Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

Why can't I wear foundation? I'll put on a little and blend it in but when you look at my face..it's all fuzzy and then it gets dry..and my face looks worse than it did before. I have tried powder and it worked until my face started to get dry and I can't wear it either. I don't know what to do...
You need to use a moisturizer.
Apply it at least ten minutes before you put your foundation on.

13/F! I've only had one boyfriend whom I went out with for 5 minites and he went to my school and he was like 2 years younger then me. He was my first boyfriend but I dumped him I don't know why I think it was because of the age difference and stuff. Well anyway I don't really think I'm pretty. I really like this kid Brian he's so hott and stuff; but I don't think I'm pretty enough to go out with him I'm afraid to ask him because I don't want to be rejected. I hate this I see him every day at school and we used to talk but my so called friend ruined that cause she told him I stalked him but I didn't. I'm like in love with him he's so hott but I can't ask him out there's no way I could. Like I really want to go out with him and stuff. Got Any Advice?!?
Go ask him out anyway. If he looks at you strangely, it's probably because of the stalker thing so make it clear that you're not stalking him and it's just a joke that your friend played on you that wasn't funny.
And -never- put yourself down like that. -You- might not think you aren't pretty enough but other people probably think different. And guys aren't into looks that much at your age anyway. They want someone who is fun, outgoing and not afraid to speak their mind.
If you don't do it now, chances are you'll regret it later on or keep pining on for him forever. And even if he doesn't like you back, so what? At least you tried. Then you can still find an excuse to talk to him and be friends.
So go get that guy :D

okay i have a problem =/ my friend who i am really close to asked me to homecoming the other day, and i said no. well all along i have really wanted to go with him but people at my school hate him because he dumped one of them like 2 years ago, and they are still upset with him. the thing is, i said no because i didnt want people to be mad at me since it is only the 2nd week of school. Did i do the right thing? He seems really upset and i really want to go so does anyone have any advice? xO
Then go with him. Forget anyone else. Those people might be pissed at first but they'll have to get over it, what choice do they have?
And by 'people', do you mean 'friends'? Because going out with another friend's ex is a no-no, in which case you did the right thing.

I gotta a really big game on Monday againist our rival school, and i want some ideas on how to get excited and pumped for the game!
Throw a pre-party!
Invite everyone on the team and people who you know will be watching. You can do tons of stuff.
Get people to strip of their shirts or use their faces and paint them with team colours.
Serve appetizers with your school initials on it (i.e. Riverdale High School = RHS written in icing sugar on cupcakes)
If you are of legal age, have a few shots or if not, serve punch.
Make a team song and make the whole population of the party practice it to sing at the game.
Get someone from the school band to play a tune during the party/game/after-party(if you win).

ok,my best friend has a boyfriend and i'm kind of jealous (they're perfect and i'm single). Him and i are friends but i like him a little bit more than that. they just started going out this week. she knows him better then i do and she's liked him longer too. i told her that i like him. now do i tell him that i like him or would that ruin the realtionship between the 3 of us? what should i do???

Aww honey, big mistake.
You never should have told your best friend in the first place. Liking him a "little bit" is something that isn't that big of a deal and now your friend will probably feel really bad.
Don't tell the guy, no matter what. I think the situation is beyond repair anyway, your friend might just break up with him out of guilt.
Next time, kepp it to yourself because small crushes don't last long and when you find someone special for yourself, you will be happy for your other friends who has significant others.

I didn't exactly know what to put this under.
But anyway, I'm not the richest person you'll ever meet. I live my single mom, and my sister. We don't have THAT much money, but we're not poor or anything. I have like 2 hoodies that actually fit me, and that I like. And I have like 10 t-shirts that I wear. I really hate wearing the same clothes all the time, and I have like no hoodies (especially going into winter). I don't know what to do? I need some "fashion tips" I guess. I shop at Pac Sun and that's why I can't buy that much clothing at once, because of high prices. I like those kinds of clothes though, so where else can I get clothes that I like, but more of it??
PacSun is a pretty expensive store and I suppose if I tell you to shop at lower-end stores, you wouldn't want to hear about it (I know how you feel. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing something from Walmart or something equal)
I would say go take a look at the Bay and Winners. They usually sell brand-name for cheaper. Also, try depots and warehouses.
This may surprise you but a lot of people I know (popular A|X wearing guys, strangely enough) buy their clothes online (using PayPal which they're obsessed with) using sites such as eLuxury, ebay and discount sites. Make sure you check for fakes though.

So i've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half.. i once broke up with him for two months and he cried.. ALOT.. then we got back together and now all he does is go out with his friends tell my i'm stupid, call me names, and forget about me. He tells me all the time how he doesn't care about me and that really hurts my feelings.. what should i do?
First of all, I really hope that your second hook up was your own decision and you weren't pressured into it by him because I see so many girls these days going out with guys because of the guilt and that is not the way to go. You're young. Be with you you want to be.
Secondly, when you broke up with your boyfriend, it obviously hit him -very- hard. Now he realizes how vunerable you made him and he's trying to distance himself from you.
You need to talk to him and tell him that you won't tolerate him doing that anymore and that you understand that you hurt him but if you're willing to make amends, then he should too.
If he continues doing it, dump the bastard because if he keeps doing it, chances are he's preparing himself to break up with you (something that will be easier for him- or his ego, to handle).
Usually when people break up with each other once, it shows that they're human. However, if getting back together escalates into worse behavior, it may be hard to admit it, but maybe it's not meant to be.

k i have this extreme pain on my left side it started in my hip and has gone to the left back side and it hurts like hell to put pressure oon that leg.. i know i suck at discribing but has anyone had this kind of pain and has gone to a doctor or atleast knows what this is..? ill rate you 5 no matter what (if its a serious answer)

Chances are you pulled a muscle. You don't even need to be doing any physical activity for it to happen. Just moving your foot a different way when you take a step is enough to pull it. I do it all the time. Try stretching that leg.
If the pain is in the bones, rather than the muscles, see a doctor.

Okay, I'm having this Halloween party and I don't know what to do, I told them to ware their costumes, and to bring some warm clothes incase it is cold, but I don't know what to do! There are going to boys and girls, along with my parents, little sis, and my boyfriend;) I don't know what we should do that would be fun for kids our age. We are all 13/14 and we want to just have fun, do you know what we could do? ( please don't make it expensive, my family doesn't have verymuch money right now.) thanks!
I qould vote on you watching a movie. Party games usually come off looking pretty little kiddy-ish at horror movies are great specially on Halloween.
I'd say throw some snacks out and a great movie. Your friends will be scared s---less and the rest of the night will be extremely fun because you'll all be jumpy from the movie.

how do you play the game 21 questions?
First of all, one person thinks of a noun (usually a person) and the second person has to guess it asking the first person yes/no questions. A 'maybe' doesn't count. The 21st question is where the second person guesses the noun.
For example:
Sally has decided to use Angelina Jolie as her noun.
Jimmy starts asking questions like:
1) Does this person have black hair? Yes.
2) Is this person an actress? Yes.
3) Does this person have an accent? Yes.

Well i have this friend lets call him albert.. well okay (SORRY IF THIS IS LONG ILL RATE 5s FOR SERIOUS ANSWERS) so i have known albert since 2nd grade.. and well i need opinions on this.. okay so
1.) Albert is always flirty, touchy, smiley, etc. around me
2.) I asked his friend how he was around people he liked and he said that list above (but thats how he always is around me so im not sure)
3.) Me albert and melinda (other friend not really important) were playing in the snow.. and he always kept tackling me and throwing me in the snow and jumping one me and not letting me get up.
4.) Once i was saying about how no one liked me and stuff and he said thaat i was wrong and i told him he couldnt argue and he said he could etc.
5.) One day albert was preforming in some kind of club and he came over and was talking to me for most of the time and poking me etc. and then hugged me later on.
6.) One morning before school he came up to me and he put his arm around me (lower back not shoulder) and just stood there.
7.) Once when i was mad at him he asked all of my friends why and my one friend told me that he "flipped" out and was asking why he was mad and stuff like that
8.) He complimented me on my earings at my friends party
9.) He kind of kept moving towards me at my friends party and kept poking me and when he was sitting down he kept telling me to sit next to him.
10.) He told me that i should go to my friends party (more than once)
11.) I told him that some kid said to me i hate you you suck and he was like his life and face suck and that he hated him..
12.) He once told me if anything was seriously wrong i would be one of the first to know
13.) Once i asked him who he liked and he told me he couldnt tell me and he said his friend would tell me the next morning and his friend was like can i tell her can i tell her and he was like no.. and then he said something to him and he was like okay.. and he said some girl and then i found out he liked someone else too.. but he wouldnt tell me who that was.

I haven't had sex yet (not because I'm "saving" myself, just because there isn't a useful guy within a 100 mile radius who is single) but my best friend had sex at 16 and a few other friends had sex at 15. The majority of them haven't had sex yet because they haven't had an actual lasting relationship.
I suppose what age you have sex in depends on what your beliefs are. If you care about what people have to say about you, don't have sex before you're sixteen. If you don't care, do it whenever you want. If you care about the law, don't have sex before however old the age of consent is in your area. If you care about religion, follow the rules accordingly. If you want to have sex with someone you love, wait for them. If you don't care, do it with anyone you feel like. If you want to wait till you're ready, wait for it. If you're ready, do it.
There isn't a "right" age. Some people regret the age they had sex at, some people don't. It differs by person.
Because you asked how old everyone else was when they had sex, I guess you are more about when the majority of society had sex. Then I'd say, take a look at the statistics and stick with that.

ok im a huge germophob lol & i was wondering like could you get any type of diseases er anything from public bathrooms? i dont like using them but sometimes you juss have to, so does anyone know anything??

From a person who used to be obsessive compulsive:
Public washrooms are breeding grounds for disease.
First off, when you wash your hands, don't turn the water off without using a paper towel or a tissue because when you originally turned the water on, you put your germy hands on the tap and you didn't wash that with soap, did you?
You can get anything from Crabs to Herpes from toilet seats. That's why you should always line toilets with toilet paper or crouch.
Stall doors and doorknobs as well as the main washroom doors have germs all over them as some people don't wash their hands. Open the main doors with a paper napkin.
Also, avoid touching the sink surface and carry hand sanitizer with you just in case.
Germophobia isn't that bad of a thing because there are germs everywhere (statistics say you come in indirect contact with nine people's genitals everytime you go out in public) but make sure you don't go overboard with that. Just maintain a healthy level of germ awareness.

i use acnefree and when i put on the toner, i use a cotton ball and the toner goes right through the cotton ball so when i try to put it on my face it basically dried out ..if you know what i mean.. what can i do to prevent this? is it the type of cotton balls im useing because i used to try proactiv and it worked just fine for me?
Acnefree and Proactive are different solutions so they would react differently.
Try using different applicators like tissue paper, paper napkins, cotton -pads- et cetera and see which ones work best.

ok, me and my best guy friend figured out that we like eachother. and so he asked me out, and it didnt last too long cause it got weird. and so now we still like eachother but latley he has gotten all snippy and mean when we are around other people, but when he is just with me he is a sweetheart. i am soooo confused and i dont know what to do. should i talk to him or just roll with it?
In this situation, I'd say the guy was probably feeling pretty defensive of your previous relationship so he is starting to put his guard up when there are other people around.
If you don't think his behavior is disruptive, you should probably wait to see if it passes. If it is disruptive or doesn't stop, go have a little chat with him.
