about

For the most part I'm good with car and animal related questions, but I'll answer other stuff if its something I feel I know enough about.
Ask me anything, and I'll give it my best shot.

Just dont ask me anything about the chances of you being pregnant.

Or if s/he likes you or not.

Or if you're fat. (I'll say yes no matter what)

advice

my dad said he wants one of those car lockers that you just push the button and it locks or unlocks. so you dont have to put a key in you know? well i tried searching it on google but i dont know the name of it. anyways i live in denver colorado..if that helps..we have like sears walmart target lowes all those types of things..would i possibly find one there? or a car store? and whats the approximate price range for most trucks? thanks much.

Keyless entry systems can be very basic, from something like this http://www.radarcity.com/product?prod_id=9436&refer=6
for about 30 dollars to upwards of 200 dollars. The more expensive ones include different types of alarms and remote starters, and some even come with pagers that go off when your car is being broken into.
But it sounds like your looking for something more basic. Go here http://www.google.com/products?q=car+keyless+entry&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1
and browse some of the options to see what you like and fits your price range.
If you do buy it for your dad he could install it himself if he is mechanically inclined, or you could get him a gift certificate to a local shop so they could install it.

Cheers.

I have a 3 year old cockapoo, 20 pounds, female
She keeps shivering and shaking, even if we keep her in a blankets and bedding. Her nose is fairly warm. Besides this, she's acting like herself. When she's playing and romping around she won't shiver. Do I need to take her to the vet? Thank you very much.

You should at least call the vet to see what they think it is.

I doubt anyone her will know previsley what is the matter, but it could be serious, or just as simple as your dog being cold.

Call the vet to see what they have to say, either way its a free opinion.

what are some good sensible cars for a sixteen year old? my birthday isnt until april but i'm gonna have to work on my parents for awhile so it's probably a good idea to start now! something not too expensive please. i'm looking for a big small car if you know what i mean.

thanks

A Thunderbird? A Mitsubishi?! Let alone a Galant?!?!
May the automotive gods curse ye...

It depends on what your parents are willing to spend, if they are fortunate enough to be able to buy you a new car, then consider the Honda Fit, and the Nissan Versa.

If a used car makes more sense financially (I also think it makes more sense practically, because you wont feel so bad when you scratch/break/crash it because you are new to driving) then look at the Honda Civic, and the Toyota Carolla. Both are excellent choices for many reasons.

I would be happy to give some more advice if you are interested.

In the last year or so Ive been having extremley realistic dreams. I can even feel pain. I remember I had a nightmare of a murderer chasing me and then shoving the "butt" of a rifle into me and it stinging and burning so bad I had to wake myself up. As soon as I woke up the pain was gone. Even last night I had a dream I got into a pickup truck with my friend and the smell of Axe body spray was overwhelming. I felt like I couldnt breathe until I opened a window in the car. Also in my dream I was fixing my hair and it felt sticky, as if I had glue in it or something, so I actually washed it out in my dream and It was gone. My dreams are so realistic I wonder if these things actually happened. Does anyone have any advice on them or any idea why I have such realistic dreams.

BTW: Im 15 & female, if it helps.

I personally find dreams extraordinarily fascinating. I do not claim to know what exactly dreams are or what they mean, but I do like to study them.

Occasionally I will have a dream like the ones you describe, but not often. If I were you I would view this ability as something to be proud of, that in your sleeping state your mind can create these intense situations.

However real they are or seem to be in your dreams, it is very doubtful these things are happening in real life. It's often amazing how complex of a scenario the mind can create without conscious input. Some people think that dreams are the way that the "super-subconscious" expresses itself, and that this supersubconcious is more...tuned in/aware/intelligent than our conscious.

Whatever they are or mean, don't worry. If they are not bothering your sleep or regular life than I would not think its a big deal. Really cool, but not worrisome.

I would be interested in hearing more about these dreams though... :]

Oh wait, about the pain thing, it could be kind of like when you see someone get severely hurt, and you feel the pain too in a sense. You don't actually have pain, but you can *feel* it.If that makes sense.

i have a cat who is about a year old and I am really worried!
i have never seen her produce a "hairball" i was watching stewart little, and the cat has a hairball and i was wondering if cats have to have hairballs?

Please ANSWER! I am stressing out bigtime about my abnormal kittay!

Your cat is not abnormal; It is perfectly fine for her not to have hairballs. Just because you saw it on Stewart little does not by any means mean that all cats MUST have hairballs.

do you think this guy actually has a chance of winning? and will you vote for him? lol just curious.. i mean cause there are so many other good people running this year.. i wish Al Gore ran again.. but theres also Hillary Clinton and that Obama guy who are good IMO. but the colbert guy is pretty funny so i also want him to win. whats your opinion? btw i cant vote now.. im not american and im just 13, ahha.

Actually, Razhie, in South Carolina where Colbert announced he is running (yes, only s. Carolina) you can legally run as both parties. I was listening to an interview with him on NPR this morning and he (truthfully) said that it can be done.

I would vote for him.

I do think that he will run for real, but I agree that he wont make it very far. Hell probably just pull it off with a joke and a laugh, but hey, its a good publicity stunt, isn't it?

I fully agree with Daimeera, and would just like to clarify some.

I currently work at an animal hospital, so I think I know what I'm talking about when I say that animals are EXPENSIVE.
Lets go through a list of costs associated with caring for a dog, shall we?
-food
-toys& accessories
-annual vet exams (never under $100 dollars, and often much more)
-vaccinations and preventatives including but certainly not limited to heart worm, flea & tick, and bordatella.
-tests including blood, urine, and fecal.
-emergency costs. My dog has been quilled twice, and each time we walked out of the emergency clinic $300 bucks lighter.
Yes, there are more costs, because any dog, ANY, will have some problem or another that is unforeseeable.

That being said, If you feel like you can afford to care for an amimal well, like daimeera said check local shelters and rescues, also craigslist in your area.

And do not, NOT buy a dog from a pet store. That would be adding to the market for puppy mills. If you are unfamiliar with the term, check here http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affecting_our_pets/get_the_facts_on_puppy_mills/index.html
Or here (this ones kinda graphic, and a disturbing)http://www.prisonersofgreed.org/

I suddenly gained 6 lbs. I have no idea where it came from. My legs and arms are as thin as ever, and my back and abdomen have no visible fatty increase. I don't think I gained any muscle. How do I lose 10 lbs? 13/f small/medium frame 5"5 126 lbs.

You don't.

Your BMI is 21, which is a *little* bit towards the lower end of average weight.

There is no reason for you to lose 10 pounds, or any really.

hi..i really want this camcorder/mp4 player..and an e-bay shop has it for a lot cheaper then it is, and even if i add the postage and packaging..it will still be cheaper than buying it from a store. the problem is...they have 318 negative feedback in the past 12 months. but thats from 23,292 feedback in the past year. should i get it from the person...or pay more...like £60($120) more in the store?

That equates to about 0.013% negative feedback.

I would buy it from the ebay seller if I were you.

Hey, you answered my question about the beginner bike. I just wanted to know what you think people think about female bikers (not fat/butch chicks, but attractive girls). Stereo types and such. Say, your going down the road and you see a 17 year old girl on a sport bike, what's your first impression?

Ummm...where do you live? Wanna hook up?

I'm kidding. Kinda.

Ok, in all seriousness this is a tough question. I personally would find that girl even more appealing than did she not ride. Keep in mind that thats my first impression, and maybe the girl isn't so great off the bike, thats just my first impression. Some people may just she her as being rebellious...I'm not sure. Maybe it comes down to the person/group that holds their own stereotype.

But regardless of what people think, don't do something because of that. Who cares what the old lady down the street thinks? (ahem, yes there is a story to that)

Perhaps I didn't word that so well, you get what I mean, right?

What is a good beginner sportbike? Who makes the most reliable bike (Honda, BMW, SUZUKI, YAMAHA, etc.). I would REALLY like a crotch rocket, but I'm not sure.

This question may be a little old, but here goes anyway...

Like ygsgirl said, do not go out and buy a gsxr, rr, or any other bike of that caliber, most likely you will end up like ygsgirl's friend.

First, thoroughly read http://yensbikes.blogspot.com/2006/05/new-bikers-guide-to-riding-and-buying.html

It will go over the basics of buying a bike for a beginner. One of the things this site tell you to do is to take an MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course if your state offers it. This is an absolute MUST in my opinion.

You also need to consider the cost of riding. You need to pay for the bike itself, gas, upkeep&maintaining it, gear and clothing, insurance, and other expenses.

If you still want to ride, start small. Since you like the sport bike style If I were you I would consider the Kawasaki Ninja250, or if you are mature enough, the Ninja500. Both are great choices, and can be found used for relatively cheap.

Yes, I ride, and know a fair thing or two, so feel free to chat if you would like some more advice.

Cheers

what is a good house dog, who likes children,is nice and can get trained easily?

PS. Dont say chiuauah (if thats how you spell it) because I hate those dogs

A good house dog does not depend on the breed, though that can help some.

Mostly it comes down to the specific dog, and how well its trained and socialized.

You need to consider what size dog you want too, small, large, etc..

I have nothing against small dogs, but they often are not great with children. It has to do with the fact that they feel threatened by something bigger than them , especially when the child isn't so great at playing nicely.

But again, it depends.

Feel free to ask me specific questions, I know quite a bit about animals and animal behavior and might be able to help you out more.

if the fletching on my arrow is ripped by the shaft of my arrow will it make a difference?

If the fletching is ripping off of the shaft then I would go ahead and replace it. If you are comfortable with glueing it back on then thats ok as well.
Do remember that if ever you feel like something is unsafe, then dont do it.
But have fun! I find archery very claming.

[view]

im new at archery and i don't shoot animals but is it necessary to raplace vanes/fletching on your arrows if they start to rip? can ripped vanes mess up may shots?

Minor rips in your fletches will not effect your shot very much. Unless you're a pro with a really high power bow then dont worry about it.
EDIT:
Sorry for contradicting SIzzlinMandolin, but from personal experience a minor rip in a overall good arrow in no hazard. If it does have a major rip then yes it is unsafe.

okay so i know how dumb and unhealthy this is but i need to lose at least 5 pounds by friday: i am going to stick to fruit and then slim fast drinks for meal supplemts...and like lean chicken and tuna do you think this will work? i know its only a 4 day thing but i have to do it

Dito to Mike. Listen to him, he knows what he is talking about.

And if you plan on just eating fruits, plan on diarrhea. Especially if all you eat is apples.

I don't understand why girls don't like the "sweet" or "nice" guys anymore..All my friends that are girls, like the "Bad boys" or the "Jocks". I like one of my friends, but she likes one of the "bad boy" guys...How can I get her to realize that I could probably be a better boyfriend than him...(14/M)

Unfortunately media, advertising, and pop culture have shaped common teenage girls to think only about the look/muscles/group that the guy is.
Faced with this dilemma us of the "normal" group can only wait until they outgrow what I call the "Idiot Infatuation" stage.
Of course there are the exceptions, and one is sure to come along for you at some point.
Don't beat yourself up, and just wait until the girl/s finally get their senses together that because we are not the best looking or the most popular, we are not wrapped up in "material goods" and thus the best to choose.
Be patient.

I have a little 11 year old shih tzu, who is in still, very good health. The only problem is her teeth and breath. Her breath is so bad right now and her teeth will fall out very soon unless they are taking care of. Today, I went out and bought toothpaste, toothbrushes, and mints for dogs. I tried to brush her teeth but she just wasn't having it. She rarely opened her mouth and she went into this physicall fit. Turn her head every direction possible so that I could not brush her teeth. I tried to keep her head and body in place while trying to keep the brush steady but she was starting to fight with me. I didn't want to be too forceful because I felt like she'd get hurt, so I stopped. How can I get her to stay calm or at least let me brush her teeth? I don't want her to lose teeth because of this.

Adding onto YoungGrandma, try bones like "Denta-bone" that are specifically meant for plague and bad breath.

Also, try a toothpaste that is flavored like beef, and just have her taste a little off your finger before brushing.

my dog's stomach is making really loud gurgly noises and shes not eating..she hasnt thrown up or anything but shes just lying here and im like 3 feet away and can hear her stomach..should i take her to the vet?

How long has your dog not been eating? If it has been twenty four hours or more then perhaps you should call your vet and see what they think.

But if shes not acting weird or abnormal, then she is probably just digesting something that doesn't quite agree with her. Your stomach growls on occasion right? It makes sense that a dogs would too.

In comparison to Windows Xp and Windows Vista, what are the advantages and the disadvantages between the two?

I currently have the Xp version but was thinking about switching to Vista.

Anything would be great!

As of about two weeks ago, I have a new laptop with vista on it and its working great for me. But...if your current machine has xp in it, then I would wait a half a year or so, that way windows can work any kinks out.
So far I love vista, its got a re-vamped navigation system that I like alot, gadgets (ripped of from Mac, yes), built in security(just make sure to turn off User Account Controll), and its multimedia deteup it great.
But again, maybe wait a bit.
And check out the reviews on www.cnet.com
