I am 15 years old and have never had a boyfriend. Is that normal? (link)
|
Actually, yes, that is perfecly normal.
|
i used to drink alot and i mean alot of pop and now im stopping to lose weight but lately ive been getting really bad headaches my mom said its because of the lack of caffine are there any other
ways to get caffine but are healthy too
i rate ! --thanks (link)
|
you see, the thing is, lots of caffeine is NEVER healthy.
Want to ditch the headaches? Cut way back on the amount of caffeine you intake and masively increase the amount of water you drink. For one, that will make caffeine actually effective when you do drink it, and will stop dehydrating you and causing caffeine withdrawl headaches - which is largely dehydration, because caffeine is a very good diuretic - aka, it makes you pee a lot.

Does anyone know if burning incense causes lung cancer?(Please answer only if you really know) (link)
|
This is not a yes/no question. Depending on the chemicals found in the incense, and depending if you are prone to lung cancer, it very well could cause lung issues for you. Anytime you inhale something into your lungs other than just normal air, you run some level or risk. Generally, most people aren't bothered by incense. There are some incense that I've been exposed to that cause an asthmatic response - lots of coughing and whatnot. Generally, I avoid those, and I don't burn incense myself, because, well... it's smelly ;)
But you're probalby safe if you are burning incense - just make sure you keep your room ventilated, though.

what are some jobs you can get that are good paying without going to college?
(link)
|
Umm... rock star? Trash collector (they do get paid well)... uhh... pray a lot and hope to get lucky and win the lottery, fall into a huge inheretance, or somehow magically wind up as the CEO of a large corporation...?
Really "good paying" is a very relative term. People can indeed make a living without a degree, but there are a lot of jobs that you will not be able to get, and generally, those jobs ARE higher paying with better benefits.
But this depends - do you want to just "get by" in life, or do you want to try to get ahead of the game?
|
can you make a guy love you?! and if so..what kinda stuff can you do?! (link)
|
Technically, No - you cannot "make" anyone love you. It just doesn't work that way. You can entice someone, but that doesn't make them love you. You can force someone to pay attention to you, but that doesn't cause them to fall for you.
Love is fickle that way. And it generally works best between people with similar interests, similar minds. And not everyone is ready for a relationship at the same time, nor does everyone have the same level of interest.
So, no, you can't force anyone to love you.

Can you still get breasts after you've had your period like 9 times? (link)
|
yes. Breasts continue to grow well into your 20s.

hi does toothpaste rellay work on pimples/zits?!
KLG (link)
|
Lots of people seem to like to say "yes" to this.
The thing is, the answer is "no".
At best, toothpaste can quasi-mask the presence of a zit, but there is nothing in toothpaste to dry out the infection or kill the infection (as zits are really just tiny infections).
Toothpaste is designed to clean teeth. It has fluoride to strengthen teeth, mild abrasives to scrub teeth, and perhaps a whitening agent. Some contains a substance to fight gingivitis. But nowhere in there does it have anything to fight acne.

I get really bad migraines almost everyday. I've tried taking advil, bayer, exedrin migraine..almost every kind of aspirin, and nothing helps. My doctor doesn't want to prescribe something to me because I'm only 15. So my question is does anyone know of a way to relieve migraines? Not regular headaches but migraines..thanks (link)
|
There is good evidence that taking riboflavin supplements can help decrease the intensity and frequency of recurrence of migraine headaches.
I do understand why your doctor is hesitant to give you stronger migraine medicine. Your body will become more and more tollerant of those drugs over time, make them ineffective. By taking them at the age of 15, you run the risk of becoming resistant to these drugs early in life, making continued migraines difficult to deal with later on.
I would also make sure you've had your eyes checked recently, as strained eyesight can trigger severe headaches. Also, get your teeth checked, as cavities can actually cause severe headaches - both the eyesight and tooth bit can feel much like a migraine.
Also, when taking the more "normal" pain killing drugs, take some caffeine - drink a coke, whatever - this will help the drugs work better on your migraine.

Okay, "Mackenzie" here, and I suppose I'm here to "whine, bitch and complain". Viewing it differently, I'm just seeking some suggestions/answers from a Wise Man. Okay, so... I'm having trouble with my column, plain and simple. About four weeks ago, I put an HTML code for a colored scroll bar inside the Bio text box, and not only did it *NOT* work, it messed up my column, so to speak. Ever since then it won't let me edit a single thing!!! For instance, I can't change my email, location, Bio info and so on. The "Submit" button simply will not work. And I can't even type inside the Bio text box. Infact, my Bio info is seen on my "Profile Settings" OUTSIDE of the text box!! I can't even erase the colored scroll bar HTML code I put IN!! Not a *single thing* will change!! This really blows because, not only is there a text box visible from my comlumn, I've moved to another state, I have changed my AIM sn, and my birthday has come and gone. I wouldn't be here complaining if it was just the appearance of my site that was, well.. not how I wanted it, it's the fact that the information is not up to date. Any answers/suggestions would be MORE than appreciated!! Thanks so much for your time! Take caRe!! =D (link)
|
ouch...
This is probably something that the admin will have to fix - she has the ability to go in and tweak things at a more basal level than the moderators can. I'll copy this to her via external email. I'm going to guess that the code you put in the bio caused a hiccup in the system, throwing everything out of whack.

Does poison ivy spread ? (link)
|
yes and no...
Many people will say that it does not spread... but those people might not be as sensitive to the oils from the plant than others.
It all depends on how sensitive you are (how allergic you are to it) and how much of the oil you've gotten on yourself. If you got quite a bit on you, and you're very allergic, the oil can seep out of the inflamed area and spread to more skin. This is why products like Caladryl, because it covers the blisters and help to dry them out, absorbing not only the blister fluid, but the fatty-acid/oil form the plant that causes the inflammation.
This is also why washing the area with soap is good - soap will dissolve the oils and help wash it away without getting on more skin. Then make sure to pat the area dry - rubbing will make the irritation worse and possibly spread any remaining oils.
So, a rather long answer for something that I can easily sum up as being "yes - poison ivy can spread" ;)
In fact, I got it once from bumping into someone who had it on their leg - my ankle hit the area, and the next day - bam! Itchy blisters on my ankle. We were indoors.

I keep my computer on pretty much 24 hours a day. It doesn't really seem to be a problem. But earlier today I went to check my computer and it had a blue tint over everything. It has done this before, but last time I just refreshed the desktop, and it went back to normal. This time, I've tried refreshing it and restarting it and it doesn't seem to want to go back to normal. I don't know what I did to make it go blue, and it's a very pretty blue, but I would like to have my normal screen back.
Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? (link)
|
you probably need to degauss your monitor - this happens when the screen begins to build a magnetic charge and the colors all skew. You should be able to degauss it through the monitor's own menu (not the computer keyboard). Every monitor is different, so I can't give you anything more specific than that. Check the monitor's manual, assuming you still have it. But this definitely sounds like a degauss need.

Im 5'4 and I weigh 115 lbs. Im going to be in 11th grade this year so im 16 yrs old. I cant help to think im fat. Im not trying to be annoying but its so true. I stress my self about it EVERYDAY! My friends tell me "im so skinny, I have a tiny waist and big boobs " thats them talking. I want to believe them I just cant I look in the mirror and see disgust, Hatful FAT! I want to just accept my body. How can I feel better about myself? Please Ill take any advise. Its just been giong on for so long and Im tierd of worring day in and day out! I have other things to worry about like helping my mom with her boyfriend But thats a whole other story. (link)
|
Hate to tell you this, but, well... you ARE skinny. Your weight is nothing to worry about. Stop looking in the mirror and judging yourself - stop attempting to hold yourself to some either non-feasable or ill-conceived standard. You're fine. And everyone had some amount of body fat... in fact, if a person's body fat is too low, they are at serious health risk to themselves - our bodies need some fat.
Stop looking in mirrors, only to pour hate over what you see - that will get you nowhere fast.
Next time you walk past a mirror - give it the finger. And as you do, look at your own face in the reflection and smile, because you'll know there's not a damned thing the mirror can do about it ;)

i am not really sure how to ask this question but ... i am really sick -i have leukemia- and i was wondering how to tell my friends?? (link)
|
I'd just tell them up-front. It's not like you're hiding anything. Make sure they are aware of what it means, and use this as an opportunity to make them aware of what Leukemia is. Don't be afraid to tell your friends - but also be aware that some of them might not know how to react or what to say - and to those people, just tell them that you don't expect them to say anything, and that you just felt like you needed to let them know, as your life has just gotten more complex.
That said, good luck, and I hope you're able to get treatment and be cancer free.

im a moderator nd i put a good rating on a question that wasnt that great by accident, so would that make me not a moderator any more or something?? (link)
|
umm... just change the rating... no, really.. you can change the rating you gave a question. It's not a big deal.

omg ok i have to get my wisdom teeth pulled! SOMEONE PLEASEE answer...how bad does it hurt? are you awake? and how long is your mouth all swollen? im really scared.. i ABSOLUTELY hate the dentist..and im scared to go.. but im more worried about the ?'sz i asked..soo please answer! p.s i rate! (link)
|
The pain level will have to do with how badly your wisdom teeth are impacted, if at all. If they can just pull them, it won't be too bad. If they have to cut them out, it will suck for a day or two.
Either way, you'll likely not be awake for the procedure, and they'll use lots of novacaine, and then you'll get to do happy fun salt water rinses to keep the wounds clean, and probably have a few pills to take to deal with the pain.
But all in all, you'll be alright in a day or two and won't think anyting more of it. You're better off not worrying about it.
Good luck!

y do i get mean questions in my inbox from people on this site...why are people so mean? (link)
|
...because some people are just immature jerks.
If you get abusive questions in your in-box, first off, let the admin and the L2 moderators know. Send us links to the questions if you can, or we'll help you get that info for us. Then we can investigate the abuser and see what needs to be done.
We don't put up with harassment.
|
ok now on advicnators y is like some of the words underlined and u can clik on them? (link)
|
As someone said, you probably have spyware on your computer. We don't have any random links in the comments/questions here, so if you're seeing things like that, it is on your end.
Try getting Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoft.de/
download Ad-Aware Personal SE, and run it. I bet it will find lots of nasties on your computer - one of which is causing the random links to appear.
|
Do you know how to delete someone's question with your answer on your advice cloumn? (link)
|
Yes, but as I said, there needs to be a good reason why it needs to be removed. Also, I'll need a link to the question you'd like removed.
