Question Posted Sunday March 6 2005, 7:18 pm

Hey , I have a question. I have this like lump sort of thing inside of my breast. I'm not sure what it is. I don't think that it is breast cancer.. but I really don't know what else it could be. Help please! I'm freaked out.

P.S. I'm 13.

that's completely normal, you're still qrowing and that may happen from time to time, if it lasts more than about a month, talk to your doctor. Hope I helped. -Anq3L

Hey

Thats not good...it is not really possible to have breast cancer at 13. But there is a FAIR chance of developing it. I would go get a mamogram and check REGUARDLESS. You will be sooo happy that you did, because knowing is better than not knowing :)
Hope I helped and GODD LUCK!

As most people have mentioned, the chances of it being cancer are pretty slim. It's possible, but not likely.

Women's breasts have a few main parts. The nipple and aureola are obvious. Then there's the fatty tissue. There's also a mammary gland in each breast. That's the part of you that will produce milk if you ever become pregnant. It's much firmer than the fat that surrounds it, and can be lumpy itself. If the "lump sort of thing" is half the size or your breast or more, you've probably just noticed your mammary gland.

Unless cost is a problem, go to a doctor anyway. It may be a little embarrassing if it really is just your mammary gland, but really, the doctor knows that most people have little to no education about their bodies. If your hesitant, ask me about the time I discovered my cervix. I was embarrassed, and the poor doctor somehow managed not to laugh at me. But I'm glad I went in and found out.

For serious, you should check your breast three times a day, for 3 or 4 days, especially right after you get out/when you're in the shower. If you still feel the lump, have your mum take you to the doctor ASAP. You should just be growing in the breast area, it could be nothing to worry about. Hope I helped.

At age 13. its not likely to be any tumor. Most likely they are lymphs nodes. But definetly have it check out by your doctor to be safe.

If it's around time for your period to start, or you're on your period sometimes your breasts get lumpmy. If it doesnt go away for awhile... I'd get it checked out by your doctor. If you're really nervous about it ask your mom, aunt, or another trusted adult. Hope I helped!

MummuM answered Sunday March 6 2005, 10:15 pm:
You don't have to worry about it being breast cancer, because you're only 13. A lot of teens do get lumps in their breast because they're growing. If you're really worried about this, you could always go to the doctor to see for sure. Or you can ask your mom, she'll know, since she's a girl and probably had this problem.

You are too young to have breast cancer...women should only worry about that when their in their 20's. Just ask your mom and/or go to the doctor if your that concerned!

I don't know what it could be either. You should tell your mom and have her take you to the doctor to get it checked out. You need to find out what it is and make sure it isn't something serious.
