Today, I was practicing for my audition, and my voice went wacko. I had to strain to sing the higher notes, and usually I can sing high notes very well. It sounded all squeaky and bad. What should I do?! Everyone says "drink tea." What does tea do? Is it just that my voice is tired, or what? I'm a little freaked out right now

Sip through an imaginary straw when you breathe and don't let your shoulders rise, and hold your breath as you sing (also known as compression). If this doesn't help I don't know what will. Good luck on your audition! <3 [ Igotamonopoly's advice column | Ask Igotamonopoly A Question ]

Maybe you've just been practicing a little too much slow it down a bit down force yourself to go higher than you can. Do some breathing excercises. Maybe your just nervous. LadyGoodman answered Thursday December 22 2005, 2:52 pm: Put yourself on vocal rest for a little bit. Herbal tea (WITHOUT caffiene) soothes your vocal chords and relaxes them. I suggest adding lemon and honey to the tea, as they serve the same purpose. Give yourself a break, your voice is probably just a little worn out. Good luck!
