My name is Devin Lindsey or Vinny as my sister calls me! I am 17 years old and go to Bethel Park High school. I loooove swimming along with dancing, singing, and playing softball. I also run varsity track with is alright i supose too.

My favorite colors are orange, pink, and blue. I love to be crazy and have a good time

I've had a job working for 15+ monthes so I can answer alot about that

and I know alot about relationships in general so I can be helpful with that sometimes

especially with parent child relationships

I am a very observant person and tend to know more and care about more than most my age

and I really believe in volunteering to help animals especially at shelters. Usually its not their fault that they have to live their and its usually horrible cercimstances that bring them there and I feel terrible that they can't speak for themselves and people are too caught up in spending like $500 on this cute little pure breed puppy from a breeder just into getting rich instead of giving one of these dogs another chance at life (there are usually a handful of dogs under a year old so the i want a puppy excuse doesn't work with me)

My baby is named Lainey Mae... we got her from a shelter about 2 hours away from us when she was 7 weeks old. she is now 2 years old and the center of our family. unfortunately someone was cruel enough to go down and drug up and shoot (but luckly not kill) most of the dogs plus rob the owner (just like someone did at the shelter where I volunteer) and its now shut down

Ok well I just started using tampons and I wanna know if you can wear a tampon in the shower? B/c i gotta take a shower but I like just put a tampon in an hour ago and I don't wanna waste it.

For a cell phone, does it cost money if you want to keep your provider but change your number for privacy reasons? If so, how much?

I would say its either free of very very cheap. If its the first time they prob would let you do it for free but if you do it regularly they may charge you

it really depends on your service though. if you have a pre-paid phone you most likely will have to pay to change your number but if its a big brand like t-mobile or verizon they shouldn't charge you

I'm going into highschool this year & of course i need school clothes. I'm definately not affraid to wear anything, i like funky things. Money is tight this year & i want to buy some gothic/punk/weird/creative clothing but for cheap. i live in northern ohio, do you have any ideas for where i could get really cheap clothes??

Have you tried Gabriel brothers? i'm not sure if they have one near you but i live in Pittsburgh PA and we have 2 of them and i know they are all over the country

anyways they have what i call "reject clothes" and its basically clothes that name brand places couldnt sell of had small holes in them or whatever

what they have in stores varies from store to store but i love going there and i usually can get a few outfits for under $50.

know the only thing im unsure of is if they have your style of clothes. the one i go to most often isnt in a great area so they have a mix of preppy and ghetto stuff. and by my picture you can prob tell i usually just go there to check out their hollister and abercrombie stuff but i have to tell you they are huge and im sure yuo can find something

how old do you have to be to go to the gym?

depends on the gym. I know at ballys you can be as young as 10 as long as you are with a parents and at most family gyms it doesn't matter like there is a place called healthtrax near my house and there are no age limits.

Most gyms you have to be 18 to go without a parents or an adult but usually they dont care if your 15 or 16 and you aren't with a parent as long as you are behaving yourself and not with a big group of teens

what is the minimum time i need to wear my retainer? i've had my braces off for a few months. my retainer is so uncomfortable :( is a couple of hours a day good enough?

it depends on what you are told. like I am supose to be wearing it every night and I've had my braces off for 3 years and i would say i haven't warn it in a year. If they say wear it 24/7 i would say wear it for atleast 4 hours during the day and when you sleep.

it depends on your retainer though. if you have a clear one you can tell more when your teeth are moving and adjust to that. if you have a metal one you ahve to be more careful though because your teeth can move alot without you ever knowing

just be careful because if you screw up you don't want braces again!

If the clothes from abercrombie are so...thin....why do they cost so much?
And I don't want this to sound mean, but why do so many people buy their clothes there, just for them to shrink in the laundry?

personally i buy clothes from there because of the fit. i am short and semi skinny so sometimes its hard to find nice tigheter fitting clothes. Their shirts always have a nice tight fit on me and are longer which i like. Also alot of there clothes are different from other stores and you won't find anything like it anywhere else.

and they cost alot because they are popular and people are willing to pay that. the same reason why a little coach bag is $200.

and i have never had a shrinking problem with their clothes. Acually for being 100% cotton they really don't shrink at all. I've had clothes from cheaper places like aeropostal shrink on me way more.

I think although they appear think you really are paying for quality. I mean i got a tank top there last week for $15 and it have a very cool pattern of knit to it. Something that even with a machine would have been a timely process.

Will tennis help me to stay in shape for track?

yes and know

i mean its better than nothing but isn't as intense as track is. but added tennis to a light exercise should be plenty fine!

Okay my birthday is in like 2 months. Aug 14. I don't know what i want to do. I want to be with my friends but I have plans for that night. I wouldnt mind having a party, but it cost money. what should i do but i dont want to spend a lot of money

well what i was thinking of doing is just having everyone over my house to swim, eat pizza, and watch movies, for mine which is pretty cheap.

also you can maybe get water balloons or a slip and slide and just have a crazy fun wet day with all of your friends.

maybe you could have like a pot luck dinner too. instead of your friends bringing gifts they could bring something that their grandparents like passed down from them or whatever

and if all else fails have a dance party!

I'm not positive that it is coming in August but yes a new season is coming soon

Ok so I took some people's advice and asked my grandmother if I could go on the pill and surprisingly she said YES!!!

But she said she is coming with me to the doctors.

What kind of questions will the doctor ask? like am I sexually active? I'll have to lie to the doctor and say no because she will be there.

I told her it was to regulate my period which needs to be done anyway but she said the doctor will put me on a light dosage.

Will this mean that it wont be as affective with birth control?

well first off you can't lie to them... because if you do it could pose serious problems for you

chances are they will make you be alone with them when they ask you questions and not let your grandma be there. also there is a chance they will examine you "down there" and they will be able to tell you if you are lying and in return could turn you down for birthcontrol (and yes they can do that if they don't think you are ready for it or whatever)

just when you go there tell you grandmother that you aren't comfortable talking about your period in front of her and would rather her wait in the waiting room till your done

I really want longer hair, is there anyway to speed my hair growth? I want my hair to be healthy, so how many times a week should I wash my hair? People say wash it everyday but I don't think that's good..And they tell me to wash it in cold water? Should i listen to them?

EDIT: I BELIEVE HAIR PRODUCTS ARE WORSE FOR YOUR HAIR THAN I STRAIGHTER. IVE STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS AND IT HAS NEVER LOOKED FRIED AND I DO IT EVERY SINGLE DAY. IF YOU ARE WORRIED DO IT ONLY ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. I USE A HELEN OF TROY STRAIGHTENER IF THAT HELPS. ALSO YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY HAIR PRODUCTS THAT HAVE STRONG HOLDS BUT DONT LEAVE YOUR HAIR HARD (THOSE ARE THE BAD ONES) LIKE MY MOM USES TRE SEME HAIR SPRAY AND YOU CAN'T REALLY TELL ITS THERE. WELL BEST OF LUCK (I"M GROWING MY HAIR OUT TOO! IT USED TO BE AT MY SHOULDERS, LIKE IN MY PIC, AND NOW ITS ABOUT 4 INCHES LONGER THAN THAT)

Well the more you wash your hair with shampoo the dryer it gets and the more you get split ends

you can wash your hair everyday but its better if you can wash your hair every other day

and i would invest in a deep conditioning shampoo that you use once or twice a month

and yes cold water is better it makes you hair shinier

also avoiding hair products is benificial and always washing them out before bed is good even if its just with water its better than nothing because hair spray and gel like clog you hair i guess is the best way to put it

in addition avoiding things like soda and chocolates or anything loading with sugar will make you hair healthier (eat veggies it helps your hair too)

and i know this is bad advice but if you dont straighten your hair try it.. it yes will damage you hair and make it need cut more but even if your hair is semi straight it makes your hair look longer(my hair is wavy and it adds atleast an inch to my hair)

Are energy drinks bad for you? People say after the energy wears off, it all crashes and you feel SOOO tired. And how much energy does it give you? And is Red Bull or Rockstar good brands of them?

I'll rate wicked high.

i would say yes they are... they are loaded with insane amounts of caffine and sugar than in the long run can be very harmful to your body

also they increase weight gain.

the amount of energy varies from person and ive heard readbull gives you alot of energy

ive also heard most of them taste really bad

The one big thing i recommend getting is a kit especially i childrens one (usually between $15-$40^).. i know it sounds silly but on the kids ones they always show a bunch of examples and give you alot of ideas on how to start.

Its kind of hard to give tips because every page is unique and special but i would say investing in a laminator(about $20) and gel pens is also a good idea

because the gel pens make the letter on the page pop and sparkle

and the limination saves it forever

i was always told that going on the pill would make your period stop completely (by freinds, not doctors) and lately i've been seeing a commercial about a pill that can reduce your period to only 3 days?? now, is it true that there is such a thing as a birth control pill that can make your period stop altogether, or is that just a myth?

That is completely untrue that the pill makes your period stop.. it regulates it and you get to pick when it happens sorta. what it is is you are on a pill for like 25 days that makes your body think that you are pregnant(you really aren't of course) and then for like 5 days you take a sugar pill which makes your body have your period. the one with the 3 day period is similar you just only have 3 days of sugar pills

and if you skip the sugar pill (which you can do safely for only a month or 2 in a row) you can skip your period for that month

now i must warn you- those new pills that have 3 day periods, well they are new and you are at a much higher risk for infertility in the future

I would say the easiest way to do it is follow the pictures that come in the box! i know i use tampax slims or whatever (slims are easier to put in for beginners) and it comes with colored picture instructions and it made it much easier for me!

well depending on your state they may have to tell your parents if you are under 18 to get their approval, but i would say you are better off telling them its just your period and you might be able to get it for free because insurance should cover that if they find it "medically necisary"

but if they say they won't tell then they won't.

I would say the cost varies depending on what kind you get etc. because you are going to planned parenthood it should be fairly cheap

Lately, I've been getting pretty serious with my guy friend who just happens to be 18. The problem is, I'm 15.

He, however, is still in highschool and still has one more year to complete.

well once you turn 16 it will be legal because once you are 16 you are aloud to have sex with anything, any age. i believe if you under 16 the rule is up to either 2 or 3 years older but I'm not compeletely sure, but either way nothing can be done unless you or your parents press charges against him and you would have to be on your parents side.

but as long as you aren't having sex everything anytime is legal!

I am a divorced 48-year old woman with a ten year old child and her own business, who's not very close to her family. When I was 15, I had a baby, gave the child up for adoption and never lived with my parents again. (I am the eldest child.) They divorced shortly thereafter after a troubled 17-year marriage. I moved in with my grandmother (who was my best friend) and lived with her until her death, now more than 15 years ago.

Since then, with the exception of my father, who moved 3,000 miles away, my immediate family has done everything to treat me like I don't exist. It really hurt me but was a continution of the pain I experienced from them as a child.

My mother didn't attend my college graduation, wedding or anything important to me. She rarely has anything nice to say to me. She has refused to help me out financially. Family events came and went and I wasn't invited. My siblings come in and out of town and I am the last to know. Rarely were my phone calls were returned. Our few meetings are tense.

I did therapy after going through some personal troubles. There are a lot of things going on here, but I just want to know if my strategy of seeing to my own personal happiness is a thoughtful one.

I realize that to minimize pain I cannot accept responsibility for or control the actions of others. I have good relationships with my cousins now, but this means I rarely see or talk to my mother, aunts and siblings. It's too challenging for me.

But now it's affecting my 10 year-old. He complains he doesn't have "normal" family ties. What things can I do to minimize my own pain while at the same time trying to see to it my son has a strong relationship with my family?

PS--his grandmother has always tried to have a relationship with him and I never interfere or bad mouth them, but my son still complains...

maybe instead of you contacting your family all the time have your son do it. Make your family feel like everything is for him and your family isn't doing it for you but for their grandson who they want to have contact with.

It is going to be very dificult to fix over 30 years of trouble but maybe with the innocent of your child they might open up to him more and in return try to open up to you. just always show you care. send gifts for birthdays and holidays even if you don't get a response back they might see you have changed.

and remeber it takes two to become one.. you have to keep pushing through no matter what they do or say for it to work out.. fighting back wont even solve anything

I invited my friend to go to Santa Barbara with me but her parents won't let her go until they see her report card.The problem is the report cards don't get mailed until after the trip! HOw can i get my friend to go on the trip now?

try to find the numbers to contact her teachers... im sure if you call the school (im asuming your out of school) they could prob give you the numbers to call the teacheres for grades her even give her parents temp grades or whatever

Is running a half a mile in 4 mins and 43 seconds fast regular or slow?

i would say that is between regular in slow... it depends.. if yuo don't run often and you don't do track or anything then that is just a find pace but if you run often or do track its kind of slow because most track guys i know run the mile in about that time
