My name is Laura and I'm 28 years old. I live in Illinois and work as a licensed veterinary technician. I am a runner, bookworm and obviously, an animal lover.

I've been on this site since '05. I take hiatuses, but I'm never gone for good. I enjoy giving advice and I've made such lovely friends on this site that I couldn't imagine giving it up!

advice

my friend is always going around telling boys i like them or im obsessed. one time she did it and tried to blame it on my other friend. i dont know if i should still be her friend or not? its real annoying, but i dont have many other friends.

We aren't you, and can't make this decision for you. Just sit down and think about it, do you have more good times than bad? Do you like having her as a friend? Is her friendship worth having her tell random boys you like them?

If the friendship IS worth it, talk to her. Tell her you don't like when she tells guys these things, and you're getting sick of it. Let her know you want to be friends, but if she keeps it up you might reconsider.

so there was this video on waxing eybrows where they had this machine do something it was like a laser so i have some questions....do u just walk in they put wax on, take it off, then walk out or is there mor too it??Does it hurt ur first time???is there a way to make it less painful????

When I got my eyebrows waxed, all they did was put the wax on, put a strip over it, and then pull it off. It didn't hurt THAT bad. I mean, you feel it no doubt, but it wasn't pain worth screaming or crying over =]

When you go to get yours done, just tell the stylist it's your first time. Ask her to be as gentle as she can possibly be and you'll be fine.

Help! How do i fix it?

I have split ends on the whole bottom layer.

I wash it every day. Somtimes every other day.

I excersize for an hour a day. (Dancing. A really intense class)

I drink a bottle of water a day, somtimes two, plus a whole cup of ice.

I eat a bowl of honey nut cheroes & life cereal with milk every morning. Then a bagel for lunch with gatorade. & for dinner ill usually have rice with an orange or soy beans.

Is it my diet? I use a good shampoo & conditioner, the Lanza line.

I dont use any heat stylers.

I use a leave in conditioner somtimes on wet hair.

& somtimes ill use spray on gel. Not too much but enough to get a curl.

My hair somtimes gets split ends but its usually after ironing if i dont wash it for 3 days.

I just got a haircut before summer started! Like half an inch.

Do you straighten/blowdry/curl your hair a lot? If so, that can be a reason your hair is damaged. Also, like the other columnist said, summer is a bad time for hair. Try cutting off the split ends and blowdrying or whatever it less.

i know this might sound weird & / orr stalkerish, but i love looking at facebook pics of girls' inside their bedrooms to get some inspiration for my own bedroom.

You can try websites like Sears and stuff that sell bedding? Or, you can try photobucket and type in "bedrooms" or something.

every time i cry alot before i go to sleep in the morning my eyes are extremely puffy.they stay puffy for a couple of hours.is there anything i could do or put on them that will make my eyes not be puffy.thanks!

Maybe you shouldn't cry yourself to sleep =[

But, to help:
Cucumber slices are supposed to help reduce puffiness. Also, putting a spoon in the freezer, and then laying it on the puffy part of your eyes.

OK so i just graduated 8th grade and am going into my freshmen year. I did cheerleading when I was 7 up to when i was 12. I was the best on my team.
I have been having practices at the HS I'm going into and I don't feel like I'm good enough.
The other girls can do so much more than me. I was a flyer all my life and I can't do half the stunts that they do.

I can't get my jumps high enough and I don't know why.
Tryouts are right around the corner and I want more than anything to make the team.

Help?!?!?! please!!!

All you can do is try your best. Just practice, and BE CONFIDENT!

If the coaches see a nervous girl who doesn't believe in herself, they won't even give you half as good a chance as the girl who walks in confidently, believing in herself.

So keep practicing, and believe in yourself. Say to yourself, "I can do this!", and you'll look a lot better than if you're saying something along the lines of, "That jump was horrible." or "This is going to be bad."

I agree with the columnist below, your friends are really rude if they're saying disrespectful things like that. Just ignore their stupid comments or tell them to cut it out.

That being said, have you tried talking to your mom? Ask her if she can make your curfew just a little later. But just remember, she's your mom, she makes the rules. You're the child, and you follow them. She's only looking our for you and trying to figure out what's best for you, she's not trying to destroy your social life.

I don't even think she can legally make it much later, though. I know here, the curfew for anybody under 18 is 10:00. I don't know where you live, but make sure to check up on that or you could get into some serious trouble.

I have a boyfriend, and I really really love him, but whenever we kiss, its like I dont feel anything. I would rather just be with him and close to him. I like feeling his arms around me rather than kissing. It's not that either of us are bad at it, and he likes it, but I just dont that much. What the heck is wrong with me??

I don't think anything is wrong with you. Sometimes, the attraction just isn't there, and there's not really anything you can do about it.

If you don't really like kissing your boyfriend, tell him. Don't tell him you don't want to ever kiss him again or anything, because I'm sure that's not what you want. Just explain to him you like it better when you're just sitting together and he has his arms around you. There's nothing wrong with that =]

I was the girl who wrote earlier asking for help on how to get along better with my mom.

This morning we got in a fight over a lunch box, a stupid lunch box. Now she told me she wishes I were never born her child.

Its so hard to stay in this house with someone that would say something like that to you.
I don't know what to do. My dad won't listen either.

Have you tried talking to another family member? Like a grandmother, or an uncle, or something? I really don't know what else you can do besides ask for help.

Maybe if other family members won't help, go to a friend's parent or another adult you trust. Tell them that you cannot live with your mother any more, but nobody will help you.

Don't be afraid to ask for help from a parent's mom or somebody who is not a family member, either. If you need help, ask for it.

Okay i hate to be rude but i have a question. okay so I was just helpin people like I do and I thought I was doing everything write. but when I woke up this morning i found out otherwise! I got this message from who knows who! saying that if i kept riting short answers then I would be baned from this site. but the thing is i rite some extremely long ones sometimes and some really short ones justt to boost confidence. but i think that who ever this person is shouldn't think that way.

I think that any bit of advise helps with there questions and confidence. I guess what im asking is if anyone agrees with me. and if you dont can you shed some light on what they mean. because honestly i think everthing helps. but maybe thats just me.

First of all, whomever sent you the warning meant NO harm and is just trying to help make the site better. They don't mean to offend you or anything, they're just trying to make the site the best it can be.

As far as your short answers go, just add more. Instead of a simple "Yes" or "No", explain you're reasoning behind WHY you feel how you feel.

If you're a new columnist, things will get better with time. I used to write short answers to, but now, 3 years later I answer with some pretty long ones! haha.

I'm going to recommend you try Aveeno. It's a lotion that has Oatmeal in it, and I use it for my Eczema. It is the best lotion I've used, and I think it will help your dry skin.

well i was just wondering how like everyone says that if you don't fight or have alot of bad times then its not a real relationship? but like i really like this guy, we're not technically dating but we both really like each other and i think he's gonna ask me out soon the next time we hang out, but we don't fight at all and we have so much fun together but we've never been in a fight yet. so my question is, is that normal? does it mean our relationship won't last because its not real? i kinda want a fight to come though because i want to see if he will still stay with me but i dont wanna like pick a fight, what should i do? thankss

It's all a matter of personal opinion. I myself don't necessarily agree with it, but I don't completely disagree either.

It's kind of hard to explain how I feel about it, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to read my rambling anyways ;]

My best advice: If you're in a relationship and YOU are comfortable with it, don't let others opinions bother you. Don't pick fights just because they don't happen by themselves. If you're in a happy relationship, leave it that way.
