about

Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?
Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.
I'm a diehard SF Giants fan and also enjoy watching the Sharks and Niners. Addicted to music, especially The Gaslight Anthem. Oh, and my name is Krista. :)

(15/f)
There this guy I've know for a couple of year. We recently switched from our old school for a more advanced program at another school(He was the only other person I knew who transfered and vice versa)We're pretty close friends, so a lot of people were under the impression we were going out, and by a lot, I mean practically everyone we know.

Question 1: What's a good way to answer when people say stuff like "How long have you guys been going out for?" or "You guys make such a cute couple!"... It's incredibly ackward to respond to those o_O Especially since he has somewhat of a fanclub within the female population.

I don't blame them for getting the wrong impression though. For example today at lunch, he was practically sprawled over me while reading a book, and I was reading over his shoulder. And he has nicknames for me that he uses constantly. And many other reasons... The thing is I actually like this guy, and have for quite some time. But he keeps on sending me mixed messages about whether he likes me or not. He switches from staring into my eyes for no particular reason to avoiding me.
Question 2: Any ways of finding out if he likes me in that way, without being too blatantly obvious of course because I AM friends with this guy.

Good grief, this is a rather long question. Thanks in advance :D

Answer 1: Just laugh and say "Oh, we're just friends" or something like that.

Answer 2: It's hard to tell, all guys are different. Maybe ask one of his friends.

17/f. I love to read. I read almost anything really. But right now I'm in to reading the classics(my favorites: Saligner, Bradbury, Steinbeck, Orwell etc.) I just need more titles. Anything under the category 'classics' would be helpful. And also a quick summary-type on what the book is about would be very helpful. Thanks!!!

- Anything by Jane Austen. On first read they seem like an average, light Regency romance, but they actually have a lot of brilliant commentary on politics and social order.
- Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy- the translation done by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky (i bought it at Barnes and Noble, it usually says Oprah's Book Club on it). Absolutely amazing book. I can't even begin to describe it...a very funny, clever book with romance and a good story. First classic book I liked. It's a fairly easy read, too.
- Walden and Civil Disobedience by Henry Thoreau. walden is his essays on two years when he lived in the woods, a mile from all civilization and reflected on simplifying life. That makes it sound boring, but it's actually really good. This is where the quote "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation" comes from. A lot of interesting ideas here. Civil Disobedience is a speech he wrote while in jail for refusing to pay a tax. I liked Walden better, but Civil Disobedience is interesting if you're into politics.

1. I've been looking on the internet for the sims 2, and there is more than 1 disk, and there is an expansion pack, also. Can anyone give me a complete list off all the disk names for the sims 2?

2.And, you know the annoying blur that is over the sims whenever they are naked, well, to me, that is VERY annoying, and i hat it, is there a way to get rid of it??

There are 4 discs in my case- Disk 1, Disk 2, Disk 3, and Disk 4. You need all of them to install the game. There are also a few expansion packs.

I know there's a cheat code to get rid of the blur, try googling "sims 2 cheat codes" and you should find it.

Tonight my mom and I were talking about jewelry and clothes. She said she didnt care if I buy the jewelry, that it is my money and I should spend it the way I like.. Then we started to talk about clothes. And I told her that I want to go clothes shopping and buy some tee-shirts. She said with all the summer and winter clothes you have you dont need any
more clothes. You need an apartment. I told her that the best times to buy clothes is at the end of the season for two reasons one everyone knows (cheaper) and for another no one knows (they keep some clothes to release at the end of the season). I said to her are you saying you dont think I should ever buy clothes and she said when did I ever say that. She then said to me; that I should wait a couple of months to buy clothes after I pay off my charge card. BUT I FEEL AS IF SHE SAYING SHE DOESNT THINK I SHOULD BUY CLOTHES. YOU SEE SOMETIMES WHEN WE GO TO STORES SHE WILL TRY TO TALK ME OUT OF BUYING. MY QUESTION: AM I OVERREACTING AND IF I AM WHY AND IF I AM NOT WHY NOT?

I think your mother is right, you need to buy important things like an apartment first, and then if you have extra money, buy clothes. Your mom did not say you shouldn't ever buy clothes, she said you have enough clothes right now. Paying off your charge card is important. Honestly it sounds to me like you have a spending problem first. She knows you have a problem and you need to stop. Just from your previous questions I know that you tend to buy way too much- 7 of each color of a purse is beyond ridiculous.
You are overreacting. Pay off your charge card (very, very important), start saving for an apartment. Only buy clothes if it is neccessary, not because you want to.

I Know it is not a good idea to repost but I think the way I wrote the original post I did
not write clearly for people to understand what I was trying to ask. So here goes (THE
STORY IS THE SAME: Today at work my friend Ginny (who is thin and 5 feet 6 inches
tall) helped Sharon (a customer who is around 5 feet tall). Sharon told Ginny that Sharon
liked the shoes Ginny is wearing and Ginny has big feet not small feet like Sharon due to
the fact Sharon has to shop for shoes in the kids department. HERE IS WHAT I AM
ADDING: Ginny is scared that in the future Sharon will say oh I like that article of
clothing you are wearing, it is a big size I have to shop in the childrens department.
Everyone tells Ginny this will not happen. KEEP IN MIND GINNY IS A SIZE 6 IN
SHOES AND CLOTHES. MY QUESTION: IS Ginny being fearful for no reason; and
when Sharon comes in how can Ginny avoid Sharon or stop Sharon from saying anything.
Should Ginny just say directly to her; Please lets just keep this professional and not talk
about anything personal, like give compliments or anything of that nature.

Sharon will not say that in the future, in fact Sharon will probably not compliment Ginny again since Ginny responded so badly.
Ginny is being fearful for no reason. If she tries to avoid a customer, she will probably get in trouble at her job. Ginny should instead maybe compliment Sharon to distract her.
Ginny should not say "let's keep this professional" because that will come off as extremely rude.

What is your definition of skinny enough? And when someone says that to you are they implying that you were never skinny or that you were overweight before: Here is the story so you know what I am referring to: STORY: I am thin and A FEW DAYS AGO when I came home from work I changed into a tee-shirt but wore the same pants I wore to work. She asked me as I sat down to eat if I lost weight, and I said no, but this upset me. I said to her that she always tells me I look beautiful. She said you do look beautiful but your pants look bigger. And she told me that I am skinny enough.

She's COMPLIMENTING you. Losing weight has nothing to do with looking beautiful. Pants looking big has nothing to do with losing weight. She's telling you that you are perfect just the way you are, and not to lose any more weight. Thin people don't need to lose weight. Skinny enough means that you look great.

What traits do girls look for in guys? What would your ideal guy be like?

Okay, well all girls are obviously different. Just in general:
- Dresses well
- Honest, but knows when the truth is too harsh (i.e., not saying your gf looks fat)
- Not afraid to make the first move
- Approachable
- Has some manners- no spitting, excessive swearing
- Is fine talking to both girls and guys
- Romantic
-Creative

is there anything you can add to water to flavor it more with out that many calories? oh and that isnt pure sugar?

dont sugest vitamin water cause i used to drink it all the time and i figured out some facts about it, its as bad as drinking soda =/ !!

thank you! cause im going on a all water drink diet for my health, but water getting boreing and not flavorble after a while =]
--ashley

Okay, well like everyone said, Crystal Light on the go packets. Personally I can't stand Propel- it tastes like sugar water.

Try squeezing a lemon into your water, or using one of those little bottles of lemon juice (you can buy them in the produce section of grocery stores, they're usually shaped like a lemon).

Also try a tiny bit (I do mean tiny, only a few drops) of peppermint extract.

Ok another thing with my mom. Last year my Aunt Susie (87 years old - one of my moms sisters) came to stay with us for another aunts 90 birthday bash. As I told you I buy purses for $1.49 to $1.99 that look like $60 or more (strangers tell me they love the purses and cannot believe that I only spent $1.49 to $1.99). My mom said to me; Why dont you give one to your aunt; which I did. But this year I started to think about it and I got mad reason being she was being to free with my possessions. So tonight I confronted her about what she did a year ago (I know it was the past but it still bothered me). And she said; well if I had an 87 year old dying aunt I wouldnt hesitate to give her a purse that I had: I then said to my mom that is her not me. BUT I AM STILL ANGRY BECAUSE I DONT THINK SHE REALIZES THAT I BROUGHT 7 OF EACH COLOR BECAUSE THEY WERE INEXPENSIVE AND WILL LAST ME A LIFE TIME AND THEY ARE CLOSEOUTS AND I CAN NEVER GET THEM AGAIN. I keep thinking how dare she offer my possessions to anyone. It should come from me. I asked her what if Aunt Susie could come down again I am afraid you would do the same thing and she said that she would not knowing how I feel. MY QUESTION: Am I overreacting. (I am very close to all my aunts/auncles and cousins on both my moms and dads side.).

That was last year- a long time ago. You need to move on.

Your mom didn't take one of your purses and give it to your aunt- she asked you to, and you did. It was your choice. Since they were so inexpensive, it shouldn't be a big deal. You really don't need seven of each color, especially if they last you a lifetime. Personally if I find a purse I like, I buy two of my favorite color or maybe 1 of each color I like. Your mom probably won't ask you to do the same thing again. Easier said than done but try not to worry about it.
Yes, you are overreacting. You have tons of extra purses, in fact you have too many. Losing 1 doesn't make a difference

PLEASE KEEP in mind she only said the nasty thing about online advice websites when we were fighting. Three days ago my mom was cranky and
kept snapping at me to the point we had a a tiff. During the course of the fight she said; I
know you ask questions about weight and other things on the computer, these people are
not experts, I see what you do; (But she really does not see because I log out when she
comes near my computer) And of course she and I went back and forth saying nasty things
to one another. (But I like asking and getting advice on Advicenators and other websites
like Advicenators and the advice makes me feel better.) SO MY QUESTION: If you were
me (or even it happened to you) and someone criticizes the people that you get advice
from online how would you handle it? I mean would you ignore, defend it or other (and
tell me what the other is) and why

Your mom is right, seriously. We are not experts her, a lot of people on her are teenaged girls and there are very few if any licensed professionals. You're not going to change her mind, ignore it.
I think the best option for someone like you is to see a licensed professional, however.

Today at work my friend Ginny (who is thin and 5 feet 6 inches tall) helped Sharon (a customer who is around 5 feet tall). Sharon told Ginny that Sharon liked the shoes Ginny is wearing and Ginny has big feet not small feet like Sharon due to the fact Sharon has to shop for shoes in the kids department. MY QUESTION: (1) SHOULD GINNY BE INSULTED; and (2) how can Ginny avoid personal conversations with Sharon?

Ginny should not be insulted. Sharon said she LIKED ginny's shoes. That's a compliment.
Since Sharon has small feet (NOT a good thing), "big" is a compliment. To her, people with big feet can buy nice adult shoes instead of shopping in the kids department.
Ginny needs to learn to deal with Sharon because Sharon is not doing anything wrong. Work isn't supposed to be easy.
Unless Ginny knows for a fact that Sharon says she wears big clothes (it sounds like she doesn't know for sure) she needs to calm down. Perhaps a size 6 is big to Sharon, it is to some people. For instance, a size 6 in expensive designer jeans is often quite large. However, in cheaper clothing a size 6 is small.
Bottom line: it doesn't matter what Sharon thinks. Ginny needs to know for herself that she is thin and doesn't have big feet. (Paris Hilton is a size 11 in shoes, so it's not like it matters.)

Ok tonight at 6PM my friend Joan (who is thin) was having dinner with Katherine (her sister). Katherines friend Francine has terminal cancer. Any way tonight when Joan and Katherine were having dinner Joan asked; How is Francine doing;. Katherine said; Francine is down to 113 pounds and do you know what that is; Joan got upset and said; why - how much do you think I weigh; Katherine said: I am not talking about you; Joan said; but when you said that do you what that is, it is like saying you think I weigh more; They did not say anything for a while. Then Joan repeated; but when you said that do you what that is; and Katherine said; yeah do you know that is on a woman like Francine, it is all skin and bones - Francince lost three pounds in two days; And then tonight at 7PM Joan called me and told me the story and asked me if her sister thought she weighed more than 113 pounds and I said to her; no your sister does not think that - all she meant is that Francine is skin and bones. MY QUESTION: DO YOU AGREE WITH ME AND DID I GIVE THE RIGHT ANSWER: Here is what Joans sister said to Joan last week: Katherine saw Joan trying to scratch her back because Joan had a terrible itch. Katherine came over and scratched the itch on Joans back and in a teasing voice said: ech, you are so bony;

You're not fooling anyone with these questions.

Joan needs counseling. Katherine was talking about her sister and Joan needs to stop being so selfish. Honestlym if she really is friends with Katherine she needs to be a lot more sincere and think about other people a lot more.
"Do you know what that is?" doesn't refer to Joan at all, it's a rhetorical question. Katherine was just trying to make a point. Katherine is going through a really hard time and Joan needs to stop bugging her. Joan is being a really bad friend by only talking about herself. Next time she should be sympathetic and ask questions about Francine. Self-centered people tend to have very few friends.

i lost my ipod and i found out that i dropped it in my neighbors lawn and he accidentally mowed over it. it's now broken. i bought the ipod less than a year ago (i cant remember exactly when, and i dont have a receipt, but i bought it online either last august, september, or october).

will apple give me a new ipod free of charge because of the warranty if i show them the broken ipod?

I majorly doubt it, especially if you didn't buy AppleCare for it. Apple is a huge pain about their warranties- I read the apple care brochure and if anything by accident or misuse happens to your ipod, they probably won't fix it and there's no way they'll give you a free ipod. Mine stopped working randomly after two years of treating it well and they didn't do anything.
The best you can do is give them your ipod, and you'll get 10 percent off the purchase of a new ipod. If you don't have a lot of money I'd suggest buying a refurbished one:

does anyone know of some kind of perfume that smells tropical?? cause like, my sister got me this lip gloss, and it is called "tropical colada". so i want some perfume that smells kinda like coconut-ish. idk. i don't know how to explain it. lol. sorry. i hope i got my point across somehow. hehe. bye!

As the people below me said, try Bath and Body Works. Their Coconut Lime Verbena products smell amazing and you can get tons of stuff- lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.

Also try Mark (it's Avon's teen line). They have a scent called Instant Vacation that smells like that. Try avon.com or meetmark.com.
