Q: my friends 16th birthday is coming up and my family is going to las vegas my brother and dad are going for the SEMA car show.. aand my mom and I arent going to that show so we thought that i should bring my best friend as her sweet 16 present from me and stuff.. do you think thats a good idea??

if so how can i find out if she would want to go without her being suspiscious of it being her present.. ???

Aww that's a really cute idea! This would be an amazing present because if you take her, you would be paying for airfare, hotel room, and food while you're there right? If not, you probably need to think about that kind of stuff! If you're good talking to her parents you can ask them when she's free and if this would be a good idea. If not, you could causually be like "Wow I can't wait for Las Vegas and the shopping is going to be amazing! Omg wouldn't it be awesome if you could come with me?" If she gets really excited then you could make a cute little card with las vegas themed stuff that says happy birthday and explains your gift inside!

Q: is it a myth that shaving makes the hair grow back more and coarser?

I believe so because usually when one starts shaving, they are going through the process of puberty. During this time, your body is going through some crazy changes and hormones are raging. Because of this, body hair naturally becomes coarser and darker and perhaps even curlier.

What do they do at these parties and why would you have one its personal.

Personally, I don't see a large need for a big celebration. However, I do see how it can be special for a girl to celebrate her coming into womanhood. But, I could see it causing a whole level of embarassment because you're right, it is an extremely personal ordeal that you may not want to share with the world right away. I didn't want to show it off, but some girls may feel good, as in "yes! I am a woman! Here I am world!" Haha.. maybe?

Q: how is it possible to be pregnant and not even know it? like doesnt the belly have to be big?

It can be difficult to determine if you are pregnant at the beginning stages of a woman's pregnancy because she may not start her cycle for a few more weeks. If she isn't supposed to have her period for a little, then it's hard to uses the lack of a period as a determining factor. Also, babies are extremely tiny and a woman might not even start to show until 4 or 5 months into her pregnancy.

Q: I'm beyond frustrated. Shopping never does me any good when it comes to style choices because I feel like I don't know myself or what I'm willing to wear at this point. Can anyone give me some at home projects I can do myself to make my own clothing and accessories? I would prefer if it were something that didn't require me to go to a craft store. I like things that are very earthy and not tacky. Thank you!

If you have any old jeans that are either ratted on the bottom or maybe even too short on you, you can cut them! You can either make Bermuda style shorts or shorter, and you can either keep the fraying look (which I think is super cute) or hem them yourself with a sewing machine. Also, you could even cut the jeans so short that they become a skirt, then you can sew on a cute floral pattern to the bottom to add length. Also, long necklaces are cute right now so if you have anything that you think would make a cute necklace, you can super glue (be careful!) a circular chain to the top and then loop through a cute silver or gold chain.

Just try and get creative! You'll think of more things I'm sure. =]

Q: well i'm going to get my nose peirced soon, and i just needed some advice on what side to get peirced. sounds kind of stupid, i know, but i don't want to get a peircing and it mean something, you know? like how rumors went around that if a guy gets his certain ear peirced that means he's gay.

This may be really juvenile, but i've heard "right is wrong; left is right." This is just what my friend told me though when she got her nose pierced on the left hand side. I've usually on heard this when referring to males when they get one ear pierced and apparently if it is on the right side, then that male is gay. hmm.. not so sure if that is still applicalbe. Take it as you will =].

Q: Will riding bike 4 times a week for about an hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours help me get a flatter tummy? thankss

Riding bikes gives you an overall cardio workout. If you keep your core tight while you are riding, it should definitley help to tone your muscles. However, if you want a more target workout for your tummy, try doing 15-25 crunches to the front, another round to each side, and one more round with your legs up (such that your legs and body are at 90 degree angle with each other). You can do this once or twice a day, maybe in the just in the mornings or in the evenings as well in addition to your bike workout. Not only will you look more fit, exercising makes you feel better as well.

You could try wearing some fancy-schmancy eye makeup to bring attention to your eyes, rather than your nose. Don't go overboard though, obviously. A thin line of top eyeliner, mascara, and a light shade of eyeshadow would be plenty =]

Q: what is the healthiest breakfast that also helps control weight?

You can always get a low-fat, low-sugar cereal and add that with low-fat milk and you'll be good to go. Pair it with a glass of 100% fruit juice and you're set. Also, I don't know if you like breakfast food (I personally don't all that much) so you could even eat a leftover hamburger patty (no bun) for breakfast. It sounds weird, but protein like that in the morning keeps you going through out the day! You could also whip yourself up some breakfast tacos using eggs, turkey bacon, and whole wheat tortillas.. mm...

Q: ok, so im 15/m and I like one of my friends (lets call her Brandi) that Ive been talking to for like a month or so and Ive gotten to know her a little bit and I have alot of fun talkign to her on the computer. well last week we decided we needed to hang out sometime and this weekend we are supposed to go see fantastic four: rise of the silver surfer. she says she likes me, but thinks her and I need to get to know each other a little bit better before she decides if she wants to be in a relationship with me. one of my ex's and closest friends is also pretty good frineds with me and thinks that Brandi and I would make a good couple so thats good. well on myspace Brandi posted a bulletin about kissing and u had to respond saying whether you would kiss the person posting it or pass and I said I would kiss her and she just repied with a smiley and typical flirting stuff. now I havent kissed anyone in close to a year because Ive been too busy to have a real relationship. Im afraid to make a move during the movie and rush things, so should I just let her make all the moves and stuff? any other helpful advice would be greatly appreciatated.

The fact that you asked this question really shows you care a lot, and that's good! A month is a pretty good amount of time to be "talking to someone" before actually dating them. Definitely go to that movie, don't even call it a date if you don't want to, but both of ya'll just need to see how you feel in that kind of situation with the other person. Have you ever hung out with her outside of school? If not, you could start out with some group get-togethers and go putt-putting or bowling or anything really. This will allow you two to be relaxed around each other without feeling the pressure of dating. If you are at the movies with her, and everything is really going well, then kiss her! If you're hesitant, don't stress either because good things come with time.

Q: So hi! I am having a sleepover with my best friend when she gets back from vacation and I need some really good ideas to take her mind off of things. I've got a pool so we can swim and of course we'll watch movies, but, thats all I can think of. She has been through alot with some other friends and she complains that her summer sucks. I wish I could take her on a trip with my family but we can't afford it. So, anyone have any ideas of things we could do together to maybe cheer her up a bit?

I don't know if it means anything but we're both 16/F and she has her license already. But don't be so quick to suggest we drive somewhere because my mom may not be up for that. But feel free to list anything you think of, even if it involves driving.

Hey girl. Don't stress. If you're tall for your age, you could be just normal! But, if you want, you can start walking around in your neighborhood. If you have an iPod, walking goes by so fast, and it becomes fun! Also, try substituting sodas (if you even drink them in the first place) with crystal light drinks. They're extremely low in calories and they taste so good (peach tea is my favorite)! Also, you can try replacing your regular carb dishes with whole wheat ones, which are high in fiber and low in fat. You can even ask your mom to start buying those types of noodles instead when she cooks spaghetti. Also, watch what snacks you're eating. It's incredibly easy to just grab a cookie and go, so try grabbing fruit or pretzels next time. Dedication is all you need. So if you stick to secure plan, you'll see results shortly. Don't push yourself though, because good things will come with time!

You can always experiment with salads like buying a dressing you've never tried, or adding cranberries or strawberries, or even putting nuts on the salad. Also try using spinach leaves or different kinds of lettuce. You might be surprised by what you come up with and it'll be really tasty!

Since it's incredibly difficult to avoid all carbs, try whole wheat products instead. They're high in fiber and taste just as good, in my opinion. You could make whole wheat lasagna, whole wheat maccaroni, or any pasta dish just by substituting with whole wheat goods (found next to the other pastas in the aisle). You could even buy whole wheat flour and try making your own pizza with just cheese and veggies!

Q: What are some good jobs for a teenage girl? I am 16 with no work experience except volunteering. I'm planning on applying to as many places as possible but need some more ideas, since a lot of places don't hire teens.

Places I have applications for: Coldstone, Starbucks, In And Out Burger.
I have already applied to Nob Hill.

From what I was aware of, stand-alone Starbucks only hired at 18. However, you should apply to the ones in grocery stores that should hire at 16. Also, you could apply at various restaurants as a hostess if you like that sort of thing. Ice cream places are good, as well as sandwich making shops. You probably don't want to work there, but McDonald's actually hires teens at young ages.
