musicbox379 answered Wednesday August 25 2004, 10:40 pm: There are a few jobs: some waitors, janitors, ect. The amount of jobs you can do are getting fewer and fewer though, even though there may seem to be a lot to choose from. If you are in college and considering dropping out I would advise you no to. There is method behind the madness. It will really, honestly help you have finacial security if you finish College. If you are in highschool and can't afford to go to college I would suggest finding a highschool geared more towards career studies. Either way, it is best to try to get as much as possible out of your education even if you only use it on rare occasions. Knowledge is power and power will help you suceed. Just use your power wisely and life will bring you much success. [ musicbox379's advice column | Ask musicbox379 A Question ]

cailoisa answered Monday August 23 2004, 6:08 pm: Most jobs that don't require college are either very low paying, very hard work, or both. You could start your own business, like a restaurant or pet grooming or something. You would need to get a loan and they are a lot of work.
Otherwise, there are jobs like fast food and mall shops. These are like the jobs that you would get while you're in high school. None of these pay very well.
If you live near a huge and wealthy city, consider baggage handling at the airport (tips are uber) or waiting tables at a very fine restaurant (but keep in mind that you have to start in cheaper ones to get experience). But these only really pay well in big (like LA, New York, Chicago) and rich (like the Keys and retirement towns) cities. [ cailoisa's advice column | Ask cailoisa A Question ]
xxKillerQueen answered Monday August 23 2004, 4:21 pm: Don't not go to college. Its simple. There are so many reasons to do that. And I think you could be a secretary or a pet watcher, and if thats not for you, its McDonalds. Its not degrading, but do you really want to live on tight money? Think of it this way - a degree works wonders. If your planning on living without much spending and just little things and all that, then don't get a degree....but it does work for your benefit in the end. You know, my best friends mother didn't finish college. And then she got a divorce from her husband, and she had to move back in with her parents. She's 35. And she's miserable. But, if you had a degree, you would have a well-paying job, and you can be assured that you won't have that much trouble finding a job. Its for your benefit. Is skipping four years of studying worth a life time of regret? I would hope not. [ xxKillerQueen's advice column | Ask xxKillerQueen A Question ]

MFS answered Monday August 23 2004, 3:37 pm: Umm... rock star? Trash collector (they do get paid well)... uhh... pray a lot and hope to get lucky and win the lottery, fall into a huge inheretance, or somehow magically wind up as the CEO of a large corporation...?
Really "good paying" is a very relative term. People can indeed make a living without a degree, but there are a lot of jobs that you will not be able to get, and generally, those jobs ARE higher paying with better benefits.
But this depends - do you want to just "get by" in life, or do you want to try to get ahead of the game? [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
