I like fairies (thus why I am wearing fairy wings in the picture). Good grammar rocks, too. It doesn't have to be perfect but I get frustrated when people completely disregard it. I like every color except pink. I hate the wind. Sometimes, I carry around a little teddy bear I found at an antique store. His name is Robert. I dress very eccentrically. It's not unusual for me to wear a prairie dress one day and a Mod dress (think Austin powers) the next. I don't dye my hair, or wear much make-up. I think it's sad that no one puts any emphasis on natural beauty anymore. I think it's a good thing to be open and educated about sex and other issues that are considered taboo. I have a hard time seeing where homophobics are coming from.

ive had my period since i was 9 so thats 6 years now.
the thing is ive tried using tampons like all the time but everytime i still leak.
ive tried different absorbances, different sizes, different makes ive tried everything but still i leak! i spent my whole holiday in and out of the pool nipping to the loo every half hour to change. Surely that isnt right?
i know i was putting them in right each time so its nothing to do with that.
does any one know why this could be?

You probably just have a really heavy flow. I suggest wearing a pad or panty liner with your tampon. That way, you won't have to worry about your underwear getting ruined every time you wear a tampon. You also might want to talk to a doctor about the heaviness of your period. Birth control can lighten the flow a little bit and then you won't leak as much.

13/m. I have a sister who is 14. Where we live, stuff happens slowly. It's not like in NYC where everyone loses their virginity at, like 13. My sister finally got her first boyfriend. I'm not too worried about that. But, they're taking everything too fast: one week, they're dating. Another week, they're holding hands. This may not seem like much to you, but where I live it is. And now yesterday---they've been together 2 months, tops---they both had their first kiss.
I've been trying to get more info, but she's really private about this. I asked her if it was just a peck or if she made out, and she said that it was about 5 seconds. Is that long for a first kiss? And I asked her when, and she showed me a ring that she got from him. Unfortunately, I suck at taking hints, so I still don't get it.
She doesn't want to tell anyone about anything that happens. My other sister and my parents are still completely unaware that they've done so much as hold hands, and she doubts she'll tell them about kissing any time soon.
So, I was just wondering, is this too fast, am I worrying too much, will she be turning into a sex-obsessed slut any time soon, and how can I get her to communicate more? It can go either way, red or brown. You probably started it. Wear a pad so that if you did start it you don't leak everywhere.

Could this be a possible sign of a STD?
I have this open, gaping wound in my mouth. It's more like a hole inside my mouth. A lot of the time it's white, but you can see it going into my mouth.
I've been sexually active, but not in the past month and this has just appeared in the last week.
My boyfriend I am 99.99% sure that he is STD free because I'm the only one he's bee sexually active with.
Could this just be a severe canker sore? Or possibly I bit my lip and didn't remember? Or is there a chance it's a STD.
If you have any idea what an oral STD might look like, I'd like to know that too.

It sounds like a canker sore to me, but if it doesn't go away soon and continues to be painful you might want to see a doctor about it...

These people sound like they're just trying to scare you. Yeah, it could be an STD, but I definitely have had that happen to me before and I have no STD's. (had tests, etc) ...Sometimes, during and after sex, the vagina just gets irritated because not enough natural lubricant (what makes someone "wet") is there and the friction causes a burning sensation. Sometimes the vagina will just be more sensitive than it has been in other experiences. To avoid this, make sure there's always foreplay and condom-friendly lubricant! (assuming that you might be using condoms in the future...)

I have to go for my first "girly" check up alone because I am having problems at school and they are being slowly sorted out but my parents know nothign about it but my health is going down. What I want to know is during this check up do they really look at your vagina and boobs and what do they do to them? Also do they do anythign to your bum? What they do during one of these check-ups sounds really strange and awkward, but it really isn't so bad. To make sure there are no strange lumps on your boobs, they briefly expose them and poke around at them a bit. It takes all of 30 seconds, if that, then they cover them back up with the gown. They also look at your vagina. You put your feet on these stirrups so that your legs are spread apart the whole time. They put something in your vagina to hold it open, but it's not very big and as long as you let yourself relax it shouldn't be that uncomfortable, just a bit cold since it's metal. They put a q-tip like thing up there to get a cell sample so they can test it to see that everything is fine and normal. They don't do anything to your butt, though.
They know that for younger girls this experience can be really uncomfortable and strange so they're usually pretty gentle and understanding. Feel free to ask questions. Anytime they're doing something you don't understand, ask. I went when I was 15 for the first time and it really wasn't so bad... I came out of it wondering what all the hype was about and why girls get so scared about it. Just make sure to relax and you'll be fine! :)

Try the sequel to a child called it (just google the authors name or put the name into amazon and I'm sure you can find it) or read "the perks of being a wallflower". "Don't you dare read this, mrs. dumphrey" is also a good one and so is "speak." Most of these can be found in the young adult section at any major book store.

Try to find someone in one of your classes to talk to. Talk to them about homework, or compliment something they're wearing or something on their binder. Joining clubs is also a good way to meet new people.

Usually i dont come here unless it's a TOTAL emergency--sadly this is one of those times. My brother, Dustin is in love with this girl, Samantha. Now, my brother lives in Lousiville, TX and she lives in Houston (it's 6 hours away). But Dustin dosent do long distance relationships because he cant see her in real life, he cant kiss her, he cant hold her, etc. So he feels that he cant go out with her. Now, Samantha and her best friend told him that Dustin is Samantha's only reason to live, and she'll probably kill herself without Dustin. So Dustin, NEVER cries--and he's crying. Dustin tried to cut himself last night, but couldnt because his blade wasnt sharp. So i ask of you all, wtf should we all do? I mean, it's a life or death situation for both of them, and i dont want ANYONE dying here, so it's really hard for me to figure this out on my own. Today, I was practicing for my audition, and my voice went wacko. I had to strain to sing the higher notes, and usually I can sing high notes very well. It sounded all squeaky and bad. What should I do?! Everyone says "drink tea." What does tea do? Is it just that my voice is tired, or what? I'm a little freaked out right now

Put yourself on vocal rest for a little bit. Herbal tea (WITHOUT caffiene) soothes your vocal chords and relaxes them. I suggest adding lemon and honey to the tea, as they serve the same purpose. Give yourself a break, your voice is probably just a little worn out. Good luck!

He's an 18 year old guy. Not to overgeneralize here, but 18 year old guys mostly want to be sexually active. You just bet would be to talk to him about it! I'd suggest waiting significantly longer than 3 days before actually having sex with him though...wouldn't be the smartest thing to do just yet...

Your family doesn't sound very understanding, and it's all really shitty, but just try to keep in mind that they are your family and they'll always be around, whereas, no matter how much you love this guy, it's never a given that a boy you meet will always be there. Regardless, I know in your situation I probably would have snuck around and dated him anyway if I cared about him so much and I knew he cared about me a lot, and he seems to be really into the relationship. I'm not saying to do that. It's respectable to do what your parents want, but yeah... I just know what's what I'd do.

The last one I went to completely void of booze was awesome... It was for prom... but I really couldn't tell you what happened to make it so great, it was just a good combination of people. My friend had these candy bar pillows and we kept having massive pillow fights with them, but not in the girly way. We kept some stand up comedy on in the background and ate a lot of pizza and food.
