnt even have feelings or anything, its barely even a human life. Think about it. Hope this helped

I think that abortion is ok in some cases. for exaple if somebody has been raped. I don't think it's right when somebody has sex but fails to take precautions. That is selfish. There are so many forms of contracetion today but people choose not to use them. If they used them people wouldn't b discussing this topic. Only in extreme cases like the one mentioned above.

ok my personel opinion on abortion is i think that you are killing a human being that isn't born yet that is taking away a life people say you should have a second chance for your wrong decision !!!no you made that decision live with it live up to your mistakes also half of the people who have had a abortion regret it afterwards!!!!!!!now i think it is a diffrent situation if you got raped!!!but that is a different story.
