Healthier hair?

Question Posted Monday June 19 2006, 9:50 pm

I really want longer hair, is there anyway to speed my hair growth? I want my hair to be healthy, so how many times a week should I wash my hair? People say wash it everyday but I don't think that's good..And they tell me to wash it in cold water? Should i listen to them?

Don't wash it everyday because that's not going to help. In fact it is actually bad for your hair because it could dry it out & it washes out your natural oils to keep it healthy. I'd say wash it atleast every other day. Anyway, cold water could help because warm/hot water could make the hair more vulnerable to damage so cold water would prevent that. Also just get your hair trimmed every few weeks or every month to make sure the split ends are cut off. There isn't much that you can do except wait. Yes, there are ways to make your hair healthier so it can grow a little faster, but if you're trying to get like 2 more inches of hair in a small amount of time, it's not going to happen. I hope that I helped in some way & good luck growing your hair lol! :]

Washing your hair in cold water just makes your hair APPEAR more healthy and shiny. For you hair to grow you have a few options. Always keep your split ends cut because not doing it can actually slow hair growth by making all your ends split. Try taking something like a pre~natal vitmain they make your hair and nails grow really fast. also you can stuimulate your scalp, this helps hair grow also.

EDIT: I BELIEVE HAIR PRODUCTS ARE WORSE FOR YOUR HAIR THAN I STRAIGHTER. IVE STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS AND IT HAS NEVER LOOKED FRIED AND I DO IT EVERY SINGLE DAY. IF YOU ARE WORRIED DO IT ONLY ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. I USE A HELEN OF TROY STRAIGHTENER IF THAT HELPS. ALSO YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY HAIR PRODUCTS THAT HAVE STRONG HOLDS BUT DONT LEAVE YOUR HAIR HARD (THOSE ARE THE BAD ONES) LIKE MY MOM USES TRE SEME HAIR SPRAY AND YOU CAN'T REALLY TELL ITS THERE. WELL BEST OF LUCK (I"M GROWING MY HAIR OUT TOO! IT USED TO BE AT MY SHOULDERS, LIKE IN MY PIC, AND NOW ITS ABOUT 4 INCHES LONGER THAN THAT)

Well the more you wash your hair with shampoo the dryer it gets and the more you get split ends

you can wash your hair everyday but its better if you can wash your hair every other day

and i would invest in a deep conditioning shampoo that you use once or twice a month

and yes cold water is better it makes you hair shinier

also avoiding hair products is benificial and always washing them out before bed is good even if its just with water its better than nothing because hair spray and gel like clog you hair i guess is the best way to put it

in addition avoiding things like soda and chocolates or anything loading with sugar will make you hair healthier (eat veggies it helps your hair too)

and i know this is bad advice but if you dont straighten your hair try it.. it yes will damage you hair and make it need cut more but even if your hair is semi straight it makes your hair look longer(my hair is wavy and it adds atleast an inch to my hair)

A shampoo and conditioner that helped me grow my hair longer quicker is Garnier Frutis - Long and Strong. Also try the gel, that works well too. Also, you can get your hair trimmed every month to month and a half ish. The number of times you should wash your hair should depend on how oily your hair can get. I need to shower almost every day sometimes every other day. Most people wash their hair everyday but its actually healthier to shower every other day. It saves your natural healthy oils to your hair so your hair doesn't dry out. If you have really oily hair, I would wash it every day probably. You could probably get away with everyother day though. If you don't have very oily hair, then lessen the times you shower, unless you are dirty or go to the pool or beach because chlorine and/or sea water can dry out your hair incredibly and if you're a blonde - turn your hair green. ew. haha. I don't really know much about the cold water thing so I can't really help you too much there. But if you want a reliable source, look online or go to a salon and ask the people there. They would definately know. I hope that I helped and let me know how it goes! Good luck! - GC07

Get your hair trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks to get rid of dead ends. Then, try to rub your scalp with the shampoo in the shower for about two minutes. Washing your ahir in cold water doesn't do anythihgn because your hair is dead and it wont make hair any shinier. Pantene Restoratives makes a strengthening spray that will make hair healthier. Don't brush your hair when you get out of the shower, comb it with a wide toothed comb. Brush your (dry) hair from the roots with a boar bristle brush if you can and if your shampoo is very moisturizing and you have normal to oily hair, try every other day but if your scalp is dry, a moisturizing shampoo is ok. If you have normal shampoo you can wash your ahir every day if you want or every other day it shouldn't matter that much. Pretty much if your hair feels gross or oily wash it (regardless wash it every 2-3 days). SOme shampoos (Mane n' Tail) are made to grow hair faster.

Get your hair trimmed often. It gets rid of split ends. Keep your scalp healthy like if you go swimming and you have a part in your hair put sunscreen on it. That should make you hair grow a bit faster (or so I've heard) and it will help your hair stay healthy. Washing your hair everyday washes away natural oils that your hair needs. Try washing it every 2-3 days. Rinsing with cold water will make your hair shinier.

hope I helped
