Due to an error that really messed up the site today, I've set up the "give advice" page to operate in "backlog mode" (because, well, we're backlogged). What this means is that instead of just seeing the newest questions first, you're seeing questions with the fewest answers first. After someone answers a question, it gets bumped down. This helps to make sure every question gets answered, and all the questions are answered equally. Questions three days old just aren't shown at all.
I put the site in this mode because we're in an emergency situation, but what do you think of it? Should we have it like this all the time, so questions with no answers are at the top, waiting for you? Or do you think we should go back to the old way, so you always see the newest questions when you click on "give advice"?

I think putting it in this mode for maybe a day or two should be fine... I use the "view questions" mode for scanning the material. But I typically paruse the "Advice Topics" view for looking for things to answer - makes it easier to keep things topical.

does anyone know how to make the salsa dip not as spicy cause we bought extra spicy on accident and its wayy to hott!! do you think its ok to put sugar in it? ok well i hope someone knows how cause my mouth is on fire!!!!! (link)

adding sugar can actually make it hotter... by adding sweetness, it masks the heat of the pepper oils, so you tend to eat more, making the heat that arrives once the sugar flavor is gone even more intense.
You are better off buying a 2nd jar of mild and mixing the two together. If you can't do that, just have lots of cheese, milk, and other fatty things on hand to wash the hot pepper oils out of your mouth because water does NOT rinse out the oils (they are long-chain fatty acids that bind to the pain sensors in your mouth - fats in milk and other dairy CAN rinse it away).

My brother is 19..and he has a friend that is 16 or 17. (I'm 17) i really like his friend...and i cant tell if he feels the same way! he talks to me once in a while on aim...he jokes w/me when he's here, which is like everyday now that its summer. i really dont know what to do!! and also, is it weird that i might be older than him?? oohh and just to add, my brother met his g/f of 4 yrs through me! Has your brother said anything or dropped any hints? Of course, being an older brother, he might intentionally NOT say anything, if you know what I mean ;) Either way, he might be a good place to start.
It might be worth your while to try to "casually" ask the guy out. Try the "Hey, you doing anything Friday night?" approach. That way, he won't feel intimidated with you asking, and you get to see his reaction. Rejection isn't always a bad thing in this either - if he's quick to give an excuse, well, yeah that's bad, but if he's apologetic and explains why he can't do anything, that's a sign that perhaps he'd like to do something.
There are little tricks, to... when talking to him when he's over, try violating his personal space a bit - just enough to be noticed by him but not enough to be obvious to anyone else... if he doesn't seem to mind, well, that's a huge clue (if he does seem to mind, that's not always a negative sign either - he just might be shy).
At worst, you could always just grab the guy by his ears, lick his forehead, and proclaim "I WANT YOU NOW." (ok, maybe not, but you never know... ;) )
Most importantly, remember that flirting is an artform - it is best when subtle. Overplanning will make it feel uncomfortable, whereas no planning will make it feel disjointed.

Dec 31, 2004? Wow... that's... really, really strange. I have no idea why it said that. I'll let spacefem know - between the two of us, hopefully we'll be able to figure it out. Obviously, your account isn't really suspended, as you and I are having this conversation, so I really am baffled by this one.
This weekend is pretty busy, we I might not have a chance to really delve into this until Monday evening, but if I get a free moment, I'll poke around a bit. Anyway, I think you should have received an email that said why your account was suspended. Suspensions typically range from 2-5 days. We've been trying to crack down on people who ask inappropriate things, excessive duplicate questions, general harassment and spamming, etc. Accounts can also be suspended if the advice given to someone else was deemed inappropriate.
Admittedly, this site has gone significantly downhill since it started, but we're trying to keep things on track and clean things up.
If you'd like, send me the name of the account that was suspended, and I'll look into the matter.

hmm... a little bit of tobasco, when applied to things he'll have to grab, can go a long way... just give the sauce plenty of time to dry...
let's see... there's always the saran-wrap on the toilet trick, but that can be messy and gross
slipping very obnoxiously girly perfume into his shampoo is always a good one...
the careful application of makeup while he sleeps... always classic...
or get some really strange clothes, get some music that you'd never, ever listen to, and start talking with an accent that is not typical of you, and try to convince him that this is the new you... it'll at least baffle him for a while.

No two guys are going to look for the same things. Some guys, being the shallow ones, look for only "hawt chicks" because they are immature. Other guys look for someone who is intellectually engaging. Some guys look for girls who are considered sluts, because they think that they'll get some action. Some guys go for "nice girls"...
But there is no one thing that all guys look for. It just isn't that simple. Never has been, either.

When you are older - two years is nothing...
but when you are 13 and 15... two years is a huge difference (generally speaking, of course)
If his friends are pushing him to feel that way, then that is unfair to you. If he was already feeling that, or feeling awkward about your relationship, then that's unfortunately not a good sign.
Not that you exactly want to hear this, but perhaps it would be more wise to try just being good friends for now? As I've said many times, friends are more important in the long run anyway. ;)

Then why are you worried about it? In fact, why do so many worry about sex and what to do when it is clearly something that you are in no way prepared to start having? You're obviously not ready for sex, so stop worrying about it.

Are tampons supposed to hurt? because i hate wearing pads, but tampons hurt sooo bad that i cant even walk some of the time and im a very heavy bleeder so i can wear the small tampons. also does your eating habits have to do with how heavy you bleed? like if i eat healthy food and fruit and stuff will it make me bleed lighter? Regarding the eating habits:
Diet can potentially have an effect on that, but you're better off talking to a doctor about that... in particular an OB/GYN instead of a general practitioner. There are so many factors that can effect your period and how it behaves that I doubt you'll get anthing close to an accurate answer from anyone on this site. Seriously, talk to a doctor about that.
I will not even pretend to be able to tell you about tampons - other than it might have to do with your body shape. Others have given some good advice in this question already on that one.

Yes.
Many such foods contain many oils and fats, that in turn cause your skin to excrete more oils, which combined with dirt, debris, and dead skin cells, leads to skin pore blockage.
Chocolate is particularly bad for causing zits.

hey, i'm kristen! i'm 13 years old and we live in a good town where nothing bad like eva happens. when my mom isn't home she doesn't let me go ride my bike around the good part of my town, or let any of my friends come over when she's not home. my mom never used to work in the summer but this summer she does. so far this summer all i did was go online and play my softball. my brother gets to go to all of his friends houses on our side of the block, but i'm not. he's 11!!! how can i get my parents to be less strict? All jokes aside, I've never understood these parents that let their boys just run amok, yet they try to hide their daughters away from the big-bad old world. I really wish I had an answer for you... hopefully you'll be able to convince them by just being responsible and reliable.
If that doesn't work, then you could try talking to them about it - but the thing here is to be as calm and even tempered as possible, and just ask why it seems that your brother gets free-reign while are you being whisked away from the world. Don't make it a "you're nice to my brother and mean to me!" thing, because you'll lose that fight. Make it a "hey, I've noticed that you let my younger brother do a lot more than you let me do... why is that?" kind of discussion. Be mature about it, be calm about it, and be willing to discuss the issue with your parents, assuming they are willing to listen.

Have you tried simply telling him that you miss your friend? If there was a little something more between the two of you for a while, it might be causing a bit of tension or awkwardness. You should at least tell him flat out that you miss him, regardless of tension or feelings, because he needs to know just how you feel.

I've seen some dogs do this as a new form of play. If your dog isn't seeming playful while acting that way, you might consider a trip to the vet. Otherwise, your dog is just being silly (quite a normal thing to do, really).

Some friends of mine used to put wax over their braces to keep the metal from digging into their lips. The other option is to just keep at it, but give yourself lots of rest and build up your lips' resistance (which is essentially building light callouses on your internal lip lining).
Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THINGS LIKE ANBESOL! My friend Sandy, whom I told not to do this, used Anbesol to numb her lips after playing a lot... then, during rehearsal, because she was unable to feel the pain... well, she mangaged to bite through her lower lip, which made her unable to play for over a week so her lip could heal.

Are you sure you know who suspended your account? Did they list a reason why your account was suspended? There is more than one person who can suspend accounts.
