Ok... there is this girl in my class that is so FAKE.. she never rele acts the same.. U can just tell that she isn't herself around any1.. her clothes are in style but they r alll the same one's evry week.. How do u ask her if she is uncomfortable around us?

Maybe she just needs a friend - and you know what? You could be that friend.

Maybe her self-esteem needs a boost.

She sounds like she feels self-conscious about herself because she obviously wants others to accept her, but she should have someone there to support her so that she can accept her for herself.

She should act like her own person.

She's not uncomfortable around you. She thinks that you're uncomfortable around her - that's why she wants to try to conform.

Well, I'd talk to your ex first and straighten things out with him.

He needs to know that you still want to remain friends, but you don't really feel "connected" in that way right now.

Then I'd talk to your best friend and ask him how he'd feel if you two were going out.

It'd be absolutely fine to date him - just don't forget about your other friends in the long run.

All friends (and boyfriends) are created equal, so donate the same amount of time to spend with all. :)

Hey, I left my book I'm reading in school. It's called The Bitch Posse. If anyone has read it, the first page is very dirty, its says Fuck me, fuck me. Its a bad book, but a good book. I'm pretty sure I left it in my last pd. class and I'm very worried I'll get in trouble for having a bad book like this in school. The teachers class I left it in is pretty nice, but I'm very scared that I'll get in trouble.I didn't go to school today, and I texted some of my friends and asked them to see if the book was in class. My one sent back, I don't see it. So I think my teacher must have picked it up.
Can I get in trouble? If so, how much?. I mean are they really going to be mad that I'm reading OUTSIDE of school, bad or not?

I think they probably will get mad because they don't like it when people swear in their classroom, so why should they allow swearing to be in books - especially in the title of the book; very noticeable.

They don't want to give their students, or the students' parents the wrong idea about their "teaching methods".

I think that if you talk to your teacher about it, she probably won't be very angry at you - just don't let it happen again or she probably will get rather angry...

Okay. I'm sure this question is on here a million times over, and i know the main remedy is to "be yourself", but i need an answer a little bit deeper than that.

I'm not skinny. I'm not horribly fat. I am chubby, but i know i'm not ugly. (i'm not trying to be conceited at all.) my thing is, i have confidence in myself. And though i am self-conscious about my weight, i'm working on that with all i've got. Here's the problem; i'm a junior in high school, and i still don't know how to act around guys. yeah the main problem is my self-consciousness, but now that i'm past that a little, i don't know how to initiate conversation with guys i'm interested in. there are a ton of guys i'd like to get to know, but i have no idea how to go about it.
saying Hey! randomly is a bit bold for me, though my personality is loud. and i always am myself with my friends and in meeting people; but around guys i'm interested in... i clam up. and if i don't know them, i can never initiate anything. because i'm horribly shy when it comes to that.

so if anybody has any advice on...ice breakers i guess? i'd love to hear them all. :)

First of all, you need to get rid of your self-consciousness.

I used to be severely self-conscious, until I tried something that I hadn't really thought of before...

I went to the local pool with my friends - wearing a bikini. They'd coaxed me into wearing one cause I'd always wear a one-piece with shorts, or something of that nature, trying to hide everything cause I was so conscious of what others would think about myself.

When I found out that I was the only one that thought that way about myself.

I discarded my fears as soon as I got used to wearing the bikini because it was a big step for me to conquer my consciousness.

I then felt more confident.


If that doesn't work, I'd try joining the speech team at your school - it helps A LOT with your presence, posture, and voice. It makes you more confident when you're speaking as well. After just two weeks of being on the speech team, I'd started to talk to people that I barely even knew, because I gained confidence.


If that doesn't work, try working your way up the "social ladder" at a gradual pace.

Challenge yourself to talk to people that you wouldn't normally talk to - if they find that you're more open and friendly towards them, they'll be talking about you in a positive way.

Pretty soon, you'll have a whole chain of people to talk to, and it won't seem like a phobia or a fear anymore.

How do you wash your eyes( the most safest and effective way)? I'm a very clean person and i'm sure that i wash my eye properly but sometimes I'll look in the mirror and they'll be eye guck in there or dried around my eyes! gross!

If you need to remove mascara and other eye make-up from your eyes, I use baby oil on a cotton ball and it works extremely well.

For the general cleaning of your eyes, I'd grab a wash cloth and soak it in warm water and then just swipe it around your eyes - wouldn't use soap because Soap + Eyes = Irritation and OUCH! (If you've ever had that happen with soap or shampoo...) :S

Well, not everyone can pull off someone else's hairstyle exactly.

They have to have the same hair type, length, .etc - it'll always look different.

But I'd try using the new curling styling products from Herbal Essence or the curl line from John Freida.

After doing so, I'd use a curling iron on the ends of your hair, after it's towel dried.

Then apply some hairspray to make it stay put.

1. The media blows everything way out of proportion - very few kids, in the U.S. especially, are killed or injured in the presence of a gun.

They also take the very small, rather minuscule problems and promote them to people like they're huge problems that need to be dealt with immediately.

You only hear if someone got shot, was in a shark attack, died from E. Coli consumption, was in a plane crash, .etc.

Everyone worries about the little things that the media wants us to worry about - they want to try to cover up the real problems.

You'd never hear if someone died from a heart attack, lung cancer, drowning, .etc cause those are "boring" deaths - they need to spark hysteria.


If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the rare causes of death like that, worry about getting heart disease or lung cancer. Because you can actually control those diseases...

15/f... i'm bisexual which i think is a bigger problem from me then being gay for a few reasons. one, my parents understand that people like one gender or the other but mostly my dad thinks bi people are not really bi...he thinks they are confused. i'm not bi curios or confused, i know for a fact that i like some guys and i like some girls, i've been like this for a few years now, and thats that. i also think that my friends (mostly female....i'm not attracted to any of them)will be sort of thrown off if i tell them. its because i have a crush on a guy and i talk about it so they all think i'm straght. i just don't want to loose any friends or family over this but i think they should know...i really need help on how do this.

You should tell them.

They might be able to help make your life easier for you as you're struggling to reveal your true identity.

If they get weirded out about it, than you might want to give them some time.

If they still can't put up with the fact that you're bisexual, then maybe you should try and find some new friends - people that'll accept you for you and that won't be offended by your true identity.

With your family, it might seem more difficult to talk to them about this, but sooner or later you have to tell them. They are there to support you in the decisions and choices that you make in the good, the bad, and the ugly.

So throughout my entire life, I have gotten all A's and B's... until now.

I'm a freshman in college, and the change from high school hit me pretty hard. I'm still doing well enough, but I got a C+ and it nearly killed me. I've never gotten that type of grade before! The worst part is it was in Biology, which is my major!!!

I'm doing a little better this semester, but I really want to kick it into high gear and get my grades back up. I have A's and B's in my other classes, but a C+ in the class I'm majoring is unacceptable.

Since I go to a private college, I know it's only going to get worse as the years go on. I'm continuing taking Biology next year and I'm going to start taking Chemistry too.

I need lots of study tips, maybe some good study web sites for each subject (Bio and Chem), and any advice related. Thanks so much in advance!!!

Maybe you should try taking up a new major?

You can always switch if you want to - maybe biology just isn't the subject for you.

You could start something new by taking a class that you like a lot, or think that you'd really enjoy, and seeing if you could switch your major to a class that you do well in because you enjoy it.

If you're not happy with your major, then I'd switch if I were you.

If you don't enjoy that subject, or aren't getting very good grades in it, then could you really stand getting a job in biology in the future?

I'm so bored. i'm on spring break right now and I was so excited for spring break and now that i'm here, i'm soo bored. my mom tells me at like 9 o clock to get ready because we're leaving like RIGHT NOW. she tells me this every day. righ now is always 3 in the afternoon. I try to keep myself occupied but I can only do that for so long. i go work out, which is about two hours. That's all I have to do. I don't have anything else to do and it's so annoying. I'm getting my liscence hopefully next week or during the summer, but most likely soon. but, i don't know how to ride a bike, i can't just walk out of my house, as nice as that would be, miami is no place to go take a walk outside your house. my mother spends the day cleaning the house, and believe me, i've tried everything to help her. but, i don't know what else to do. the house is perfectly fine. she wakes up early in the morning, disorganizes it, so she has to clean it again. as much as i try to help her, she will never be finished cleaning. the house can be sparkling and in her eyes, it is filthy. i'm an only child. i have like 2 friends who are always either on a trip or somehow, the most different people always want to be around me. Their parents don't let them do ANYTHING, which i don't think is fair. One of them, i understand. The other girl's mother is just a snob. Anywho, friends are not an option, neither are siblings, or going out hiking... can someone please help me before i go crazy??

I'd recommend finding some hobby that you can do with other people so that you can meet new people and make some new friends. :)

Maybe try taking up something like soap or candle making, scrapbooking, sewing, knitting, try out a new instrument, or something like that.

You could start a new interest or take a new hobby up that you didn't even know existed - or something that you think looks like fun, but you've never had any time to actually try it out.

Maybe, if you enjoy being on the computer, you could start a website or a blog. Very time consuming, yet very fun.

i fractured my finger around thanksgiving (well i never went to the dr.s but my sister fractured hers and mine had the same swelling). anyways, now the middle knuckle on that finger is still sore when its touched (not like just brushing up on it but when its pushed on) and the knuckle wont crack what so ever. is it still swolen? will it go away?

I've had the same thing happen to me several times.

The first time I thought I'd jammed my pinky finger when I caught a basketball and it started hurting really bad.

A few hours later, it started swelling up - went to the doctor and found out that I had not jammed, fractured, nor broken my finger.

I had torn a tendon in my finger. They take awhile to heal - a couple months for all of the pain to go away. Still hurt when I pushed on it for a couple months.

Then in October of 07', I set a volleyball on a serve and my thumb went backwards - jammed it. No swelling, but it hurt for a few days.

Then, just in December, I was playing basketball on defense and I accidentally brushed my finger against my friend's ear and I felt a seething snapping sensation in my middle finger.

Tore a tendon in my middle finger - hurt for a few months, but just about a week ago the pain that you get from pushing on it went away.


You most likely tore a tendon.

It'll hurt for a couple of months, but eventually, the pain will go away...

It hurts severely when it happens, and when you "forget" that it's torn and tear it again on accident.

But you can't do much about it except for wait it out.

That usually happens at that time of the month and it causes dizziness and blurry vision sometimes - you start seeing bright lights and sometimes you get nauseous.
