Is it REALLY illegal?
Lately, I've been getting pretty serious with my guy friend who just happens to be 18. The problem is, I'm 15.
He, however, is still in highschool and still has one more year to complete.
Is this consider child molestation or anything like that? Could he, or I, get in trouble?
Also, I turn 16 in about a week, when I'm 16 is that still illegal?

it all matters by state. the amount of years in between your birthdays is what matters for punishment, not the age. i suggest using google to search the statutory rape laws of your state
child molestation is of a person under 12 years old i believe. but child molestation is a more severe form of satutory rape. it will be illegal for you two to have sex, the questions is only a matter of how much.

No i dont think its child molestation. I think child melestation is when there is a 6 years difference in the relationship. But you might want to be careful and get checked because i dont want anyone to be getting STD's and such a young age.

well... you are considered illegal until you are 18 and while it really isnt much of a problem, if something were to happen or your parents didnt want you to date him he can go to jail...

I doubt its illegal for you to go out with each other..but sleeping with each other is a different story, im not so sure about that one.

If someone 18 or older has sex with someone who isn't of age (16 is considered "of age in most states) then it is called statutory rape.
Here is a site that will tell you the age of consent in each state, since I don't know where you are from. It is 16 in most states. :)

i have a friend who is in the same boat as you except this guy has been her boyfriend. well he asked a friend of his who was a cop and the cop said its only illegal if you have sex. hope i helped!

Yes it is considered child molestation. He could get into trouble but I am not to sure about you really. And yes even when you turn 16 it is still illegal and it will be until you are 18. If you really love him and want to be with him then I say just keep it on the downlow and don't let anyone know about who could or would get you into trouble.

Haha. this is funny because i'm turning 16 in 3 weeks and my boyfriend is 18 too. I don't think it's child molestation unless it's something you don't want. It's still illegal once you turn 16 but it should be okay if your parents aren't bothered by it. Hope that helped

well once you turn 16 it will be legal because once you are 16 you are aloud to have sex with anything, any age. i believe if you under 16 the rule is up to either 2 or 3 years older but I'm not compeletely sure, but either way nothing can be done unless you or your parents press charges against him and you would have to be on your parents side.
but as long as you aren't having sex everything anytime is legal!

If you have sex, yes, it is technically illegal but those laws aren't really enforced if it's your boyfriend. They're mostly to protect seven-year-olds who had "consenual" sex with a teacher--because even though the seven-year-old might not have said "No.", it's still rape because he or she is underage. But if you're a couple, nobody's going to care--they won't even know unless you do it in public. And it depends on your area. Where I am, the age is 17, but I think in Hawaii it's 14.

No I don't think you can get in trouble, but it might be illegal. I know people that had that problem too. And no it wont be consider child molestation lol. Don't worry about it, you'll be fine! Good luck tho. =]
