Are energy drinks bad for you? People say after the energy wears off, it all crashes and you feel SOOO tired. And how much energy does it give you? And is Red Bull or Rockstar good brands of them?

It has a lot of sugar in it & it's really bad. Everyone is wayy too addicted to them too. I think occasionally its okay, though. Just don't overdue it.
beachpeach answered Monday June 19 2006, 9:54 pm: An energy drink every now and then is fine but drink them in moderation. A lot of them contain a lot of unneeded sugars that can give you a lot of energy, then make you really tired. I personally don't like to drink energy drinks just because I don't like the taste. A lot of my friends like Tab, the drink for women, and Red Bull, a lot fo them also like Monster. I haven't heard much about Rockstar. [ beachpeach's advice column | Ask beachpeach A Question ]
GC07 answered Monday June 19 2006, 7:24 pm: I like Red Bull if I need a little zing. haha. But I don't think they are the best for you - like the others have said. There's really only one thing I know for sure about energy drinks - if you drink them to fast, like chug them, it's really bad for you. You'll go like crazy for a few minutes and then you'll go to complete exhaustion/sickness sometimes. But like sip at it and it'll come strong. Red Bull does that to me. I haven't tried any others but I hear Monster is okay and Rockstar and Tab tastes like pee. hahaha. It depends on the energy drink on how much it energizes you. As for other bad qualites other than taste and the rate of how you drink it, check the nutrition labels and go from there. But I would assume that energy drinks are not real great for your body. Just like coffee is. I hope I helped and let me know how it goes! Good luck! - GC07 [ GC07's advice column | Ask GC07 A Question ]

Energy drinks' stimulating properties can boost the heart rate and blood pressure (sometimes to the point of palpitations), dehydrate the body, and, like other stimulants, prevent sleep.
Energy drinks should not be used while exercising as the combination of fluid loss from sweating and the diuretic quality of the caffeine can leave the user severely dehydrated.
Know what you're drinking. Energy drinks are not necessarily bad for you, but they shouldn't be seen as "natural alternatives" either. Some of the claims they make like "improved performance and concentration" can be misleading. If you think of them as highly-caffeinated drinks, you'll have a more accurate picture of what they are and how they affect you. You wouldn't use Mountain Dew as a sports drink. And a drink like Red Bull and vodka is more like strong coffee and whisky than anything else.
