Ok so now that's clear, I'll talk to you more about myself. Hence the username... I play volleyball. It is my passion and basically my life since I've played for about 7 years. Most of my friends say i'm 50/50 tomboy and girly girl. I LOVE sports!! I play volleyball all year round, and then I go to the park during free times to play some soccer, football, hockey, basketball or baseball with my friends. But then again, I could be inside trying on my new Sephora makeup i'd just gotten, or reading the latest Seventeen magazine or even arranging my clothes for school tomorrow.
You can ask me just about anything and i'll be happy to answer it. You can count on a full and detailed answer.
Oh and another thing... I love getting feedback! Even if its a negative comment. It tells me what I need to work on or even what I did correct.

The relationship I have with my bestfriend Adam is... Diffrent. I really like him, and everyone says we'd make a cute couple, but I'm ugly.
And don't be like oo don't call yourself that no your not.. yes I am. I have naturally curly hair that everyone says they want but it's uncontrolible..and I have discoloration on my neck, armpits, and in between my legs (not IN, but around) not that anyone can see that, but they can my neck and it looks like hardcore dirt but it's not I have Acanthosis Negracans. And it's because im fat. And im not talking a little over-weight, I weight 220 and im 14. and its not portioned on my body.. it's all in my gut!I look like in pegante! Im gross and I do like Adam but I don't get my hopes up with anything. I hate everypart of my body not madder how many times anyone says im pretty. Im not and they're just trying to make me feel better.Pity Me.
Well a couple days ago Adam called me fat. Me&Steven were like attacking eachother when Adam yelled "WATCH OUT BUS IS COMING!!!" and I like broke down.. First I kicked him in the nuts and he tumbled.. and we were gunnago to the dance as friends so he said "Wow, is this how you treat all your dates??" and i laughed and him I said "You must think a lot of yourself if you think I'll even talk to you!" and walked away. and it fealt so good to stick up for myself but i cried all night. I am fat and I dont wanna be but it's so hard, my parents are never home, they never listen to me and it feels like the only time im happy is when im eating (ive been to a theripist and thats what she said.) and when my parents are always argueing and i cant to anything right. I've tried making myself vomit, but nooo it hurt soo bad id rather be the wall i am then have my throat hurt like that. But with Adam he said he was sorry, but he thinks its like a free card. He doesnt mean it! So I told him to leave me alone, it's not going to work your always making fun of me.. and he called me like 20 times that night and my Dad was all why dont u just talk to him.. but im wasnt about to tell him so i just took a long bath until all the icecream was gone (and people wonder why im fat) I broke mirrors, cried until my eyes burned.. and the whole day after that my skin was blotchy, it was obvois i'd been crying and Adam wouldn't leave me alone saying he was sorry. And yes I know people will think im being harsh but hes wasnt the first time making fun of me.. Then when we became talking again we startd hanging out, but i never actually forgave him and i rold him i didnt like him joking about me and he said he would stop and he has. Well last ight my Mom left again for her buseness and my Dad got drunk and i couldnt handle it so I left.. and I walked like a mile dieing, having an asthma attach *I DONT HAVE ASTHMA THO* to Adams house and we just talked. It was fun but should i say im sorry?? to him because I hoe he'll stop because im like 80 pounds overweight, adn im tall for my age. IM HUGGEE so i was wondering should I consider diet pills?
Its getting to cold to start walking and Im not going to ask my parents for a treadmill! I do have an Ablonge tho and I want this gone by next summer. I want my whole gut gone! I wanna be able to wear a bikini or something for the first time in my whole life.. and If i lose weight my discoloration in my neck will go away.then there wont be anything wrong with me.
My Goal= Be able to see my toes.
and be able to shop at like Areopostale and not have people think"why is that fatass shopping here? Like she can even fit in these cloths. Which I cant..
Anything is helpful. I need to go on a diet and i want it gone by summer.. but i dont want like saggy-skin GROSS.
I have Thick Thighs, and stomach but my arms and calf (my calfs mustcle i need ot to lug my ass around.. and my arms are tiny. I dont have a double chin.. its my Stomach mostly no ally.. i want to just eat salads, workout and that's it.
But i dont wanna go hungry. which sounds stupid I know bu i cant sleep hungry I cant even fall asleep hungry..

The other girl is right... if you are calling yourself fat... that makes you fat. You need to have a positive attitude. What I want you to do is take a dark blanket and cover up all of the mirrors at your house. I know this sounds ridiciculous but I've heard it really works. What it is supposed to do is let you not see yourself in the mirror. Then you work out everyday for about 2 months, and then after 2 months you take down the blankets and you see the new you. If you always look in the mirror, its really bad for you because you always see yourself in a bad way. So just don't look in the mirror for a very long time.
As for that adam kid... he sounds like a huge jerk. Why do you even hang around him??? Think to yourself right now... do you still want to be friends with him if he stopped teasing you?? If the answer is yes, you need to sit him down and talk to him. Tell him that if he makes fun of you again, you'll seriously never speak to him and find another friend. If he keeps on harassing you, I suggest going to a councelor. maybe a school counselor?
As for working out... It sounds to me that you love sweets. eating sweets is ok once in a while, but when it becomes a big deal like 2 times a day... then thats were all of that obesity comes from. Its great that you don't wanna be anorexic and bulimic. Because all that does to you is make your body even worse that what you started as. Its ok to be hungry, but you need to be careful what you eat and how much of it. Like for instance, say you get home from school... instead of having brownies, try a ceasar salad with ranch dressing and crutons with water. for dinner you can try eating mashed potatoes, salad and steamed vegetables like carrots and broccoli. Drink plenty of water. Water actually helps you lose weight, but if you drink that crappy stuff like pop, then it only adds more weight.
As for working out... You should find a local gym and sign up for a membership there. I live near a gym and people can sign up for weight training, yoga, dance classes, track club etc. So maybe you should see if they have any clubs and sign up for one. Bring along music to take your mind off of working out so time goes by faster.
here are some exercises that I do-
My dad says to work-out every other day because if you work out every day then you get a lot of sore muscles and you can rip a lot of them.
So lets start on monday. Monday- start out with your upper body strength... so that would be, biceps, triceps, abs, chest, obliques, and your back.
biceps- do about 100 push=ups a day. I know that seems like a lot. But there's 24 hours in 1 day. That means that you don't have to do 50 push-ups all in one. You can do 10... then break for 10 minutes... then another 10... then break. and keep on going. What I always do is do however many push=ups it takes for a commercial in the TV to end. Then when the show comes back on, i'll watch it.
Go to your local gym or if you have some dumbbells at home, find your appropriate weight (for me its 20lbs per arm) but you can start off easier. And lift dumbbells.
Triceps- weight lifting with dumbbells. have your arms down by your side and then lift one arm up and bend it so that the hand is by your chest and your elbow by your hip. do 10 and 5 reps. 30 sec. - 1 min. break.
ABS- Do about 200 situps a day. ((again, its not that much if you do like 20 and then break, 20, break etc.))
Another exercise is lay down flat on your back, then hold on to something that is sturdy (like a chair, or couch) then lift your feet up and get them to be vertical ( so you are forming your body like an L) Then slowly lower your legs, but do not touch them to the floor. Then lift them back up. If you want it tougher... then lower them to 1 side, but don't tip your body over.
Oh and here's 1 more- again lay down and hold onto something sturdy. Then roll your legs up into your stomach ( like the fetal position ) and roll yourself up so that your back is no longer touching the floor. So the only thing touching the floor would be your shoulders. Then slowly roll back down but keep your legs rolled into your stomach. Don't drop them to the floor! then roll back up and repeat.
this is one of my favs., its called the BOAT. and its kinda hard to explain but i'll try my best. Lay down on a flat surface on your back. then sit up and bend your knees ((so a sit=up position)) now lift your feet off the ground so the only thing touching the floor should be your tailbone ((right above your butt)). Extend your arms out in front of you and just be in that position for 1 minute. You are probably going to start shaking because whenever I do it, I always shake. But thats a good thing because then you know it's working your muscles. If you don't feel it, then try leaning backwards and extending your legs out a little ((keeping them bent still))
Chest- lay on a bench and have your arms extended out so you are like a T. Then have weight in both hands and then slowly bring them up. Then slowly bring them down back to T position. Do 10... 5 reps and 30 sec. break.
Obliques- get into sit-up position. Then do the boat except have your feet in the sit-up position. then take your hands and both of them touch your left foot, then your right foot, left, right. Do about 25 and then rep. 4 X and 30 sec break. then do the same thing except in stead of touching your feet, touch the floor by your side.
Back- doing yoga will help your back muscles, so try doing that.
that's all for upperbody strength...
then Wednesday do lower body strength. Quads, Calves
Quads- WALL SITS- really simple to learn, pretend like you are sitting on a chair... having your back against a wall and there's no support under your butt. Have your legs be at a 90 degree angle. So it looks like you are sitting on a chair, but actually without one.
KING SQUATS- kinda hard. Have a bench or couch behind you. Have one foot on there and the other stretched and bent out in front of you. so it looks like a lunge. The leg that is in the back, has to be higher than your other leg. Slowly lower your back leg so it is parallel with the other leg. Then come back up.
LUNGES- same thing as a king squat, but without the bench/couch. So stand up straight, let 1 foot come out in front of you and bend both knees. Make sure that the front knee isn't over your toes... So if it is over your toes, then you need to step out farthur. Make sure your front knee is parallel to your toes. Then hold this position for 30 seconds and break. switch legs. also make sure that your knees do not touch the floor.
Calves-
find a wall, then lean on the wall with your back against it but have your feet out a little. then bring your toes up and slowly let them down but don't let them hit the floor. Then again raise them up and slowly let them down. Do about 100.
Ladders
find paint tape (( it's blue or someother color that you can see )) and make the tape look like a ladder on the floor. ((kind of like hop-scotch?)) but just boxes in front of each other. Maybe 10 boxes?

here are some more steps you can follow-
in, in, out, out (going straight)
out, in, in, out (going diagonal)
2 feet in each box, 1 foot in each box.. forward/sideways/backwards
make sure you do this with your toes only touching the floor, if you have your whole foot on the floor each time you step, it makes a stomping sound and thus it will not work. Make sure you can't hear anything and that your heels are off the ground.
Then Friday- is just exercising... like jumproping, biking, running, play any type of sports, swimming etc.
Then you have the weekend to break. I know that only doing it 3x a week seems like not a lot... but if you do it everyday, you're tearing your muscles apart and that can cause major pain.
Drink protein shakes, eat vitamins, minerals, rest, take hot and cold baths, and STRETCH!! everytime you are done.
If you follow all of those steps, then you'll definitally reach your goal. You just need to have the right attitude and never quit. Don't throw away all of your hard work!!

the hinge on my dell latitude D600 laptop is coming out. how can i fix this? i need to ix it fast because its my moms computer and shes going to be reeeeaally mad.
Well if you've never fixed something like this before, i would just leave it because sometimes even if you think you know what you're doing.. it just makes things a whole lot worse and you're mom will get even more mad. trust me, i've done it before.
you have 2 options...
1. you find someone to take you to a computer store (like apple) maybe tell your mom you're going to spend the night at your friends, bring her laptop with and the 2 of you can go shopping (aka fix it)
2. just straight out tell your mom. 1 lie leads to a lot and your mom will get pissed if she finds out that you not only broke her computer, but also lied about it. You can just tell her that you're sorry and that you'll pay for the recovery.

i think better right before i go to sleep (i have trouble sleeping bc of this). i think better when im horizontal? does anyone else have this? or is it bc i finally have time to think or something and thoughts come rushing to my head..
I agree with the other girl. It has nothing to do with being horizontal (unless theres something about your ceilings that make you calm....) but sometimes, during the day... I can't think because my house is always in a rush or doing some activity. Theres probably not one time that in my house its just still and quiet. But during late night, its quiet because everyone is watching a movie or just reading a book... and thats when I can think clearly.
To help you think better during the day, find a room where its far away from all of the noise. Like if a lot of noise comes from your basebent... then go up to the top floor. Close the doors, put music on and read a book and just think.

ok so there is this girl and we have been friends for like a year and half. We are so close that i invited her on vacation with me(big mistake).. any way the whole time she was there i felt like she is using me. she "barrowed" all this money and never paid back. Then in the fall we both joined this field hockey team and she started to get annoying from there. She would make plans with these other girls and then send me pictures of all them. I feel like i am bieng left out. she always seems to be doing something yet can never involve me. Then when i would ask her to do something she would say ok and then cancel.. and the first time i believed her.. but now this happens all the time.. What should i do ?

she is using you. for the first part.. she was using you to go on vacation, to borrow money and just be away from home.
Then the second part, she is trying to make you jealous by sending pictures of her.
Whats the one thing that she WANTS. she wants you to be jealous and to feel bad. Do you want to give her that power??? NO. you don't. The only way you can win this battle, is to not give her what she wants. And she wants power.
If she sends you pictures of her and her friends... don't send pictures of you and your friends... because that is just causing a huge fight and it just gets so messy. Send her a message back and be like "what is this?" Then when she says "its me and my friends" be like... "why are you sending this to me?" and wait for her response. If she says something like "i want to show you how much fun we are having" or something like that... be like "I don't need to know how much fun you're having... I can already tell that you don't have fun"
Do you seriously want to be friends with her?? i wouldn't. Just dump her and forget about her. Stop talking to her and if she is still trying to make you feel bad. Talk to her and be like "I think it's time we moved on with other friends."
Don't be all mean and everything, but show her that you are a strong person and nothing can push you down and make your self-esteem go low.

k soo im 15/f, sophomore, and i have these 2 best friends. yesterday after school we went to one's house..but..my best friend,"A", decided to leave at around 5:00. because she was BORED. and "tired". ok, so we were watching america's next top model..it was raining outside..we couldnt think of anything else to do. but she wanted to go home. k so youre probably like,whats wrong with that? she ALWAYS does it! the week before we were at my house and she left at 9:00 or something , while my other friend stayed till 10. and she even made her sister go home just because she wanted to go home. her 11 year old sister would stay out later than her! it's pathetic and we're 15 almost 16! i know our town is pretty boring, most of the time we only go out to eat and hang at each others houses-we couldve went to the movies, but she finds those boring too. the mall, but we couldn't get a ride..i suggested bowling, she didn't want to. it's like nothing satisfies her. and seriously i'd rather do nothing with my best friends than do nothing by myself. i dunno what her problem iss. and also we went to my other friends house yesterday, but she wanted to go to mine cuz somehow "it's the most fun" i don't know how, i really don't see how it's so much fun. but we had hung out at my house the last probably like 4 fridays, and my mom was like getting annoyed cuz she had the responsibility and if we didnt go out to eat, she had to cook or order pizza. so i don't know what to do anymore, i actually told her when she left yesterday that like, why does she always leave so early. of course she denied and just said she wanted to go home because she was tired and had "stuff" to do.
i'm just sick of this! like it makes me mad cause we have so much fun together, i don't understand her though. she ALWAYS leaves early just because she gets bored. what should i say to her? what can we DO that's not "boring"?! is this ridiculous or what ugh. thanks so much, sorry it was so long!

I think that this girl isn't satisfied with the group of people she's with. Now, I'm not trying to be mean here... but you're too much of a softie. I can already tell because this has happened a lot and you are not taking action. You should've taken action after the first 2 or 3 times. Take her somewhere where there are no distractions and when you 2 are alone. Sit her down and tell her that she either is going to be friends with you and your friends and have FUN, or find a new group of friends. You said that you would rather do nothing by yourself, than nothing with your friends.
When you talk to her, don't be a softie... but don't be too harsh so that she wants revenge. "body language" Stand up straight and tall, cross your arms... don't be in a position where she doesn't take you seriously. Attitude is everything. You need to be a solid. Where she is a little intimidated by yourself.
She either needs to be around you and have fun (or at least ACT like she is having fun until the time of that day is over) or find another group of friends where she can actually enjoy herself. You can tell her that she is just wasting her time being bored around you guys and she would be way better off by herself. Next time you arrange a hanging out day... don't include her. If she asks- just say that whenever she is around, she brings the energy level way down and you wanted a day to see how it would be like without her.
Maybe go to a local store and buy Board games, video games, computer games, thriller movies (the kind that is like in the beginning you're like "oh this is kinda boring" but then towards the end its like "oh my god.. whats gonna happen next" Sorta like one of those books where you can never put it down")
Even if the movie is not that good, it still would be a thriller so that makes it even more interesting. Maybe get a deck of cards and play a game like Solitare. Maybe have a magic show, talent show.
TUNES! whenever you hang out with friends, you need to have music. If theres a song playing that all of you know, be the first person to stand up and start dancing. More people will join and soon all of you will be dancing. If you do have a ride one day, don't tell anybody where their going... then go somewhere cool. Like bowing for instance. See if there's a COSMIC BOWLING. Its cool because its black lights and if you wear white, you glow. Most bowling places have music, and while you are waiting for turns, you could be playing arcade games... dancing, eating, playing pool, etc. Maybe if you have a local gym, you could all go swimming or play tennis. Oohh..... how about YARD GAMES! play like Capture the Flag (( or my version- capture the football. Its like capture the flag, except you try to get the football and you can tackle each other. Its sooooo much fun. especially in the rain when you all get muddy. =D
Just use your imagination and pretend like you are having a party.

PS: one of my most favorite games to play with a big group is called= Endurance
Have one person be the host and they get to make up a bunch of challenges. Their will be 4 teams... North, East, South and West. (like spin 10 times around a baseball bat and then go across the lawn, take a basketball and dribble the ball and shoot. First person gets 100 points. Or have everyone tie a balloon to their shoe. So like the North team would all have 1 red balloon to their shoe. The south team would have 1 White balloon tied to their shoe etc. Then have all 4 teams on 4 walls of a room, On your mark, get set, go! everyone has to pop the other teams balloons. Theres a 2 minute session... after 2 minutes is up.. you get a break and you count who is the winner so far. If you're balloon is popped, then you're out of the game.
Its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!!
There was a movie that I saw when I was much younger.. I don't know the title but I remember seeing the ending of it... where this kid Jimmy came to the house of his neighbors and there was a mother and her daughter.. the mother told Jimmy to leave the house.. because I guess he would always come over everyday and wouldn't leave them alone. the dad told him to leave too.. there was some blood.. I think Jimmy ended up killing the dad actually.. I think the kid who played Jimmy was a child actor because I haven't seen any new movies with him in it. If anyone has a clue as to what I'm talking about please let me know!

Do you remember what year this was in?? If you gave us the year, maybe someone around here has actually seen it. But I highly doubt it. You could try googling it. Maybe going to a video store and asking them because the employees who work there are the people who always watch a million movies. So they would maybe know. Other than that, just sit down in a quiet and peaceful place and close your eyes and clear your mind. Think very hard and maybe some other information will come up. when you do this, you should have a pen and paper with you so then you can write it down quickly before you forget.

Okay so like last night I was hanging with my friends, lets call them.. Hannah, Leslie and George
And george was gonna invite all of us over for a scary movie night for tonight and we all were like YAY YES WE CAN COMMEE!!
and the last night i slept at hannah's and this morning she was lile, "I wanna have alot of people over tonight" And then I was like "Well we are going to George's" And then Leslie was like "Yeah lets just tell him we all cant come though"
But i was like "no we can't do that thats mean we are practically ditching him"
And then we all go in this whole arugement and now we are pretty mad at eachother.
Hannah Said im still invited if i wanna come, BUt i dont know what to do.. Should I still go to George's? Or Hannah's? If I go to George's I would be the only girl but i dont really care.
BUt like the sad thing is George wasnt even invited to Hannah's SO i think that is really mean
Also this isnt the first time hannah has done this she done this before and when she did to it leslie would be like OMG SHE IS SO MEAN and now leslie is doing it with her and she is on her side 100%

It sounds to me that Hannah and Leslie aren't really good friends with you or george. If I were you, I'd forget about hannah and leslie because they are not nice people, and definitally not your clique. I think you know what the right choice is.... go to georges house. My dad is always telling me that if you promise something, that is not only a promise... but a commitment. You committed to doing something, and you can't just break it and give up. That shows that you are a loser. These girls obviously don't care what george feels. Now if you do go to George's, you should be prepared because they ARE going to be mad at you. But let them have their space and when the time comes... they'll see that what they did was a huge mistake. Just do the right thing and don't even care about them... you tried to convince them. that's the best you can do. You can't force them to make the right choice, it's their decision. You just need to lead them on to the right choice.. and let them think for a while about what is wrong and what is right.
The main point here is- don't let them influence you into doing bad things. You KNOW whats right, just ignore what they say and have fun at George's!

For a club I am in at school, we are doing a night without a home project where we sleep in boxes to help raise awareness for the homeless. We have to come up with a story as to why we're homeless, more or less going into details and such. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas!!! thank you so much for your time. all answers are greatly appreciated ;)
Ooh... what about you going on a walk with someone...then you get hit by a car and get amnesia (sp?? its when you forget who you are, everything that happened to you) and you couldn't remember your house phone number, where you live etc. and so you don't have any money, food, clothes etc.

Hello there, I have a big problem. I take Biology honors, and I learn by seeing and hearing. But the thing is that my teacher doesn't really teach...I don't know how to study for her tests, and her tests have so much information on them. I really need help knowing on how to study for her test. I have exams coming up in 3 weeks...and I really need some help.

Your teacher doesn't know what she is doing wrong... so you have to be there to help her realize that. Right now, she is probably thinking... "oh my students learned so much in class today." but in reality... you are sitting there, looking at your homework and thinking what the heck are they asking me to do? am I right??
When you have time, (like an open hour, or during breaks, after/before school) go up to her and tell her that you are having trouble and you want extra help from her. What people in my school normally do is come in before or after school and stay for about an hour and have the teacher help you with things that you don't understand. If she says she has no time... then just straight out tell her that "you talk about these things in class, but you don't explain them good enough for me to fully understand what it means."
If you cannot get contact of her during breaks or whatever, then see if she has an email address and write her one. (don't forget to tell her who you are and when you have her class. oh and also your email address so she can respond to)
She might have a voicemail or phone number, you could try calling her.
If none of these solutions work, then try searching for a tutor. Maybe an online tutor or from a book?? My mom also bought me this CD for your computer that you install and it helps you. The one I have is ACT and SAT prep. So maybe theres something out there for biology.
You just need to do a little digging around and you'll find help.

this might sound so weird, but how do people shake their butts sooo fast, like not hips and swaying but actual shake, its extremely quick, i dont know if im eexplainging this right ahah but i will try and put up a vid later if i can find one but basically im asking how they do it and how i can learn, i tryed and its soo hard to do
lol this question is hilarious... i'm not sure if my advice will do any good... but my friends and I have an inside joke about me. There's this song and during one part, the girl is supposed to stand there with one hand on her face and the other on her butt and she shakes it super fast, and the guy is infront of her and leans over to check her behind while she's doing it. Its pretty funny. I first learned how to do that just by practicing. And the other person is wrong, you don't shake it up and down, you shake it side to side. You're not supposed to move your feet at all, its basically in the knees and hips. maybe try to stand up with your legs a little bent, then try to shake it left then right... start off slow and work your way up. Maybe find a song where you're really into it, like crazy dancing, then practice it.

im trying out for a 8th grade team for club (we dont have school volleyball, sadly) and i dont know what i should do to train for it.. I mean I've always loved volleyball, and in school since like elementary whenever we played it I was always like.. into it, and out of school I've done 3 volleyball camps (2 for 5 weeks (like once a week each week) and and the other for 5 days in a row (day camps). um but idk if thats enough cause the last camp I did was in the early summer.. and tryouts for this volleyball are next month. so what can i do to train for it? btw i dont have a preferred position.. they asked me that on the form and i've never really played like.. REAL volleyball, so im not sure what i'd be good at, ha. thanks :)

you came to the right girl. As for what position you play... well you could be an All-around player. We always give out awards at the end of our high school season and this one girl got the all around player award. It means that you can do anything and you're really good at it. I'm a setter. I'll give you some ideas about each position and what you have to be good at.
Passer/Libero= You need to have quick feet and always be moving. You won't be successful in this position if you're just standing straight up and not moving your feet. You have to always be down low, and have quick feet. Be ready for anything and always think that the ball is coming to you. If you aren't afraid of the ball coming hard at you, and you are not afraid to get some floor burns and bruises from diving... then this is for you
Setter- This person is the most important player of the team. They are the playmaker. That means that they get to decide everything. They decide who gets to hit the ball, where the ball goes, when the ball goes to that spot etc. They also get to touch the majority of the balls. This is for people who also have quick feet and can move fast because sometimes you have to play backrow... and that means you play defense and if the ball doesn't come towards you... then you have to hustle your butt to the net and set that ball. So quick feet for this one.. Also this person has to be VERY loud. not joking... like super loud. I'm a shy person and the coach is always yelling at me to get louder.
Hitter- For this position, you have to have a fast arm. What I mean by that is you can't be afraid to really swing at the ball and hit it your hardest. If you're thinking... oh well I don't want to pull a muscle. Or, I might get blocked... I think i'll just tip the ball. Then this is not for you. You can't be afraid to try new things. If you get angry a lot, then you might want to be a hitter because you can really hit the ball... and it releases a lot of that bad energy from you and makes you feel a lot better. ((like if you're always mad and you always punch the wall or something terrible like that.. then you could be a hitter because you can really hit the ball hard))
For this one, you have to have a great vertical. You need to jump high to hit the ball, need to jump high to block the other team. Also, you can't be afraid to tell the setter if you want the set differently. A lot of volleyball hitters I know, are sometimes scared and if I make a bad set, they'll just forget about it and never tell me to fix it. So if you want the ball to be higher, you can't be afraid to tell the setter that.
Ok so now i'll break the hitters up into 3 groups: Lefts, Middles, Rights
Lefts- For this one, you should be the strongest hitter because if the passer does not do a good job of passing and the set is off the net, the setter will most likely set outside (or sometimes backrow hitters) So you should be the strongest hitter and also the most accurate. (not a lot of mistakes). The setter should trust you, that if she has no other person to set it to, she can trust you to place it over the net without having to make a mistake
Middles- probably the most complicated hitter, but also really fun. You have about 20 different hitting options. (B, Slide, 2, A, 21, etc) You should have an amazing vertical because the middle is ALWAYS blocking. You block the lefts, middles and rights. So you can't be scared of blocking.
Rights- people think that this is the least important because normally rights are for left handers... and thats not frequent. But if you really practice hard, you can be great. For this one, it requires great hustling skills. Because you are the replacement setter. Say the setter passes the first ball... YOU need to get that 2nd ball because you are the replacement setter on the court. So you need to know how to set also.
So there you have it, how to choose what position to play. As for getting ready, well you need to have a daily workout schedule. There's 2 ways as to do this-
1. doing upper body strengh one day, then lower body the other day and just switch off
2. all of your body muscles in one day, then the next day is a break off. (no working out)
Other than working out, you just need to keep on doing clinics, camps. If you have a gym near by, ask if there is any open gyms, where you can set up a volleyball net and practice. You should have at least 2 volleyball's in your home. Find a spot in your house and just practice there. ((for me since i'm a setter, i'll go in my garage and just set against the wall.)) for hitters, you can take the ball and hit it down on the floor, and let it hit the wall ((so you're hitting it at an angle, not just straight down()) then when it hits the wall, it should come back to you and then you repeat. for passing- you can take the ball and just pass the ball straight up in the air and keep on doing that. but make sure to stay low because some people get in the habit of practicing that but they stand up. So when they pass, they are always standing up. So stay low!!

just basically try to stand out so when someone sees you, they'll be like "oh thats the girl i was talking about...."
All of a sudden my bed got this really weird smell, and it smells horrible. Even though I've washed the sheets a million times, it always comes back. Also I'm a very clean person, and very into hygeine so I know it's not me. Any ideas?
Check around your bed to see if there's any rotten food or junk that could cause it. Under the bed, next to the bed... anywhere near it. Maybe take the matress outside and hose it down with water, then pour liquid soap all over it and wash it. Then let it air dry.

I'm having a crisis of faith at the moment.
I've been dating this guy for over a year. And I guess things are getting a little stale.
I've met this boy Dan, who is very similar to me.
And to me, he's more attractive than my current boyfriend. He has a lip ring and a mohawk, and thus more my'type'.
And lately I've been feeling really attached to him, and I think I like him.
It's just, I have a really great thing going with my current boyfriend,and I don't know what i should do.
First, I want you to forget about Dan. Think about your current boyfriend and think hard about if you could picture you and him together for another few months. Now, think what you like your current boyfriend and what you don't like. Make a list and write them down. Then forget about your current boyfriend and think about Dan. Try to picture yourself going out with him. Would you like it?? Now write down all of the reasons why you like him and why you don't. The majority wins.
What my opinion is, first see if Dan like you. But be careful and make sure that your current boyfriends doesn't get any ideas. Then just let the magic work its way to the prize.

I'm thinking of joining the track team next year (no spots left this year) because I really want to take up a sport but I'm not really in to team sports.
I'm not in great shape, I haven't done sports since I was about 12 (I'm 16 now) and even though I'm the fastest female runner in my class (which isn't saying much, there's only about 8 girls haha), my resistance sucks and I get tired easily.
I've got ages before I join but I'd really like to start getting in to shape now. Apart from the obvious (running...) what can I do to get in shape?
What you're doing is a good thing to do. Most people are lazy bums and think that they do not need to exercise. Thats why about 40 percent of people in america are overweight. I read that in a magazine. well track is mostly using your lowerbody strength... but upperbody strength is also important. I will break this down into body parts.
ARMS- do about 100 push=ups a day. I know that seems like a lot. But there's 24 hours in 1 day. That means that you don't have to do 50 push-ups all in one. You can do 10... then break for 10 minutes... then another 10... then break. and keep on going. What I always do is do however many push=ups it takes for a commercial in the TV to end. Then when the show comes back on, i'll watch it.
Go to your local gym or if you have some dumbbells at home, find your appropriate weight (for me its 20lbs per arm) but you can start off easier. And lift dumbbells.
ABS- Do about 200 situps a day. ((again, its not that much if you do like 20 and then break, 20, break etc.))
this is one of my favs., its called the BOAT. and its kinda hard to explain but i'll try my best. Lay down on a flat surface on your back. then sit up and bend your knees ((so a sit=up position)) now lift your feet off the ground so the only thing touching the floor should be your tailbone ((right above your butt)). Extend your arms out in front of you and just be in that position for 1 minute. You are probably going to start shaking because whenever I do it, I always shake. But thats a good thing because then you know it's working your muscles. If you don't feel it, then try leaning backwards and extending your legs out a little ((keeping them bent still))
THIGHS- do the wall sits. find a wall and stand up straight with your back against it. then pretend like you are sitting on a chair. so your legs should make a 90 degree angle but without anything supporting your butt. Sit there for about 2 minutes.
King squats- have a bench or something where you can put your foot on. then stand in front of it. take your right foot and place the part where the laces would be (of a shoe of course) on the bench/couch or whatever. so your leg is bent backwards. then place your hands on your hips and squat down. Make sure that your front knee does not go over your front toes. so in other words, keep your right foot at a 90 degree angle. Do about 25 per foot.
CALVES- find a wall, then lean on the wall with your back against it but have your feet out a little. then bring your toes up and slowly let them down but don't let them hit the floor. Then again raise them up and slowly let them down. Do about 100.
ladders- take masking tape thats colored so you can see where you put it. Then make a ladder but it is on the floor. Here's a website explaining what to do-

Other than all of those, you could go biking (which helps A LOT), swimming (they say its the best form of exercise) or again.. running on the track.
Maybe listen to music that really makes you pumped up. My favorite workout song is The Way I are- Timbaland.

I've never really had challenges talking to guys because they usually come to me...like I've never really had to start talking to them first. There's this kid at my school and he's probably the most adorable kid ever but he's really popular and I think he might be a little superficial. I'm a junior and he's a senior so I always see him in the halls but I don't have the balls to actually talkk to him. I'm not shy, really but Idk how to approach him. Any ideas? I'm really bold and outgoing haha. Like I do subtle things like brush up against him and stuff, but idk if he has the idea that i like him yet. I really wanna talk to him...
wow... you seriously sound like me right now. LOL. I am also having trouble getting this guy to notice me and start talking to me. well i got this advice from a friend and she said that I should do something near him that he HAS to react to. For example, ask a question... he HAS to answer it. otherwise, it would be terribly rude to just not answer. or drop something near him but pretend you didn't notice, and see if he would pick it up for you. (its kinda childish but it DOES work) then you can say "thanks" and just pick it up from there. Or what you can also do is have a friend talk to him and then pretend like you need to talk to your friend and then have your friend introduce you to him.

so i'm in 9th grade and i'm 14. i really like this guy and we'll just call him...timmy.lol. ok, well, i've liked timmy pretty much since the begining of the skewl year. well, he found out that i like him cause my friend sorta told him (its a really long story..) well, he told her that he doesn't like me that much, but he would probably like me more if he knew me more. and his friend and my friend just told me to talk to him and have a convo w/ him. btw i have 3 classes with him and a lunch if that helps. well, at the start of the year, i didn't talk to him a whole bunch, but this past week i've been talking to him quite a bit. but there is a prob. he is going to ask this other girl out. so i'm really pissed cause right when i start talking to him, he gets a gf. i'm just like wth?? and i'm the type of person who belives everything happens for a reason and there are signs for like everything. so is this like a sign that we aren't supposed to go out?? everyone who knows i like him thinks that we would look cute together cause like the bodytypes, dark hair and dark eyes. i think we would be really cute to but i just don't know how to make it happen. see, i'm really shy around guys, but i've been trying to start to talk to them more, which i actually have been making some progress the last couple of weeks. but i just need some help! what do i do??? everyone thinks that timmy and his "gf" won't last very long and i don't eaither just cause they are nothing alike and she is a HUGE flirt, but i just don't know. help please!!!

I think it is a sign, but thats just my opinion. Now, you're 14?? relationships at this age are not going to last long. so in this case, its a good and bad thing. Good thing- that timmy and his "gf" won't have a relationship that will last long. Bad thing- neither will yours and timmys.
Now, I'm not saying jump on her back and start attacking her and threatening her to not go out with him. you have no right to do that. It's his decision who he likes, not yours... so there's nothing you can do about that.
It sounds to me that the only reason that you're friends want him to go out with you is because you 2 would look 'cute' together. Notice how I put quotation marks around cute... what my point is, is that they're basing your relationship with him on looks.
Looks arn't everything. Do you actually have something in common with this dude? Its best right now that you still talk to him, give him a FEW hints that you like him... but don't overdo it so that the other girl starts hating you and threatening you.
just let the chips fall into place. Don't even plan what you're going to do, and just let it happen by nature. Let the problem find its way to the answer by itself.

There are these two girls who used to be my best friends. Last year, they talked about me, made up stuff, blamed everything on me, & all of these other things so that they could get out of everything that they did & said about one of our other friends. They did that three times; I gave them three chances. Each time, they would apologize & say it wouldn`t happen again, but it kept happening. So, I just gradually stopped hanging out with them, but I was thinking the other day. When I was with them...I`ve never had that much fun with any of my other friends in my life. Plus, they would stand up for me if someone said something mean to one of us. No matter how much I cried cause of them, I also laughed just as much. I don`t know what to do. Should I just keep doing what I`m doing & staying away from them? Or should I give them another chance?
hmmm... well this is tricky. If I were you, i'd give them ONE LAST CHANCE. and if that last chance goes wrong, then don't even bother to hang out with them because even if you had lots of fun with them, you also got hurt many times. If you hang out with them and keep letting them do these mean things to you, they'll think it's ok and just keep doing them. You can find friends that are even better than them. You just have to be YOURSELF and not be a fake. If you are a fake, people will be attracted to your phony act and then when you are yourself, they will think you're a weirdo because they thought your act was really you, when it's not. and then it just gets ugly from there. So be yourself and people will like you for who you are. Even if you don't find any true friends really quickly, you still have your family to look up to and talk with.

Friends are like penutbutter and jelly, they always stick together and are always enjoyable. However 1 small change can turn that around and make them distant. People think change is for the worse, but it can be for the better. it helps you realize what the past was.
