There are books that come after "a child called it" they're in a series. i'm not sure what the titles are but they tell about the rest of his life and are pretty good. theres also this one book that i strongly reccomend you read..its about a girl who's dad raped her and i think its called 'hush' but im not sure if i find it ill send you something saying what it is because im not sure thats what its called but its really good. other good books are
"speak" - about a girl who is raped by someone at a party and called the cops but that ended up getting the party busted up and she ran home without speaking to the cops (all of this happened in the summer) so when she goes back to school all the kids make fun of her and hate her but they don't know what happened to her.
"crank" - im not finished reading this one but its good so far. its about a girl who's battleing with a cocain addiction
"cut"- really good book about a girl who cuts herself and has to get help.
hope i helped and if i figure out the title of that 1 book ill send something to ya.

Mackenzie answered Saturday December 24 2005, 11:05 am:
I'm not one for reading, but I can personally recommend:

- Anything by V.C. Andrews. Particularly "Flowers In The Attic" [that one is also a movie, so enjoy the book.. then enjoy the movie]

- Anything by Mary Downing Hahn!! Particularly "Daphne's Book" and "Jellyfish". Mary Downing Hahn is my absolutely favorite author. I depise reading, to be honest, so if an author can get me to pick up a book.. they must be great, but to have me never be able to put it down.. says a lot!

- Also, if you haven't yet Robert C O'Brien's "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH", I definitely suggest doing so. It's a classic! All of those in the series [3, I believe] are all wonderful.

Well I have a few books.

Cut- I don't know who it's by. But it's about this girl who cuts. It is really quite good. I know it's not quite what you're looking for, but it's somewhere in that range.

Doorknobs- This is a book about a girl with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Dissorder) and she does ALOT of wierd things. And later in the book her mom starts to get mean to her. And fed up. Agian it's not quite what your looking for but still a wonderful book.

Check out 'Fight Club' and 'Survivor' by Chuck Palahniuk. I recommend Survivor, first.

Okay. I dont know what gender or age you are, but I will list some books that I'm into.

Gossip girl novels. This whole series is good. I got addicted. They are about a group of rich, beautiful people living in new york. The girls are mean and nasty to each other. Theres a lot of sex, drugs, alcohol, and arguments in it. If you liked the movie mean girls, then you'll looooove these. Even if you didn't, these books are 4390489320 times better anyways. I'd at least give the first a chance if you are into this at all.

The A-List. Somewhat Like Gossip girls, but not as nasty. These are a little toned down, but still good.

Summer Boys, and Next summer. These are about a group of girl cousins that spend the summer together in cabins. Their relationships with guys and each other is the plot of these books.

Go Ask Alice. Its a diary of an anonymous teen girl living in the 70s(Im pretty sure its the 70s...). Its about her downfall and struggle with a life on drugs.

Harry Potter series. These are good because there is soo much detail. It goes beyond the movies. I wont describe because Im sure youve heard of them.

A series of unfortunate events. These books follow 3 orphan siblings as they try to escape a man out for their fortune that their deceased parents left for them once they turn 18. One bad thing after another happens to them. I suppose they could be depressing, but theyre pretty good.

The Seance. Its a mystery book about a girl who attends a seance in an unforgiving town. Erie things happen at the seance. Then the girls that attended start dying, and they have to figure out whats going on before another girl is killed.

The kidnapping of christina lattimore. This one is really good in my opinion. Its by the same author of the seance. Its about a girl, christina, who is kidnapped and held for ransom to be paid by her rich grandmother. After she is returned, she is accused of staging her own kidnapping to get the money for herself. She has to prove her innosence to cops, friends, and even her parents.

To kill a mockingbird. Its classic, but its super good. It has a great message, and a good storyline. I liked it, even though I dislike many of the other assigned books from school.

Good luck with reading. If you want more suggestions, I'd be glad to give you more. Because If these dont suit you, then that really sucks lol. So I hope I helped!

LadyGoodman answered Thursday December 22 2005, 8:37 pm:
Try the sequel to a child called it (just google the authors name or put the name into amazon and I'm sure you can find it) or read "the perks of being a wallflower". "Don't you dare read this, mrs. dumphrey" is also a good one and so is "speak." Most of these can be found in the young adult section at any major book store.
