soccerplayer6 answered Tuesday December 14 2004, 7:59 pm: Well, think about it this way. I do think your whole class is going to be doing the monolouge. So everybody is going to be nervous. You won't be the only one. So you really don't have anything to be nervous about. [ soccerplayer6's advice column | Ask soccerplayer6 A Question ]

Siren_Cytherea answered Monday December 13 2004, 12:21 am: Memorize it first, line by line. Say it first without doing other things, then say it while brushing your hair, in the shower, etc...Then once you know it well forwards, say it line by line backwards. When you can do that fairly smoothly, you know it. If you know it so well, you have no reason to worry about forgetting it, which gives you no reason to freeze. This is, by the way, what I did when I had to memorize a monologue in two days for an audition. I learned it backwards and forwards. Just be confident, once you know it, that you know it. Nothing can make you forget it, you can say it in your sleep! Be confident that you know it, and you will. That's a trick to learning music, too. Sing it once and see how much you can do from memory. It's amazing how fast you learn and how much you learn. I hope this helps!

Farren answered Sunday December 12 2004, 2:35 pm: Say it in front of your family first, or friends. If you can do it in front of family and friends, you shouldn't worry about what people you don't associate with think about it.
Anyway, I'll pray for you hun.

jenymca answered Sunday December 12 2004, 8:32 am: When your in front of the class, look at one of your good friends. Like FOCUS on HER. Don't think of anything funny, believe me. One time I was up in front of the class looking at my one friend thinking of something funny and started laughing. I couldnt stop because every time I started to go again I'd laugh. I failed that oral presentation...but anyway, don't spaz. You know most of these people in your class so it's not like strangers. If looking at a friend makes you laughing, look at the teacher. Just focus on something so you won't see the rest of the class. [ jenymca's advice column | Ask jenymca A Question ]
theblondeone989 answered Sunday December 12 2004, 12:50 am: Try and be one of the first people to go--if your class is anything like any of mine, half the kids in the class will be stressing over THEIR turn and not even paying much attention to you, lol. It's always a comforting thought, right? Good luck! [ theblondeone989's advice column | Ask theblondeone989 A Question ]
dancinqueen08 answered Saturday December 11 2004, 11:50 pm: Just relax. As long as you'ver memorized the monologue, you'll do well. Remember that everyone else has to do a monologue too and they are just as nervous. [ dancinqueen08's advice column | Ask dancinqueen08 A Question ]

l0stiNth0uGht020 answered Saturday December 11 2004, 10:17 pm: Get really comfortable saying it - memorize it really well, and then is there one person in your class you can look at and say it to? Or you could focus on the wall? Or, if worse comes to worst, you could picture everyone in their underwear;-). [ l0stiNth0uGht020's advice column | Ask l0stiNth0uGht020 A Question ]

LoLo2454 answered Saturday December 11 2004, 9:11 pm: Hi sweetie, im an actress and i get like that all the time. Here's what i do...take your nervousness and focus it into energy, then use that energy. and i know what you are thinking...easier said than done, right? Well, if you can't do that then just Take several deep breaths and focus on how hard you worked and how much you diserve to do well on it. Dont worry about it, because all of the other 36 people are thinking the same thing you are. Hope i helped! Break a leg! :)
Karen answered Saturday December 11 2004, 9:04 pm: Hey don't worry, it's alright to be nervous! I used to have stage fright and I overcomed it by knowing that no one is going to laugh at me just because I mess up! Everyone messes up! Pretend no one is watching you! Just go up there and do it! Imagine doing your monologue in front of a bunch of people? Now that's scary! Just be confident! Hope I helped :)

xluvinux answered Saturday December 11 2004, 8:05 pm: Yep, it's normal to be nervous. Just think, no one is going to laugh at you or anything if you mess up. Practice in front of the mirror and your family or friends. Be clear and project your voice. If you sound confident, you'll feel more confident too. Keep practicing! Right now you're afraid of doing bad, but once you start presenting it you'll see it's not so bad. Sometimes if people in my class mess up, they'll make a joke about it and people laugh it off. If the sight of your classmates make you feel nervous, look right above them at the back wall. That way they think you're looking at them but only you know you aren't. It will be fine! Good luck =)

Cath answered Saturday December 11 2004, 7:58 pm: Hi Sweetie,
Are you the only one who is doing it? If you are not the only one do not worry... you are not the only one freaking out. If you ARE the only one or one of the only ones doing it... practice. Maybe even recite it in public. Once you stop being emberrased that you're reciting something in public and starngers walking by look at you like you are crazy... you'll be ready to recite it in front of class. ...Or imagine everyone in their underwear. I've never done this method but... one day I will, l.o.l. What I did when giving speeches was looked down at my paper when I felt really nervous and look up at the crowd as if they weren't people ... as if I was just following procedures.
Hope someone helped. My best wishes! ~Blessed Be... [ Cath's advice column | Ask Cath A Question ]
x0x_surfergirl_x0x answered Saturday December 11 2004, 7:56 pm: Hey hunny,
If acting isn't your thing don't worry about it. It isn't for a lot of people. Just get out there and pretend no one is in the room. If you forget your lines or mess up just keep going. Just show to everyone you are not intimidated and show that you are confident :)
Hope I helped
