LagunaBabe answered Thursday January 11 2007, 3:24 pm: Yes, it will definitely make you lose weight. Because regular soda, is literally packed with calories, sodium, etc. Basically, all of the things that are unhealthy and cause weight gain. And water, doesn't contain anything so yes, this will make you lose weight. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
orphans answered Wednesday January 10 2007, 10:09 pm: yessss!!!! i ONLY drink water, never soda. when i go to a diner or a restaurant at lunch for school (we have open lunch, i dont know if you do..) but i only get water, and i never get soda
not only will not drinking soda make you lighter, its just sooo good for you! like soda causes people to break out, and thieri stomachs get slightly clogged (which is why youd get heavier, your digestive system's metabolism isnt working as well) and soda is bad for your teeth!
water is so good for you! [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

soccergurlie1220 answered Wednesday January 10 2007, 6:53 pm: For the most part yes, but if you only drink more water and eat crap food then no. But drinking more water will help you lose weight with other little thing such as eating less junk walking a mile or so a day. Also, water will help clear your skin up too...but also add in some milk at dinner or something to get some calcium. [ soccergurlie1220's advice column | Ask soccergurlie1220 A Question ]

Alin75 answered Wednesday January 10 2007, 6:07 pm: Everyone answered very well. I would just reword it to "quiting soda will put you in a better position to lose weight". It does not guarantee weight loss, since that requires a negative calorie balance (burn more than you consume).
So, if your diet is crap, if you eat more than you burn, then quiting soda will only make you gain weight slower. It will remove a large source of empty calories which are of no nutritional value, which is great. However, you are still required to make sure that you dont over eat as well.
Edit: Oh, and water is great for your body in just about every way possible, but I think people have expressed that already. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
birdbr answered Wednesday January 10 2007, 6:06 pm: it depends if you are drinking to much water, and if you excercise you will lose weight. if you drink lots of soda cut down and eventually you'll stop...
Brandi_S answered Wednesday January 10 2007, 5:53 pm: First off, water is the best drink for you. Your body is made up mostly of water.
When you start to drink a lot of water, you will in turn start to loose water weight. I'm not sure why that, is exactly, I assume it is because it flushes impurities out of your body.
The carbonation in soda is carbon dioxide. Funny, that our bodies expel carbon dioxide as a waste when we exhale, yet we ingest this same waste though our favorite beverages.
Fact: Mountain Dew contains vegetable oil.
Fact: You can use Coca-Cola to keep your kitchen drains clean, and your white laundry bright. Sounds kinda like some household chemicals I have around here...
Nothing to do with the question. Just trying to make you think about how bad soda is for your body.
angie91 answered Wednesday January 10 2007, 5:43 pm: Probably, because you are limiting the amount of sugar that is being digested. There is a lot of sugar in pop and if you get rid of that from your diet your weight should go down, but if you also replace it with water then you arent putting any sugar in (which is good and bad) it is good because you are taking out the bad things from your diet, also water flushes out your system, the more water you drink, the more often you will get rid off the other things that need to be flushed from your system.
But you are also doing harm. Your body needs sugar, because your blood gulcose needs sugar otherwise you can faint or go even go into a coma. So you need to be careful to not take all of the sugar out of your diet.
If you are planning to ajdust your diet though, I would suggest that you see a nutrionist. But if you arent planning on loosing alot of weight or anything then that isnt that serious, and you should just try and drink about a litre of water a day, and then drink other drinks like juice on the side.
Hope that helps alittle. Lots of Love,
