A: Eczema is a type of chronic rash, I think. A girl in my class has it really bad. She gets a special kind of medicated lotion to put on it, and it stops itching/clears up in a couple of days. If you have eczema, try visiting your doctor and asking him to check it out for you. He can probably prescribe some good medicine for you. I hope this advice helps!

Q: My friend was raped by a bunch of guys. Now she's pregnant and she also has AIDS because of them. She's anemic which means she's already really tired all the time and gets short of breathe really easily. Well lately she's been really tired, like more than usual and it's really scaring me. Her parents don't know about what happened to her, they really don't care about her she's basically living with me. My parents take care of her and we give her a place to stay. She has a job but lately she's been skipping it and she just seems really tired. It's like she's a completely different person. She'll usually try to do things and not let the fact that she's anemic stop her but she hasn't been doing anything lately and she seems really sick. She says that it's just her anemia but I'm not really sure. My question is could she just be like this because of the anemia or could it be something else? I don't know that much about AIDS so could she be dying from it and that's why she seems so exhausted and sick all the time?
Please help me I'm really worried about her.

A: AIDS is Accute(?) Immune Deficiency Syndrome, which basically causes your immune system to shut down. AIDS combined with anemia AND pregnancy must be terribly hard on her. Anemia causes "bad blood," because the blood can't carry as many nutrients as it needs to keep your body healthy. While this is going on, AIDS is in the process of keeping her immune system from functioning properly. I feel so sorry for her and you because it must be so hard on her. She is probably slowly losing the battle with the disease.

To keep her spirits up, encourage her. Do little things "just because" and spend time with her. She probably doesn't have a whole lot longer to spend with you here, so if you believe, talk to her about God, and His promise of eternal life. This will bring her comfort beyond your comprehension if she's a Christian, because she will remember she has nothing to fear.

Please, spend your time with her wisely. Comfort her, and don't worry about what's going to happen.

Q: what color eyeshadow brings out dark brown eyes on a girl with dark brown hair and tan skin?

A: Jade green is a beautiful color. Try splashing a bit of that color on your eyes to bring out any speckles in your peepers. I'm sure it'll look lovely.

Q: I dont know what to do! My scale says I'm 123,and my mom says its accurate,but I think I weigh a lot more! I'm 13, and i dont know what to do. And i wanna wear a bikini this summer. Any suggestions about exercising?

A: Eat less. Excersize more. Guaranteed weight-loss. Try eating a variety of fruits and vegetables such as apples, oranges, broccoli, carrots, etc. Eat some meats, but lean ones. Meats like chicken and some beef are good for you. Try eating fish too. Salmon and flounder are really nice.

Once you're eating right, try doing some sort of cardioaerobic exercise. Running is the best type of excersize for weight-loss. Just run a little bit each day. All it takes is ten or fifteen minutes each day for a few weeks to get rid of those few extra pounds.

Q: Ha, this is a really weird question, but my friend and I were talking about a show that we used to watch when we were younger on Nickolodeon. In this show, the characters were always using the phrase "Don't hold your breath!" Neither of us can remember what show it is from!! I believe that the two characters were African-American brothers, but am not for sure. If you have any idea what it is please answer!

A: Hey, nice to meet you! :) I've never had my hair highlighted, but I do know that you should DEFINITELY have an older adult/professional do your hair. Things can go horribly wrong if someone inexperienced tries to do anything to it. If you want to have natural highlights fast, get some Sun-In or diluted lemon juice and streak it through your hair before going outside on a sunny day. I have auburnish hair and it turns out a nice strawberry color. Hope that works for you until you can find professional help!

Q: well ive been with my boyfriend for 2 months. we're both 14 and pretty conservative. im not sure what everyone else does but im not sure where we should be in our relationship. if you have any experience with this at all, any help is greatly appreciated.

A: Where you should be? Why should there be a certain "normal" timeline for a relationship? Go at your own pace (so long as it's not too fast) and don't just do things because other people say that's what's "normal" in a relationship. The "normal" relationship now is quite scary, so don't just go with the crowd.

My boyfriend and I didn't kiss until we had been together for seven months, and he and I were both eachother's first boyfriend/girlfriend. Take things slow and just let things happen. They will happen when the time is right, so don't rush into anything. He and I have been together for a year and a month now, so I consider myself somewhat experienced with relationships. Just take it slow and enjoy the little bit of childhood you have left!

Q: My mom is bananas.

She doesn't listen to me. Ever. Like, for example, today, I asked her to pick me up a block away from school. She was standing RIGHT out front, so I told her how appalled I was at her behavior and she cancelled my manicure. Her excuse was 'You have a friend'. Yeah, a friend that I carpool with every day.

I always get in trouble, and this summer is going to be full of fun, so i need ways to deal witht his. Thanks!

A: Maybe you shouldn't be so embarassed of your mom? Just a suggestion. I mean, if my mom was nice enough to pick me up at school AND set up an appointment for a manicure, I wouldn't mind where she picked me up. Jesus, kids nowadays are so ungrateful.

Anyways, how is she bananas? I guess cancelling your manicure was a little off on her part, but what was her reason for doing it? If you actually just said quietly that you wanted her to pick you up a block away from now on, I can understand why you think she's bananas. But if you yelled at her, then that's your fault.

What're you always getting in trouble for? Maybe you should try being nice and not getting in trouble so you CAN have fun this summer. Once again, just a suggestion on my part.

To sum it all up: Sure, parents can be "embarassing" some times, but they love you and go way out of their way to do stuff for you. Appreciate that.

A: Well, how old are you? Obviously, it's not very smart to have sex if you're not a responsible adult or married. Your body could still be adjusting after having sex, but if I were you I'd get a pregnancy test or two and take them. I honestly hope you're not pregnant, because from your question I'm guessing you're a teenager who doesn't know much about pregnancy/motherhood. You shouldn't have to at your age, but people nowadays...Anyway. Take a pregnancy test. See your doctor. Be smart, and don't have sex any more.

I can't control your actions, so do what you will. I do advise you to get proper birth control (such as the pill) AND use a condom if you are going to be sexually active. However, remember that the only 100% effective form of birth control is abstinence.
