My boyfriend and I just had sex for the first time..He took my virginity. It was unprotected and Im not sure if he pulled out or not. We were both a little drunk. I dont regret it. Anyway, I was told that you shouldn't have unprotected sex for 15 days after your last period ended. Its only been 10 days. Im a little worried that, well basically, I could become pregnant. Im not sure if the 15 day thing is true. Im going to the health clinic in a couple days to get on birth control and they always give you a pregnancy test. I want to know if I should be worried about this or not and if the 15 day thing is true. Hurry..this has me scared. Thanks.
MoonFisher answered Wednesday September 15 2004, 2:38 pm: The 15 day "thing" is true in theory. Most women ovulate (release an egg) 14 days after their last period BEGAN and it dies in 12 hours. This is, however, not a means of birth control AT ALL. Not all women go 14 days. Actually, most DON'T, 14 days is just the average. Some women ovulate anywhere from 7-21 days after their period. You need to use birth control, and I really recommend condoms, as they prevent the spread of STD's. My husband and I used condoms for 6 years of dating with no accidents. We got married, tossed out the condoms, and it only took me ONE MONTH to get pregnant. Moral of the story: Condoms, when worn correctly, are excellent! Do not use the timing method, please, unless you want an accident! You need to tell the clinic about your activity. It may still be too early to determine whether or not you are pregnant, but if you are, you should not be on the pill, unless you plan to abort. The pill can cause serious harm to an unborn fetus.
girdy_goo15 answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 9:02 pm: you can get pregnant anytime. it doesn't matter about no 15 days. and yea u could be pregnant. u should neva have unprotected sex unless your ready for the possibility of motherhood. but birthcontroll isn't 100% effective either. so you should have both. and a penis always has cum on it. so therefore it doesnt' matter if he pulled out or not. alisonmarie answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 6:35 am: Buy a calander. Now, circle the day each time you get your period. Figure out how long your average cycle is - say, 28 days.
If that's the case, you'll ovulate around day 14, which is you most fertile time. Having sex a day or so before ovulation is also highly likely to get you pregnant. While this window is the MOST fertile time, you can also get pregnant during any stage of your cycle.
In addition to getting a pregnancy test - and you'll need to tell them when you had sex, otherwise the test could give a false negative - you'll also want to be tested for STDs. Condoms AND birth control are the safest way to have sex. [ alisonmarie's advice column | Ask alisonmarie A Question ]
Sunshine answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 5:15 am: The 15 day thing is not true, you can get pregnant anytime. I know a few girls who have gotten pregnant while practicing the "pull out" method. You definitely have a reason to worry. [ Sunshine's advice column | Ask Sunshine A Question ]

And if you were scared that you were going to become pregnant, maybe you should have used a condom in the first place. [ juicyfruit's advice column | Ask juicyfruit A Question ]

runawaygirl answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 12:00 am: you can get pregnant anytime, even on your period. If you're not pregnant this time, be greatful and buy some protection. If your not responsible enough to be a parent, then maybe you should't be having sex at all. [ runawaygirl's advice column | Ask runawaygirl A Question ]
Sherry answered Monday August 30 2004, 11:59 pm: It doesnt matter about the 10 day-15 day thing..you have unprotected sex, you have a chance to become pregnant..soo good luck when u take the test. [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
MFS answered Monday August 30 2004, 11:58 pm: ANY sex without protection puts you at risk of getting pregnatnt... those number of days people quote - that's not real. I'm not kidding... not real at all. Every girl ovulates at a different time from the onset or end of her period. "15 days" doesn't mean shit, it isn't reliable. You should be scared because what you did was not smart. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
