I think that I need a psychiatrist. I know that I do, I feel very depressed and I cut myself. My mom sees a psychiatrist. I'm just afraid of asking my mom and dad (they are divorced, so I can't sit them down together) if I can go to a therapist. I was wondering of anyone knew any ways of bringing it up or any suggestions of how to talk about it. I'm uncomfortable bringing it up and I really don't want my parents to know how depressed and frightend I feel. If you have any ideas I would really appreciate it. (link)
I would walk downstairs, take a deep breath, and say, "Mom, I think I need to see a psychiatrist." Most likely, she will understand ne be glad you realized that you need help. However, if you have a problem doing that and think it would be easier to say it first to another trusted adult (hobby instructor, teacher, guidance counselor, best friend's mom), you should do that. Then they can tell your mom. Eventually, you will have to talk to your parents though. Oh and I'm glad you realized that you should get help and that there is help out tehre! Good for you!

Ok I am trying to eat healthier (cutting down on sweets...nothing extreme) but my family always has candy in the house, where it is hard not to grab some as you walk by the cabinet. Also, my parents love to treat us to ice cream, and bring home ymmuy baked goods, and i just have a hard time declining them. How can I gain more self control over eating sweets? (link)
My sister and mom are like that, but, me, I need to eat. (as in I'm underweight) What we do is I get sweets and stuff and either keep them in my room or my mom hides them in a place away from everyone else. It helps me because I can still eat them, but it also helps my family because they can't. The only time we have sweets out in dishes and stuff is around holidays. Also, maybe you could try asking your parents to only bring home sweets once or twice a week. Then, not only will you not have as much, you will enjoy it even more. However, make sure you still eat the same amount. Try not to splurge on those one or two days.

My best friend spends WAY too much time with her bf and whenever I try to tell her she gets mad and calls me selfish. She does EVERYTHING with him now and I think she likes him more than me. What can I do? (link)
No matter what happens with this boy, she will always be your best friend (remember, forever never ends). You are her BEST FRIEND and he is her BOY FRIEND. They do stuff together that you wouldn't do with her (kiss, hold hands, etc.) but at the same time, you two do stuff together that she would never do with him (gossip, paint your nails, do each other's hair). After all, if she didn't have you, she wouldn't have anyone to obsess about him to. Also, remember that one day, sooner or later, they will break up (most likely). She's going to need somebody to cry on their shoulder, and chances are she'll be crawling back to you. Let her, forgive her, give her another chance. I was/am going through this with my best friend so I know how it feels.

Well, I love horseback riding and I loove my horses to death. Well, the thing is they aren't really "my" horses but I lease both of them. (I ride/used to lease/love others but its mostly these two who I love the most). My trainer is having me show her mare this summer and I've been leasing her mare since September. We have a wicked strong bond and have come so far. However, the reason I started leasing her was because the pony I was supposed to lease was lame for almost the entire time I was leasing my mare up to the present time. We are pretty sure he's going to be better by the summer, and this summer I was supposed to go to our shows with him. He's so cute and funny and I love him so much. I know I can probably still ride both but how do I decide which one I want to concentrate on? (link)
I'll try to make myself clearer...I can still ride both but the one I'm not leasing, I'll just have a lesson on every now and then. I can't lease both so I need to decide which one I want to lease. I can/will always love them equally but it's impossible to ride them equally.

how do you get guys to notice you more? i mean i'm not ugly but i dont think i'm "hott" so what should i do? i think i have a nice personality...but idk. (link)
Don't wait for the guys to come talk to you. Go up to the guys, or a guy, with a smile and say "Hi!" They can't not notice such a friendly greeting.

heyy guys well im 16/f if you needed to know that and not to sound conceited or anything but everyone always tells me how pretty/gorgeous i am! well my friends and all the girls. except no guys have called me beautful/hott/cute or anything and then i am SOOO self-concsious of my nose..its like sooo big! and i dont know what to do..i know there isnt much to dobecause i dont want to get plastic surgery or anything! whenever i take pictures thats all i see--my nose and its so embarassing! also my smile..i hate it my mouth is SOO small so my smile is all messed up and you cant even see much of my teeth i dont know..im just so jealous of many girls lately..and i know thats normal but i just dont know what to do anymore : (link)
The truth of the matter is when other people look at you (even they are people worth associating with) they don't say "Look at her nose! It is sooo big!". They see you inside. When your friends look at you they probably say "there's one funny, smart, awesome girl who I can tell anything to." Nobody is perfect and everyone has something they hate about themselves. You just have to learn to focus of the positive things.

Should i tell my bestfriend about my period? I'm not sure. We tell each pther every one of our secrets (link)
If you want to tell her, then go for it. Chances are if she hasnt gotten it yet, she will get it soon. Everybody gets in (well, girls) and it's nothing to be ashamed of. I know the exact day when all of my best friends got theirs (haha, they range from Christmas Eve to their birthdays to just random days) and al of their stories, but only one of them told me about it on the fay it actually happened. I'd say, if you want to tell her, go for it, but everyone is entitled to keeping a few secrets to themselves, even away from their best friends in the world.

Well, a few weeks ago, my best friend's boyfriend (also a really, really close friend of mine) was admitted into the hospital after somehow getting his head stuck in the stair banister and almost sufficating to death. He was in a coma and we didn't know if he'd ever wake up. He did (thank god!) but he is still at the hospital because he doesn't remember how he did it so they have to make sure he didn't do it to himself. Almost all of our other close friends have already seen him (my bff, my "should be boyfriend", and their other best friend), except for me. I miss this boy sooo much, but while its heard for me, it's even harder for my best friend and his best friend (my "should be"). How do I stay strong for them when they need me the most while I'm crying inside? (link)
I haven't been to see him (I've talked to him on the phone and stuff) because everytime they go they plan it too late and I'm already busy. I know you may thik that sounds awful that I think I have "better things to do" but its kinda hard to cancel a horse show the day before.

Ok this story may take a little while...
My best friend's has a boyfriend and about a month ago she found out that one of our other friends liked her. Even though she didnt like him somehow they ended up talkin more and they always got upset cuz somehow the subject of him liking her always came up. Well through their fights and talks, they have become like best friends. They see things the same as each other or something. i felt jealous that my best friend was gettin stolen away so i confronted her about it, and she told me that it went her bf, me, then this other guy on her list of friends and she wasnt just sayin that cuz she was talkin to me. but it feels like she confides more in him, and she talks to him a lot. sometimes it almost seems like shes blowing me off, in general, not just for him. every time i try talkin to her about it it always comes out wrong and i end up sounding mega possesive and like im making a mountain out of a molehill and i hate it. it seems like my best friend is slipping away and theirs nothing i can do about. what do i do? and please, if theres anything you can say that doesnt just involve "talking about it to her" that wud be even better, although i would take anything i can get (link)
Oh man, I have a similiar problem, but now it's getting better. Here is what I did...

1. JUST IN CASE! Make friends with other people and become even closer to your other friends. That way IF your friendship wasn't meant to be you won't be completely lonely.

2. Talk to her about life, your friends, ask her about her friends, and ask her to do stuff just the both of you.

3. Eventually, you will have to talk about it with her or else you will know that things were really solved. When you do this say something like, "It hurts when you tell him everything and don't tell me, your supposed best friend." She might not even realize she's doing it.

Good luck!

Age 14/f. There's this kid who lives down the street that I have a huge crush on. He's a year younger, which is fine with me. The only problem is that we are two grades apart. I am a freshman in high school and he is only in seventh grade. When I moved, something got mixed up with the cutoff dates and I am now a very young freshman (or a very old eighth grader.) We are a year apart, but as far as anyone else knows, it's actually two years. Do you think it's worth it to go after him? Or should I give up and look elsewhere? (If it makes a difference, he's still taller than I am by about an inch.) (link)
I'd say totally go for it. One year isn't that bad and so what if everybody else thinks it's two years? Who cares what they think? If you really like him and he likes you back, go out, have fun, and just be yourselves.

ok well i was watching rent and rosario darson or w.e. her name is really skinny and i was wondering if anyone knows how she stays skinny because i really want to lose weight, and im running and doing this fitness thing for your stomach and it works [the stomach thing] and i was just wondering some exercizes for my legs, besides running.

ill rate 5's (link)
The truth of the matter is if she is really that skinny (I havew yet to see Rent) she either has an eating disorder or naturally has a really fast motabolism. (sorry, I can't spell) If it's the first one, then that is not something you want at all. If you are really considered about it, go to your doctors. She will know what is best for you, and that might not be what is best for everybody else.

My room is very plain.
let me give yu an idea what it looks like

blue walls, wood floor a larg wodden cabinet for my tv and computor, a pretty good size book shelf. wooden drawers for my cloths and 2 plastic drawers. Also I have a boxing bag. I get really depressed in my room because it seeems so depressing to me

what can I do to my room to make it look nicer and happyer? (link)
What do you love? Is it your cat, dog, horse, friends? Do you absolutely love Broadway or skate boarding? Do you have alot of ribbons or trophies?

Here's what I did to spruce my room up...

1. Hung pictures of my horses in a cool way for those times I can't see them but have to be reminded of the best things in my life.

2. Hung my show ribbons around my walls to remind me that I can do something well enough to earn me them.

3. Cut out posters of horses from magazines and hung them on the oposite wall from the pictures of my horses.

4. Decked out my bullentin board with cool things my friends have given me, letters with inside jokes, funniest birthday cards, and pictures of us hanging out.

You can also get those cool beads for your door, funky lights (lava lambs, etc.), or get a cool bean bag chair.

One of my friends has another friend whose mom loves painting. Together they drew a scene (surfing) on one of her walls and painted it with nice colors.

When you`re friend is mad @ you, is it best to say sorry // talk to them online, in person 0r does it matter? also is it best to give them time to cool down so they`re not as mad or what .. i will rate for answers. anything`s useful. thanks! (link)
Online it has a greater chance of being tooken the wrong way. In person you can see the other's body language, and yours will probably convey that you are really truely sorry. You have a better chance of being forgiven and keeping the friendship. If it is really serious, let them cool down for at least a day. Otherwise they will have all the feelings still inside them and might end up just making it worse. If it's over something smaller, then right after it happens might be the right time. It's different with different situations.

I have really dark brown hair, its almost black.
What color should I consider dying it?
Not blonde, I'm asian, & I really blah dont think thatd look too neat.
thanks.

I have an Asian friend who did the whole tinted red thing and it looks really good! I'd go with that!

I've been friends with this girl since the beginning of 8th grade - we're in 9th now. She's friends with most of the same people as me and we're pretty close. Last year she did what she wanted to do and didn't really care what others thought. Now, she's started copying my sayings, my interests, all of my music, my books, absolutely EVERYTHING. And also, one of our other friends got her hair cut short a bit ago and the copying girl just went out and chopped all of her hair off too. This annoyed both me and the girl who got her hair chopped off first.

I've tried everything - ignoring it, not talking about my interests, asking people for advice - but nothing works. I need to make her realize that she needs her own identity - not mine and everyone else's. Is there a way to confront her non-threateningly? What should I do? (link)
Make sure you let her know that you value her own style because she is her own person. She doesn't have to be like everyone else in order to be liked. I had a friend (now my best friend) who would copy everything everyone else did/said/wore/etc last year. This year she realized that she is her own person and she shouldn't care what others think. If she wants to wear a poodle skirt over jeans with a neon green sweater, she will because she knows we are all still going love her. Just make sure this person feels like her own person and that she should never give that up for the world.

im really depressed and i take medication but still suicidal and i cut
i know cutting is bad and can kill you but i really want to stop
ive asked other people who have cutted but their advise wasnt so great
i just want to ask how can i stop?? (link)
Tell a close friend and have a key word for "I fel like cutting." Make it something funny and random like toilet paper or something. When you are about to cut call your friend and say it and she will tell hyou how much she cares about you. Many times that's all you need to hear. Another thing you can do is wear a rubber band that says either names of people who really care about you or things you are especially good at (positive things) or both. When you snap it, if you have to snap it, think about those things. Also, get whatever you use to cut out of the house. Give all your knives, rasors, etc. to your friends until you can handle having them. Ice also helps. Instead of cutting, put ice on your bare skin. It will numb you and hurt you but won't actually do any damage in the long run.

(My friend did a project on this for health)

Okay this boy i've asked him if he liked me he said yea kind of that sort of thing so i asked would you ever go out with me he said oh sure yes but he said u can't or something because of his friends but what i don't get is he went out with this girl who was way shy and quiet and im very energetic and stuff so could his friends be an excuse to him not going out with me????
(link)
Maybe his friend likes you too and he doesn't want to throw his friendship away over a girl. Also, this may sound harsh, but maybe his friends don't like you. Do you have a reputation of cheating or just generally using guys? I'm not saying you do, but I am saying that you could be "one of those girls his friends warned him about".

Here goes...

About three monthes ago I dated this guy called Andi, sorta started to fall for him, but he used me for money and was too emotionally immature, and we broke up. My heart wasnt broken but very bruised.

I did some crazy things on the rebound, dont wanna go into it all,but you all understand what its like I am sure.

But then met this guy called Gerard, I was still hurting over Andi, but instantly liked him, after a week we became partners, we are just so well matched.

He told me recently he loved me, and I had to go back into my past and tell him that I was really hurting after Andi, but that he was the 1 for me and no1 else came close. I told him intially it was a sorta rebound, but after a few days I knew it wasnt, this obviosuly annoys him. As I love him now...

He is annoyed at the fact he was a rebound, even though I told him I knew he was special when we met, and after a few days I knew he wasnt, but he gets annoyed still, although I loved him and wanted to tell the truth. How do I convince him? (link)
Hmmm...this is a toughy. Maybe you should try doing something extra special and romantic for him. Like drive him to his favorite restuarant in the entire world (no matter how far or expensive) and get the waiter/manager to set out candles and have romantic music on. Or you could do something smaller like let him pick the next movie you go see, even if there's something you really wanna see playing. That way at least he'll know that you truely care about him. Good luck!

Hi. I'm not sure if this question should go under this topic or not. But anyways, I'm 13/f and never been kissed. (yeah, I know yall are laughing) I heard that usually on your first kiss that you end up kissing the guys nose/face/ect. anyone have any tips so that won't happen to me? Cause that would be really embarresing. (sorry its such a dumb question) (link)
13 is not a bad age, I wish I had waited that long. All I have to say is don't be embarassed if something weird happens. Most people's first kisses are lame. Maybe you can out your hand behind his head to better feel where his motuh should be.

My first kiss was in 5th grade and we were in my neighbor's basement with my other neighbor. The lights were off and my friend turned them on to see one of my neighbor's lips on mine. Not even sure how they got there. Very awkward.

When i was 6 i was put up for adaption..and i lost touch with all of my brothers and sisters. Well one of my 5 siblings was also put up for adaption after me. I recently found her on myspace and i sent her a message..and im nervous like she was on today and i sent her a message but she dosent answer its like she dosent even care..what should i do??

much lovee
lila (link)
Just give it time and tell her that you are her sister and give ehr information about yourself, like favorite hobby, color, etc. Soon you might find a message that says, "Hey! I'm into acting too! That's so cool!" and it will all kick off from there. She might just be busy and maybe she's off starring in her own TV show or something awesome like that! Also, when did she last update her my space. When I used to have one of those I didn't even look at it for weeks at a time.
