Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?

advice

i had a dream recently that i went to get a tarot reading done. The psychic had told me that i will be dating greg, or will already be dating him, on his birthday, which is in november. All these images of us together flooded into my head and i awoke confused.

you see i have had feelings for that boy greg for 6 months. however i realised that i didn't stand a chance with him, so for the last two months i had managed to get over him. only to have that strange dream happen. i tried ignoring it, as i was interested in someone else at the time it happened. Things didnt work out between me and this other guy and before i knew it i was back to being confused and constantly have images from that dream sewn into my mind. greg's birthday is coming up in november too, which is odd because most of my dreams relate to whats happening at the moment or in the past, not two months into the future. what does my dream mean?

I'm sorry, but anyone who's studied psychology can tell you that dreams don't mean a thing. They're simply your brain processing information from your day and deciding what to store in your memory- just in a really strange way. In fact, every night you have tons of dreams that you don't remember because they're irrelevant- you just remember this one because there's an emotional tie.

All it means is that you had a thought about Greg during the day sometime (or even just recently)- even if you don't remember it. Dreams aren't predictors of the future or anything. You're best off continuing to get over him. Best of luck.

I was thinking about chips the other day and how they're made. They're just like seasoned, salted, dehydrated potato slices, right? So, can I make those at home some way or do the factories do something special? I was thinking it would be so cool to make your own chips and I'd LOVE do to that if anybody knows how...

My boyfriend and I are sexually active. The sex is alright, but I noticed he has never gone down on me, although I frequently go down on him. So today I called him out on it, "I said do you not go down on girls?" He said that he didn't, its something that girls should do, but for a guy to do that for a girl is not acceptable.

Here are some general ideas-
A bronzed (remember to put it under your cheekbones, not on your cheeks!), glowy face. Using a highlighting cream or powder on the tops of your cheekbones would look pretty. Then some kind of dark, smoky eye- with either gold or silver in it, depending on what's on the dress. My favorite makeup artist, Kandee Johnson, has a great tutorial on this:

(She tends to use brands like MAC, but it's pretty easy to find cheap drugstore versions of the same colors.)
If you're pretty comfortable with makeup, false eyelashes look really pretty for special occasions. (Here's how to put them on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzxFgOzoPrM).
For your lips, use a peach color lip stain, so your color stays, and a nude gloss on top.
A half-up curly hairdo would look pretty with this.

Or, if you're really good at makeup, you could do a really cool blue smoky eye, using a color just like the one on the dress:

I know it looks crazy bright, but if you do it right, it'll just be a subtle pop of color.

Here's how.
1) Prime your lid. (Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance are the best.)
2) Using a contouring brush, apply a soft neutral brown, 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone, into the crease.
3) Apply the bright blue on the lid, using a little at a time, and blending into the brown.
4) Place a deep, dark black shadow with a blue undertone on the outer third of the lid. Blend.

5) Line your eyes, including waterline, with black, then go over it with the black shadow on a liner brush. This will really help it stay in place.
5) Take a shimmery white and apply under the browbone and in the inner corner of the eye, blending slightly into the inner third of the lid.
6) Blend with a fluffy brush until seamless.
7) Curl lashes and apply mascara and/or falsies.

Shoes::
Since this is a really unique, funky dress, you can do something different than traditional formal shoes.
I think a metallic color (again, whatever's on the dress- silver, gold, or bronze) would look really cool. Maybe something like this:

Accessories::
I actually really like how they styled the dress for that picture. Wear one big, bold accessory- like that necklace she's wearing, or maybe a similar bracelet, bold bangle, or big earrings. A metallic or black bag.

where would i get some? i've had insomnia for a long time and i don't like taking sleeping pills because that builds up an tolerance.

You can buy them at Walmart/Target, the drugstore, or a health food store. Look for the extended-release kind, so you can stay asleep.

Be careful, though, you can just as easily get dependent on melatonin as a regular sleeping pill.

If you don't have their whole album, get it, it's amazing. Young Galaxy is a band that sounds similar...what might help you with this is using pandora.com.

I wanted to be put on birth control pills and I went to my doctor like suggested. He gave me the pills and explained about them but said I needed to be on them for at least 1 full month before they became completely effective and I don't end up pregnant. When I asked here before somebody said they are effective immediately. I told my doctor that somebody said they were effective immediately and slightly laughed and was like I hate how teens get these stupid rumors and something like that's how so many girls wind up pregnant. Who is right? My doctor or you guys?

Your doctor has been through years of medical school...on the other hand, you need zero qualifications to have an account on Advicenators. Inaccurate information can easily be given out here by the misinformed. Birth control pills generally are not as effective until you've been on them a month, it usually says it in the fine print, your doctor is right.

So my girlfriend and i have been dating for almost a year know and before now she had hung out with me a ton like almost everyday possible. I'm not saying thats all we did, we definately had some free time and hung out with our bros or girls. but just now she didn't hang out with me this whole week and like was like i'm just out don't worry. She is trying to manipulate you and make you jealosu, which is never a good sign. It's probably her way of telling you she wants more attention- however, the fact that she can't just tell you that is not good. You need to talk about it with her, tell her that it's not okay for her to be using other guys for attention, and that if something's wrong, you guys should talk about it. If she refuses to go along with it...well, honestly, I think you should dump her, possibly even if the talk goes well. Her behavior is not acceptable.

Ok well today i was hanging out with this girl and when we kissed it seemed like to me her mouth was slightly open when we kissed and it felt weird but like i'm not sure if i'm doin something wrong since i've kissed like 8 times before but when i kissed my ex-girlfriend like a year ago she didn't have her mouth slightly open or like idk how to explain how this new girl has her lips just feels slightly open haha

can a random person get ahold on my phone records, even if they don't pay the bill? like would they just have to call my phone company and request them for my number?

If you mean cell phone, probably not. I have Verizon, and even to do things like reactivate a phone, you have to be the accountholder, have the last 4 digits of the account holder's SSN, and have the billing passcode.

So I've dyed my hair before. I have experience in it. I've dyed it brown, burgundy, and even a bright blue. I've had my natural hair for about two years now (it's a brownish/reddish/blonde color? Lol. Don't know how to describe it.) and I've grown incredibly tired of it.

Hi I am in third grade and have a talent show coming up. The problem is that I'm a tad short in the talent department. Any ideas?

Do you have any friends that are in it, too? Maybe you can try to do some kind of group thing. Do a funny scene from a play or a musical number or something.

If not, try to think 'outside the box'- what's something totally different that other people aren't doing? I'm willing to bet a lot of people will be dancing, singing, or playing an instrument. Are you good at being funny? Why not try performing a funny monologue? It's not hard to do and definitely something entertaining that people will remember. You could also try reading a poem or story (funny or serious, whichever you prefer.) Do impersonations or lip synch to a song, juggle or do some kind of sport skill.

If you need more ideas, try asking friends or family members what they think you're good at- they might have some ideas, too.

i love music and i love to sing and want to create my own song.how can i make up lyrics? i never have never know what to write.and how to put it in words because i know you have to put your feelings into word and music but i want to know how.

It really depends. I write songs, and sometimes I'll just have a line (or a few lines) pop into my head, and I write it down and finish it, then get on the piano and come up with the music for it. Other times I'll be messing around on the piano and come up with chords, then write the words. The first way tends to produce better lyrics. The main thing is not overthinking, just start writing and let it come out, no matter how imperfect it is. You can always edit later.

i'm looking for some natural way to cure acne. i have sensitive skin, so the chemicals in the acne washes that i use kind of irriate it. i'm looking for ways that i can make at home that are really easy and that are GUARANTEED to work.

Also, make sure you're drinking tons of water, and cleaning, toning, and moisturizing at least twice a day (in the morning and before bed.) Never ever sleep with makeup on, and try making some facial masks (you can google recipes).

I'm a choreographer in an interpretive dance show at my school. All of the scenes in the show are themes. Lust, justice, purity... My scene is lust. So I have to embody that emotion through the dance I choreograph, but i'm having a hard time finding a song for the dance.
