singing

Question Posted Thursday December 22 2005, 2:49 pm

Today, I was practicing for my audition, and my voice went wacko. I had to strain to sing the higher notes, and usually I can sing high notes very well. It sounded all squeaky and bad. What should I do?! Everyone says "drink tea." What does tea do? Is it just that my voice is tired, or what? I'm a little freaked out right now

Thanks

Cheyenne

Singing exercizes! They work really well for keeping your voice healthy, you need to take care of your voice you could be straining it. Tea just clears your vocal chords, it sounds to me like you just need to warm up more before singing.

Actually, its supposed to be tea with honey. The honey glazes your throat which makes your voice come out better.Hope I helped! And good luck.

Tea with honey and lemon or salt water will elp your vocal chords. Sip through an imaginary straw when you breathe and don't let your shoulders rise, and hold your breath as you sing (also known as compression). If this doesn't help I don't know what will. Good luck on your audition! <3

Tea calms and relaxes you. Maybe you've just been practicing a little too much slow it down a bit down force yourself to go higher than you can. Do some breathing excercises. Maybe your just nervous.

Put yourself on vocal rest for a little bit. Herbal tea (WITHOUT caffiene) soothes your vocal chords and relaxes them. I suggest adding lemon and honey to the tea, as they serve the same purpose. Give yourself a break, your voice is probably just a little worn out. Good luck!
