It means to change strategy or plans. It can also mean to prevent someone from plotting something against you then using their plan or against them. Such as someone is about to pull a prank on you and before the prank can be pulled, you find out and pull a prank on them. You've then turned the table.

ok here is the story. i met a cute (older by like 2 years)guy in one of my classes. we made that wierd akward eye connection thing where you tense up and don't know what to say. anyway after class he started talking to me and he had a good vibe going, (tip: i was the only girl in my class because it was a technology class) and he was so easy to talk to. the next day we start talking and flirting (it was really obvious) and he asks me for my email and if i had a man (boyfriend). i said no and gave him my email. here's the delema, that day after my classes i stayed at the school for the newspaper that i'm apart of and i saw him and said hi and stuff. when i left the school i saw him sitting on a bench with a girl on his lap. i'm not sure if that was just an affectionate friend or a girlfriend. if that was his girl i would still want to know him as a friend but she might not be. well i still don't know him well but i don't want to start hanging with him and flirting just to be shot down and finding out he had a girl and played with my emotions...what should i do?
Sounds like a player. You best bet is not to get involved without further information. I never been affectionate with my lady friends like that, unless something was there. It's BS too if he says she likes him and he doesn't like her. That's sure not a way to say, "hey I don't like you, come sit on my lap."
Although, it could have been totally innocent. Just ask him who she was. If he gives you some asinine excuse then forget about it.

in my school, between all of the people i know, they know me as the 'tomboy' .

Interesting... Being a tomboy has to be difficult for girls at your age. My wife, who was raised by her dad, is a tomboy. It's actually a good thing because there's no nagging when football is on and she's a cheap date, doesn't mind going to Taco Bell for dinner. She doesn't mind hanging around when my guy friends are over either. Only thing that bugs me is her wearing my damned shirts all the time!
To answer your question, you do "stuff" for him because you care. There's a big difference in having romantic feelings for someone and caring for someone's wellbeing. You just sound like your more mature for you age and understand there is a difference too, it's all about growing up.

Ask the counselor at the college you plan on attending about scholarship programs. Ask what it takes to qualify.

Ok well my mom is an immigrant but i'm not. and she's been telling me about this lady at her work who is constantly like..i can't explain it, mocking her? Rudely teasing her? About some things but the most one i'm having issues with is her voice. She says that she makes rude jeers like "i'm sorry, WHAT?!" like in a rude way.
My mom's been living in canada for about 25 years now. She knows perfect english but ti's just that her voice and thick accent doesn't make her appear so. I don't know if there's anything they can do. She isn't exactly smart because she didn't go to school, she was a refugee so she isn't very smart form the education and the work isn't that great. There was a vice-president or high worker that was similar to the girl but he was fired for unknown reasons. I want to come to her work and just slap the bitch out of there but I obviously can't do that.

Okay, so. This may be long but bear with me.
Blake and Ryan are both 17, and I am 15.
My friend Blake, is best friends with this boy Ryan. I'm really good friends with Ryan too. Blake has had a really large crush on me for the better part of 2007, and still has it now. Ryan and I really have strong feelings for each other. We've hung out twice without Blake and both times have been astounding. We've kissed a few times, and they've all been so amazing and we've only made out once. We get along really great and he's the sweetest boy ever. We went to the fair yesterday, and he won me a stuffed dog and we kissed on the ferris wheel and it was really truly great.
Now, Blake says that he "loves" me. But he won't let Ryan and I have a relationship. He doesn't even want us to be friends. It really hurts, because Ryan and i really have strong feelings and would like to act upon them. And we really just don't know what to do about Blake. He's being incredibly irrational. He's one of those people who wants everything his way. He's mad that Ryan and I like each other, he thinks that Ryan can't like me if he likes me because they're friends. But i think that Blake should let Ryan and I have a relationship if he really cared, because he should want us to be happy.
And on top of that, Blake is trying to get with Ryan's ex as well. So not only is he being irrational, but hypocritical as well.
My question is, what do i do about Blake and Ryan? Ryan and I don't want to have to date secretly, and we want blake to be happy too because we're his friends. But in doing so we can't do what we want to do. It's like we're taking too much time pleasing him that we can't even have fun.
What should i do?
Or you could just not date either of them and remain just friends. What would happen if you and Ryan went out and after a few months you decide it's not going to work? Will you have lost both friends then? You are 15 now and relationships come and go but a good friends are tough to come by.

I need a car, but my parents refuse to buy one for me (they can afford it, though, but they absolutely refuse).
If I were to get a car, I would have to pay for the car, the insurance, the gas... EVERYTHING.
I drive about 300 miles a week, most of it on freeways, so I need a car that has airbags, and is safe in general to drive, and has very good breaks.
I have two jobs, one of them my hours are scattered and unpredictable, the other its more predictable; I earn about 400 dollars a month, then some (it really just depends how much.. sometimes 20, sometimes 300, sometimes 0 at my other unpredictable job)
My question(s):
What type of car should I get, that doesn't eat too much gas, like what's a good model?
Any general advice on buying a used car? I know NOTHING about them.
I will be paying about 200 bucks for my car insurance a month, and gas here costs about 2.30 per gallon. Can I still afford to have a car? I mean I'll have to be making monthly payments and stuff when to pay off my car, right? Keep in mind I drive 300 miles per week.
So, in short, keeping in mind all the details, what car should I get for what price? Or if you don't know about what car, what should be my price range?
My parents aren't helping me at all in this, including estimating my price range.

I think your folks are probably trying to teach you a life lesson. But look at you, you are working on getting it done! First off if you plan on buying from a used car lot you probably wont get into a car with so little income. Besides all of that car lots are looking to turn a good profit and usually jack the prices up by 100% or more. Good idea is to save up at least 1500 dollars or more (more is always better) and buy a car out right. Save up 1500, buy a car for 1000 and with the left overs get it tagged and inspected and insurance. The left over can be saved for gas or any minor repairs the car may need or a tune up. Also, 200 per month is a lot for insurance. I'd see if your parents couldn't add you to their insurance and you pay the difference. You can find car ads by going to your local craigslist.org or searching the local classifieds of your paper. Good used cars are Hondas and Chevys.

so i had a dream that i had a baby, in my dream my baby was like 1 or 2 years old i think. i was so happy, even though im only 15, i was ecstatic to have my own baby, he was adorable. which i dont think is true in real life. i love babies and i am excited to have one, but not for a long time. then last night i had a dream that i was pregnant, and super excited again. i have this thing where sometimes what i think about, comes true, honestly. my mom and grandma had it too. like its not like we can tell the future or anything, but lots of times were talking about something or something happens, that i previously dreamed or thought about. does this possibly have anything to do with my pregnant dreams? i am worried it means something will happen, or whatever. any advice? thanks much! btw: i currently am not sexually active, but am on birth control, for other reasons, if that helps =]
I think it's perfectly normal for people of your age to have dreams of being pregnant or having kids. After all, our future depends on procreating. It's a perfectly normal and healthy thing. When we are starting to turn into adults we start having desires to procreate. During puberty our bodies start to change and are sex organs start to mature and that can affect our dreams as well. I think too that...if I understand you correctly you, your mom and grandma share common experiences, even though they may only become aware in dreams. I'd chalk this up to having something in common with them and nothing more than a coincidence. My only word of advice is, to practice safe sex and no matter how "hot" you think the guy is, unless you are financially responsible to take care of a child then don't have sex! Other than that, children are a real joy. I also have two wonderful kids of my own.

Over the weekend I got a random bruise on the back of my upper leg. At first it was so painful it hurt to walk. It stopped hurting but now it looks like its getting bigger. I don't remember ever doing anything to hurt myself either. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
If you have sleeping problems, such as a tosser and turner that could very well explain the bruises. I get them sometimes myself. Hell, I even dislocated my jaw once before, only because I toss and turn in the night. If you are concerned, yes seek professional medical advice. If you are doing something in your sleep, they should be able to provide you with a prescribed sedative.

I guess this is really not an answer to your question but have you thought about outsourcing? You might have better luck telecommuting. Everyone knows the World's best artist come from Italy. Word of advice, any job that has you pay them an advancement before you work is a scam. Only exception to the rule is training, which should be reimbursed after your first paycheck. Also, if you haven't and I am sure you already have. Build your profile up. If you know anything about web design, get yourself a site and showcase some of your work. Any potential employers can reference your work online, especially if you telecommute, AKA work from home.
